I can’t even tell you how long I’ve been trying to trigger this conversation. From throwing myself off of cliffs. To starving my arthur and chain smoking cigarettes bc I heard on Reddit you need empty cores. Reloading saves over and over. I followed your steps in this video and I got it first try at 11:50 am. Four play throughs or more of trying and you made it happen in one go. I cannot thank you enough dude!! Seriously!
@@RockworthRDR2- is it possible that I’m too far along in Chapter 2 to trigger this quest? I’ve done pretty much everything aside from Strauss missions. I keep reloading near camp at 10:00 AM and going back and around but Pearson won’t go behind the counter. I hope I don’t have to start Chapter 2 all over again just for these items requests but I’m afraid I might have to.

@@pandarhino6412 I had to start all over to get it lol it’s all good tho I’m already further along in progress than I was before - I just HAD to have that scout jacket… you have to do this EARLY in Chapter 2 otherwise it won’t ever come up
Here's how it always worked for me, every time. :) 1. After I enter Chapter 2, sleep until morning. 2. Roam around the camp 3. Make a save at around 10:30am 4. Keep being around the poker table, Dutch will court Molly at that time 5. Approach Pearson between 10:30am - 11:30am 6. If he doesn't react after the whistling, reload your last save that you made for 10:30am 7 Approach Person right away, and he will give you the request. :) Literally worked for me every single time. No need for your cores to be empty or anything. Just be in camp, that's it. :)
I was just doing camp chores when I noticed him drinking behind the table. The only mission I had done is rescuing Reverend Swanson, which is not a requirement. All this talk about having to have low cores and completing certain missions is just not accurate.
@@johnaustin209 I'm sorry it didn't work... :( Try to save and reload when Pearson is at his table around 11:30 - 11:45, it should trigger the event after the save. Make a couple before he gets there, just in case. :)

It's always odd how any animal that's on a featured quest, challenge, or pending upgrade is scarce when you're actually looking for them. It took me days to find a robin when it was a target for the taxidermy quest. And I needed a few of them to get my favorite hat from the trapper.
So true. After i got all the robin carcasses i required for everything, 3 perfect robins just popped up above the Kamasa river After i got all the plumes, the birds just started appearing in the most random places It took me hell lot of time to find these birds
i get my robins and woodpeckers up in roanoke across from the wolfman's cave. On the east bank there is that bit of land you can camp on etc but all along it there are big rocks that spawn little birds. Woodpeckers and robins tend to spawn on the rocks just south. I can usually get all the birds there that arent bluejays, cardinals and orioles (which spawn where he goes rabbit hunting here at 04:06)
I believe this is all but officially confirmed. The rabbit, the taxidermy quest, and the heron/egret/spoonbill plumes for the Exotics quest all have lower spawn rates the second the quest becomes active.
Every time I replay this game, currently I'm on I guess my eighth or ninth time, the first two things I do when starting Chapter 2 is Dutch's pipe request and Pearson's rabbit request. After the camp is established and the cutscene transitions to you standing in front of your bed and the you have proper control of Arthur for the first time in this chapter, I walk circles around Dutch's tent until he goes to smoke out front and get his pipe request. It only takes a moment for me in most instances. Then at 10:00 I make a save and walk back and forth from Pearson's wagon to the trail leading out of camp, and if I don't get his request by 12:00 I reload it. My current save it took three reloads and he made the offer. It is the very first thing I do in the chapter, and has worked consistently since I discovered it, so it seems to me clear that it has nothing to do with core levels or anything like this; it is no different than any other of the gang item requests with the exception that the window of opportunity is relatively small and that he is probably the most bugged character around the camp in his animations and ambient dialogue. It kind of sucks that my OCD won't allow me to just enjoy the game until I get these things out of the way, but I know if I move on I'll forget about it. I do the same with Abigail's request for money and Jack's request for a thimble; the moment I finish the fishing mission with Jack I make a save at the camp and walk around until I get both requests, because by this point John is usually waiting in Valentine for the final mandatory mission of the chapter and if they aren't picked up now I believe the opportunity is permanently lost. EDIT - I forgot to mention, the "peaky" comment seems to me to be entirely irrelevant to your actual condition, the way Arthur will say "I keep killing animals" and "I've killed lots of innocent folk" during the dialogue with Karen, regardless of whether or not you've killed either outside of mandatory mission moments. It was probably assumed that most players would begin the game killing people for fun and being underweight due to the arcane nature of Arthur's weight levels being balanced perfectly, is my guess.
I found this out the hard way after trying and trying with low cores and low camp supplies. I had given up, but Pierson was drinking and whistling. So i went up to him with full cores and bars and it triggered. Its great to finally see a video that is accurate about this. Thank you!!
Thank you Rockworth!! I'm on my sixth playthrough and I've never gotten Pearson's scout jacket. I've gotten 100%, stolen the black Arabian, gotten the MFT from the Mason mission, all kinds of stuff but never the jacket. I had literally just turned on my xbox and loaded a save midway in Ch.2 and had paused the game to look at your video again. I had saved in camp so i spawned right by the table next to Dutch's tent and it just happened to be 10:25 am. I watched your video again and was about to ride out of camp, sleep til the next morning and ride into camp. When i unpaused the game i realized i was standing beside the main camp table and could see Pearson in the background standing behind his table and he was taking a swig from a bottle. I unpaused and slowly walked towards Pearson and when i went to interact with him the "Antagonize" button was grayed out. Someone yelled something to Pearson asking when the food would be ready and i froze because I've had more than one character try to have an interaction with me before and it usually screws up one of the dialogues. So i waited a few seconds and hit the greet button and for a second thought i had missed it because Arthur said one of his normal Pearson interactions like "make a big pot" but then Pearson said "are you alright Mr. Morgan?" and sure enough i get the entire "peaky" dialogue. I immediately went and shot a rabbit and rode back to camp. At first i thought it was glitched because i didn't get any notice when i picked up the rabbit like you do with other companion requests. However when i rode into camp and got the rabbit off my horse the Companion alert pops up and once i donated the rabbit they had their little dialogue and the Scout Jacket popped up. You were right, cores, weight and camp status made no difference whatsoever. I had also finished Kieran's mission so that seems spot on as well. It seems to come down to being between 10 and 12 and waiting for Pearson to be in position. Thanks again, sorry for the ramble.
@@RockworthRDR2 thanks again! Not only is it nice to finally figure out another piece of the giant puzzle that is RDR2 but the Scout jacket is one of my favorite jackets and the denim one Pearson makes is especially cool.
It finally worked after countless reloads. I think the chance for this specific conversation to trigger is pretty random. It doesn't always work even when he's whistling and drinking while chopping the veggies.
I know you showed that it is possible to do this mission before doing the Kieran mission (ie while he is still tied to the tree) but I wasted hours, days trying to get the event to trigger while he was tied up. When I finally did the mission and he was no longer tied to the tree, the quest triggered on my first try. So if anyone is struggling I would recommend progressing at least until Kieran is no longer tied to the tree.

