Plenty around! I've sold 3 out of 5 that I own just to save space and miss having a manual trans. But the autos definitely handle power easier

@@MrDrHouse the 4age sounds like a Miata to me, and the 2zz is cool, but still not as wide of a variety to modify.

Actually the 1.8 isnt all that bad for what it does. I mean a 3,500lb car going up to like 120-130mph with that engine aint bad at all.

90% of the time the cluster oil pressure gauge doesnt even work

D0iL3R That's very true, but DSM's don't have the best oil circulation at cold start up. Unless they've done the various oil pump/head mods to get oil flowing better. Either way in my experience with these cars I just cringe a little when someone cold revs like that, maybe it's just me.

with my car I've found that cold revving and keeping it under 5500-6500 is fine as long as you're gradual with it. Although I generally never do it, only when I'm trying to trouble shoot an issue and I have to keep starting/turning off the car.

D0iL3R I'd say that's fine, but this person was going past redline and that's the only thing I was talking about honestly. Yeah, keeping it under 5k or so won't hurt much. I've owned four of these cars (that includes currently) and have worked on them quite extensively, and seen a couple people blow out their old worn out head gaskets like this. It's quite the different story if you've done a lot of mods, have upgraded head studs, HG and so on. It's just with the stock 20+ year old stuff I worry about. Rotting HG and stretched head studs and so on. I have no idea what this person had done, so idk. To each their own! What year, mods do you have? Just curious, like to hear from fellow DSMers out there!

Well I'm only 17 but I just rebuilt my dads old 94 talon tsi, 5 speed awd, stock block, rebuilt head, Comp Cam 272s, stock ported manifolds, stock 14b, frontmount intercooler Fluidyne radiator, tiAL BOV, GM MAF and a MAF translator, AEM wideband gauge, Manual boost controller, 560cc injectors, walbro 255, AEM FPR, full 3 in exhaust, 4 bolt rear, 6 puck clutch, ACT 2600 pressure plate, lightweight flywheel not sure exactly by who, my dad had it sitting on the shelf from his old engine. I'm almost done with it, I just got the engine finished about a month and a half ago, but I haven't been driving it much, it's prepped for paint and I dont have an SAFC or datalogger yet which makes it a pain in the ass without ECMLink to control/see whats going on, but I have it at about 12 pounds of boost currently and its been running decent. It had been sitting for the last 7-9 years approx. and my dad told me if I wanted to rebuild it the only help I was gonna get was a manual and whatever else I could figure out on my own, he had sold the engine out of it so all I got was a roller with a transmission. With just that manual, Jafromobile on youtube and the occasional forum search when I was really stumped, I got the whole thing built in about 2 months. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I'd say I did alright. how about yourself?
