well... i dont care what the other people say as i saw some of the negative comments here.... but i watched this video jst to get info for the beginners ... all i have to say is i got what i needed and thanxx for that.... and keep on doing what u love coz all the experts were also a beginners once.... best of luck !
But this video is out of date so essentially gives beginners bad advice, it's much better and cheaper to use a cheap USB mic into your computer and mix on free/bundled/cheap software. Another option for making credible demo tapes is using a DAW app on your phone. This video demonstrates a really strange combination of gear that sort of works. 😅
I have rarely come across a girl with so much in-depth knowledge about sound mixing and electronic gadgets. Your grasp on basic electronics seems to be based on sound footing (pun intended) :-) I have 40 years of experience in professional audio, and I can say from my experience that the way you have explained the basics of sound recording is way too mature and lucid. Thanks for this video, which I am sure will help many beginners to step into the world of audio.
Pinky Amore did I call myself a master? Even if I do consider myself a master, there will definitely be someone more "master" than me. It's a relative term. Nobody in this world is a "Master", we are all good in our own ways, so chill in case you are trying to act smart
i know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
Dear Ritwika: What a wonderful, thorough, and informative presentation! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and help other young, up-and-coming artists! You will be blessed for your kindness.
first off, REALLY, all you need is a mic, interface, and that's it. Then the software or D.A.W of your choice. If you really want a low budget yet, legit sounding recordings, get the Focusrite Scarlett Studio bundle! for DAW, Mixcraft is great, very easy and very simple.
I heard the mic that comes in that bundle isn't that great? What is your thoughts on this? I was actually thinking of going with the Behringer UM2 Audio Interface, have you seen this one before it's fairly new!
emkplayboy6 The bundle is very good. Personally, I'm not too big on the headphones, but that's just a minor detail. For the price, it's extremely difficult to beat. With any recording set up, to get a good sounding product, you have to be patient and determined. With very affordable set ups, you can get very nice and even professional sounding results. DIY musicians like Plini, Sithu Aye, CloudKicker, Bulb started with very affordable set ups and produced amazing songs with them.
Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. But I have a doubt.I want to record my vocals over karaoke backing tracks.I want to get recordings in good and amplified quality likewise she was trying to demonstrate the difference between the mixed recording and recording made with her set up in the beginning of the video. If i use microphone+USB audio interface+headphone+DAW(audacity) set up,will I get that amplified quality and without noise in audacity playing a greater hinderance?
Nice presentation and you are a very bright young lady, but consider this; it appears to me,that you have a $300 field recorder and a $100 hardware mixer(totaling $400). As a much superior alternative..how about buying a $250 Acer Apsire computer, and a Presonus AudioBox USB(audio interface)..that has an included copy of Presonus Studio One Artist(which is a audio/midi multi-tracking program) and for around the same money, you would have the ability to record as many tracks as you like and add all of the vocal effects you like. Also...for another $119...you could get an M-Audio Oxygen 25 midi controller keyboard and make music tracks of your very own(rather than hooking up lousy MP3 player).
Andrew Mayes If she bought a microphone for say,$50...then she could record her voice,by plugging the microphone right into the front face of the interface(as it accepts XLR plugs).
Maimeo L Assuming you have a conventional mixer(some mixers have a USB connectivity),then yes,you will need an audio interface. More high quality?Higher quality then what?I obviously have no idea what your gear set up is,or what you are trying to accomplish.
I love it how you breaking it down step by step. And telling what each part and component do.People will get straight to the point getting what they need.Ima tell others about your video.Keep up the very good work.
well i m here to say u thanks ... first of all cause this above tutorial secondly ur works over past years inspired me....now i will do my work with new positive energy ...god bless u.
You took my tears off.For long days I cried that I couldn't record my voice of singing.Hope I could buy things that you demonstrated above in my pocket money.
Ken Ussery so...because she wrote down her dialogue she doesn't know what she's talking about? BTW, i think your wrong, she's not reading anything(her eyes aren't doing tiny cutaways to read from the cue cards)...she's looking dead into the camera.
You're 100% right. It just don't come as easy as when she talks about video recording where she usually just flow with info. She's very knowledgeable. Sent from Ken iPhone
I really think if you are a recording novice this video tutorial is absolutely exceptional. It is extremely informative in a wonderfully uncomplicated and jargon free manner. It is also very honest and really does offer good advice on the minimum requirements. Best of all the young lady comunicates very well just how within reach a satisfying little home set up can be. I would gladly use this as a teaching aid and think it would hopfully inspire young people. All your videos are superb.
Dryder Mataroa hello bro can u tell me the all same equipment name one by one with brand name and cost ..i want to buy it but no one explain wht the brand n what we call it
This is excellent video tutorial for a beginner like me. I'm building a home studio, just like you have. Your video taught me that I should change my recorder to a portable one similar like yours. I made the mistake of buying a full-size Tascam, and I'm very confused with how to use it. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge. I'll revisit this video many more times.
woww this seems like an old school way lol, you manage to get a better quality then most people with $500 interfaces and $400 mics, anyways good stuff!!
