This was the exact kind of guide I was looking for. The tension/catch bars need more explanation in-game, and we need a way to let out slack. As it stands, it just feels like a race to catch the fish before the line snaps, rather than any sort of actual real fishing mechanics. All they need to do is add a "let slack out" to right click and it's perfectly fine.
Couldn't find the frog at the location you showed but found it at another spot. About 4790,-6353 right next to Sutherland Chemical Plant, so there's that if others were struggling to find it too.
I found a frog just in the body of water next to chemical plant; just a purple swil above the water near the shore, keep ur eyes open! Good luck, the frog is incredible industrious^^
Fishing could definitely be improved, and it improved from CBT2 as well! I'd love to have different rare morphs of fish, that are trophy worthy, larger fish being physically larger in tanks and trophy boards, more fish in a single fish tank. More fish tanks maybe. The fishing itself is just fine, it's just everything surrounding it seems underwhelming. As you mentioned, bait requirements from fish would be nice. Making fish tanks not storage containers so we don't cook our hard earned cool looking fish.
Damn 2 days and you would have caught me spamming world with my epiphany the bars actually mean something haha. I'd been doing exactly the same as you until i tried experimenting a bit. Found that if you release left click quickly then hold again you can regain the collapse meter, Once you get a hang of the feedback it makes more sense to you. Most fish that fight you one or two quick releases will lock it in but you can even get the crazy fish that fly off when you get the feel of it. feels nice to master
