Growing up, the number of schools I attended by the time of my HS graduation (its true~ the Air Force moved us a lot) was 23! Dad always began our trips driving from state to state, & base to base by making certain our first designated stop was his hometown. AND each time we walked thru the kitchen door into Grandpa & Grandma's house, Grandma NEVER failed to have sitting on the kitchen table, hiding under the lid of a 13x9 cake tin, a moist chocolate cake. It too, was topped with a fudgy chocolate frosting. This video shouts out to me that the recipe presented here, will surely stand up to Grandmas scrumptious cake: moist & not dry as so many chocolate cakes are & even topped with that rich fudgy frosting! So I am very much looking forward to making this chocolate cake & taking my first bite. I see no room for disappointment as it5 looks- and I'm already certain, will taste equally as good as the cake Grandma made! Ive always wished I had her recipe! Now it seems that it IS in my hands after all. 🎂 🍫.

sanjoabraham73 I made it a lot. sometimes I mix both and others only white. And let me tell you something interesting 😂 I once made a mistake with the measurements so I just added milk randomly to get the same mixture I’m used to. surprisingly, it turned out well 😂. Trust me this is the type of cake that will always turn out well.
Reham Al-Rasheedi not at all. I always use semisweet chocolate for ganache so if you used it or dark as it’s mentioned in the recipe it will not be too sweet. I also, skipped the chocolate syrup after the first time since I’m lazy :-b .

Hey babe...I made this cake today for my bestie's birthday...she loved it so muchhh. I decorated with some Cadbury gems and dairymilk chocolate. It look so good. No one believed that I made it. I tried out this recipe and it turned out amazing! I loved the texture and the sweetness was just right! I also made the ganache instead of the syrup, but I found that half of the ganache recipe was already enough. Thank you for the amazing recipe Emma 💕
Okay, I’m genuinely shocked at how good this is. I made it last night, added chocolate chips to it, and it was really great. I’ve tried many “quick cake” recipes, and this one’s by far the best. I’ll be trying the potato donut recipe next :)

I made this cake for my husbands birthday as he looves dark chocolate. I did make it smaller mold and in two layers. Was a bit tricky but oh it was honestly so delicious and moist. Will definetly bake it again! 🤤

I made this two days ago and it was fab! I used your measurements in grams, and I'm sure glad I did because when I had initially measured out the flour in grams and transferred it to a cup, it measured 1 cup and I could have gone wrong if I had used the cup measurements! The first recipe that worked perfectly for me in a long time. I didn't do the caramel sauce, nor the icing because I was feeling guilty about the sugar and it wasn't a special occasion or anything so I'll save it for another time. Still a moist cake, even two days later. Very rich and dense. I could faintly taste soda in the cake when we ate it just out of the oven, but when it had cooled and "mellowed", there was no trace of soda. Thanks Em! Edit: I think the flour we get around here in my country is less dense in weight, maybe that's why occupying more volume? Not blaming the recipe, I'm sure it's a fault at my end with the way I measure flour/the flour itself.

I've been craving chocolate cake so much recently and decided to make this recipe today and it was soo delicious and chocolate-y! Hi Gloria, did you use a square pan? If so, what size and did you need to make any adjustments to the recipe to fit the pan you were using? The responses on pan size has been 7" but that is for a round and I only have 8x8 pan so wondered if any adjustments would be needed to get it to work on my square pan. Thanks.
Nancy Alfaro hi Nancy, I used an 8" square pan. I would definitely add half the amount again to the mixture next time I make it (or even double and add the extra cooking time) because it was thinner & more drier than Emma's cake but the saving grace is the chocolate syrup, it added the much needed moisture to sponge so it still came out beautifully. I think if you add the extra cake mix when using your 8"sq tin it will be mind blowingly good lol. Mine was fantastic though, the flavour!!!!!! 😊

Was making one layer & normal cakes but You're my first ever inspiration to bake layer cakes..My 1st cake was your rich&moist chocolate cake.. I couldn't make the nutella frosting as perfect as you..but the taste of frosting was loved by my family.. now I've learnt well about baking & frosting.. عملتها بالسكر الأبيض بس واستخدمت زيت وكانت روعة🎉 بس قللت كميه السكر حوالي ١٠ ل ٢٠ جرام وكانت حلاوتها مناسبة لي ولأسرتي واستخدمت كريمه ثقيله عملاها في البيت من وصفه على اليوتيوب لأن أولا هي مش متوفره عندي نهائيا وثانيا لأنها غاليه جدا وطلعت مذهله ❤ وكمان لاحظت إن قوام الخليط اتقل بكتير من اللي في الفيديو فزودت نصف كوب من الحليب الساخن فوصلت للقوام اللي في الفيديو .شكرا للوصفه السهله😊

I like that you heat milk, melt chocolate and do everything without a microwave. I have a microwave but it's for reheating food only as a personal preference. I heat my breakfast milk like you do too. I'm watching to give it a go. It will be my first time to make brownies. I do know how to make caramel and syrup so that's a plus. Will update my outcome later. 😊 Update, 04/02/2020: I baked it last night, then made the syrup and ganache today. My daughter, 8, and her dad loved it! I do too! Told them it's from Emma on RU-vid. 😊 I however, used only 1 tbsp of coffee co's my daughter finds coffee too strong in chocolate desserts where coffee is used as an enhancer. Thank you for sharing.