@@ec7458 yea bro when i had it on my PS4 it never glitched, none of the scout jackets did but on my series s it did lol except the one you can craft at the trapper but now i got a PS5 so i ain't trippin anymore but i feel your pain fam.
This worked on my second try, I had just saved too early. Went in right at 10:00, Dutch bothered me about some bullshit, but then there's Pearson whistling and drinking behind the table preparing the stew. Thank you so much. There's no secret hack it's just timing.
It had seemed the exact same way to me too partner, just coincidences I assume. But I tested over and over - cores, camp supplies, nor weight has anything to do with triggering the request.
@@supersaiyannerdIt's totally random. I tried one low core, I tried all low cores, low camp supplies... I finally gave up, then with full cores with full bars and good camp supplies, it triggered for me. So no, you do not need low cores.
Definitely works. I did Miss Grimshaws request and happened to have the herbs she was asking for so I fulfilled her request and walked over to Pearson and sure enough at 10:45 he started drinking and whistling. Thanks for the video!!
Wanted this jacket for a long time. Followed the tips in the video and I finally got it…only problem is I’m playing on Xbox and the jacket texture is super glitchy whenever Arthur moves.

Got the jacket last night using your methods. Sadie kept hovering right around where Pearson was supposed to be, so I did have to reload my save maybe five or six times because of that. I kept thinking "Sadie! Move your F***IN ASS!" But you're correct; cores DO NOT need to be low/empty, same for camp supplies. Tip-top job on this video my dude.