You wanna "Siri" sing your songs? Or you gonna record voice with the frying pan? Internal audio interfaces are almost always too weak to rock the condenser microphone, only electret or kinda (sure, if you are not using active microphone). So you can't record any sound without phantom power. Mixer is a nice thing, it has preamps and other goodies. Recorders are also very important, they're designed only to record sounds (unlike phones and media players) so they do it brilliant. Anyway if you'll finally discover after some tracks that you are not as good in singins songs as you thought - you can sell your stuff for pretty nice money, 'case pro-audio equipment became cheaper slowly. Thx for attention.
ebay, what about a mackie satelite with traction,90 dollars, thanks but it seems like a step backwards, and what if u sing great until the the last note of the song,Sing the entire song all over again?,however the gear seems perfect for live recordings like recording you own perfomances concerts etc.
***** well if you dont wanna go computer software, there is always digital multitrack recorders, and they are selling dirt cheap on ebay, you can find a multitrack with 8 to 16 tracks, mixer and effects, and alot have a cd recorder built right into them, thats about the best middle ground i can thinkof (rice crispy treats please (:)
there are some multitracks with 8 inputs,i have the tascam 2488,which has 8 inputs and i think records 8 inputs at once(idk for sure)but lets say u get a usb interface or multitrack with only 2 inputs and u wanted to mic a whole band i would get a 8 line mixer for my drums, its up to you haw to record,i personaly would record every instrument seperatly,so i could fine tune the eq,compression reverb, etc, hope this was helpful
Oh that's such a nice explanation. I was wondering it to be so complex, until came across your valuable video...will try some of the facts in my search to set up amateur home studio.
I love the way of your presentation and confidence never saw a girl with an explanatory talent pls keep going I have started following your tutorials thanks
+hasendra kuruppuarachchi Jesus, how long did it take you to memorize all those letters in your name? ~ Regarding the video, SHE SUCKS!! She shouldn't be teaching ANYONE ANYTHING, she should try to first learn herself. Like, how to not MUMBLE, how to pronounce English properly, and lastly but most importantly. How to recommend equipment that's actually good. ~ Now please, return to your letter memorization classes so you can keep spelling your name right.
hasendra kuruppuarachchi Aside from the fact that the actual change in the audio samples she gives is due to software filtering and not hardware differences. And that HER SINGING TOTALLY AND ABSOLUTELY SUCKS DONKEY ASS!!!! She's TERRIBLE and should NEVER try singing EVER again.
Thanks for courage and attempts to create such informative clip as i see some of these people don't even appreciate but among those there are some encouraging comments as well that i'm hoping you could look at and maybe and answers their questions , once again you are awesome . thank you
+mostinash ....I was wondering how is it likely to connect your instrument such keyboard and sing along , and what exactly mp3 player does in here ? get the playback music rhythm ? or anyone else if can answer me would be appreciated
Thank you SO much Honey! This helped me SO much! I wanted a video like this, And I found this! Now I can record my voice at home with confidence, and the right equipment! Thanks babe! :)
Daaaaaayyyyyyyummmmm! This setup is dope as hell. I'm converting the back of a box truck into a pro studio... space is an issue, but hopefully I can still pull off something as epic as this! Thx for the vid 🤘
I review hundreds of tutorials on you tube, and yours are the best! I have learned more from your videos than I have from my local community collage. You should have a million hit or more for each of you tutorials! Awesome work! I will tell all my friends and my collage professors (video & audio production classes) about you.
I enjoyed this presentation very much. I have a lot of old equipment and need to upgrade my recording gear for home recording. I found this video to be helpful.

I've bought everything u have describe on you tube last night from amazon. and it came this morning. I've try it, and it is amazing. and is far better then other systems ( vocopro ) I've try in the last few weeks. Lol and it's much cheaper too. thank you very much
Number how old are you and how in the world did you become knowledgeable. I mean I am very impressed. Great job! I thinking of getting my granddaughter an in home recording system because she loves to sing. She done a number of contest and plays a has done very well. I think something like this would be very good for her. Thank you and keep up the good work. You are very talented. The proud grandpa of a very talented granddaughter.
Ritwika great post. Thanks a ton. I have a slightly different requirement. Instead of a karoke track I need to record live instruments along with my song. Is there a way to connect 2 mics(one for the song & the other for the instruments ) to the mixer amp?
Thanks for the reply. I found out the cause. Where the mic cable connects inside the mic, there must be a loose connection so its movement caused the scratchy sound. I taped up the cable to the mic to arrest the cable movement near the mic and this has fixed it (until I get a new one like the SB58.
Hey there.... I love how knowledgeable you are of what you are doing.. I have been doing recording with audacity direct for years but never been too keen with mics or mixers... I just use a computer mic... Im just doing the s Nging for hobby so not a big deal with me... Thumbs up
thanks ritwika for a very good and very helpful info i would appriciate if you can suggest me the best quality stuff from stand ,mic and other gadgets including cables and wires i would like to set up my own karaeoke studio in my basement will wait for your reply
that's all right when your just starting off i remember when i first started i first had a small mixer but the deeper you go into music and start using eqs and compressors it starts getting more complex and you'll find you'll need a different type of mixer and that's when it will get more complex and expensive
Thank you so much for the very informative video, Ritwicka. I know this is 2 yrs old. I still found it one of the best for beginners. I am just starting to put together my first recording setup. I won't even call it a studio because I carry it with me on trips when I have to stay in hotels for a week at a time. For update purposes, would you still recommend a digital recorder such as your Sony & the Fostex that you reviewed separately, or would you go directly to a computer like a MacBook Pro.
Explained in very simple way. Very nice. Mam. Could you please tell me Which condenser mic have you suggested in the video. Its MXL 367 I is it. Sorry I could'nt hear it properly.