Thanks Rockworth. None of the other strats are legit. Kieran quest finished and got the Pearson request the next morning at 10:20am. No beer, no whistling, no chopping, no drained cores. Just Pearson standing behind the side table doing absolutely nothing.
Can also confirm, after trying the other ways.. this works! I handed in a Poor Quality Rabbit caught next to Horseshoe Overlook camp and did the job in Chapter 2. Thank you!!!
Just came back after two years and started a new game. I remembered this trigger. Fking hard but I found your video and followed ur steps. I saved 9.55 near camp (east for Horseshoe) and took to the camp right after the save. I didnt get it first try and I gave up around 11.30 and then I reloaded. 2nd try = he was there, right after I came into the camp around 10.00-10.05. 100000 thanks.
From what i've gathered through tons of replay on chapters 2,3, and 4, i have concluded that you can only get this quest in chapter 2 after you have to finish Kieran misssion. Then you can just do as the video, your core and weight don't matter.
I could never get Pearson to start the talk about a rabbit. I wish you could go back and get the jacket. I’ve bought every scout jacket and none look as good as that one. Sucks bc I don’t wanna start over for a jacket. I already did that for the fox trotter.
Every time I try this, Pearson ends up in conversation with someone. First Javier, now over and over it is Uncle about sharks and being abandoned at 9 years old. The Sean mission is not taking place, but the John mission is where Sean would be away from camp. Does that matter? I've only gotten this errand to trigger ONCE in 3800 hours, and never gotten Sean's errand to. EDIT - GOT IT. Thanks! Now, for Sean. Can't get it.

I'm in Chapter 2. Have been for many many hours. Got East Satchel, almost every trapper outfit, done the Dreamcatchers, all of the non New Austin Dino bones. So I wonder if this jacket is only available at the start of Chapter 2? Tried this method twice. He whistles but is behind the table making a stew, not drinking. I'll keep trying. It can be triggered even if you haven't done Kieran's mission. I just went to Strauss and it deactivated Kieran's mission until you collect debts, Pearson gave me the request during that time.

For me draining the health cure is the way to go. So what I do is right at the beginning of chapter 2 , I save then i go to the cliff near by where I throw my self but not too far , when the heart turn red I get back to the camp and go straight to Person but while looking away from and there you go , the mission will be triggered. This way has always worked for me..

I can't make this work.. I've followed the instructions in the video, but he doesn't move behind his table until at 12 exactly. He whistles and drinks beer, but I always get the antagonize-option when I approach. There must still be something missing. I've released Kieran. So strange that after all these years, the community still hasn't figured out what the triggers are.
@@RockworthRDR2 Yes, I have. I have 3 active (Dutch's pipe, Mary-Beth's pen and Hosea's book). But I had all 4 active on a previous save. I'll get a pipe for Dutch and try again.
@@alhajoththe issue could be that there are other members waiting to give you their requests (besides the ones you named), which may be taking priority over Pearson's request. From 8am-12pm, walk around camp and see if someone is waiting to give you their's. If not, try clearing one of those active requests. Your item log may need a refresh.
“Rockworth recommended”, not “required”. And not everybody has just recently moved to horseshoe overlook. If you’re going for the jacket, save the game in case you get distracted and/or if you miss the request for whatever reason, you can simply reload.
I just wanted to add how it worked for me after many many attempts I've tried all these different videos and could not get it to trigger so then I thought what if it won't happen until I've done other requests I'd already done Susan Lenny and the kid twice before I thought this so I went over and gave Javier oleander then Sean bottles and immediately after that walked over to Pearson and he was standing in the right spot and it triggered 👍👍👍

For some reason, this is not working for me, really wanted to get this denim jacket/coat, not sure if I can hang around in Chapter 2 any longer, already 70 hours in, obtained the Legend of the East satchel too. Edit: I made a save at 10:30 while being inside the camp, booted up the save, instantly got it, thanks for the guide!
For me I had to do Strauss mission then buy the supply upgrade for camp after ta waited till 10am and it worked otherwise i got a talk about we need food Mr.Morgan🙄
Help, im at the point where kieran is still tied at the pole and his mission icon is still at the camp, so that means i need to play his mission first THEN i can try to trigger the request? Need explanation guys, thank you
Doesn't work for me. I think that the easiest way to get it is when tou just arrive at the Camp in Chapter 2. I triggered Dutch's Pipe request, but I miss the one for Pearson. Anyway, I think Im still able to get this because I just did the mission of the Valentine's Bar fight with Tommy and Money Lending and Other Sins - II (not even III). The problem is that no matter what I do, Pearson always is butchering in the donations table, and then he goes at 12 pm to the other table that gives you the request: Arthur always says "Make a big pot Im starving". I upgraded the Camp to max and got every satchel upgrade from Pearson but I think it changes nothing..
I just finished the Kieran mission. Haven’t even popped the “rescue Micah mission.” Am I too far along to trigger this? I am working on 100% and the platinum and don’t want to restart to the beginning again. Already have almost all gold medals on the missions.
