Ultimate K20/K24 Build Guide! PT.1 (head assembly) 

This build series is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have an '04 EP3 Si I was planning on doing a straight K24 swap on...but now I've decided to do K20/K24 turbo build. I've done my fair share of D/B/H swaps and involved in 1 K24A2 EG hatch build, so I've been researching my EP3 K-turbo build since I bought the car 2 years ago. I know the basics and I'm hoping that your build series will fill in the gaps of what I don't know. #staymotorvated #staycommitted

You can make an adapter that fits into the spark plug hole so you can run 50psi of shop air into your combustion chamber so your valves stay sealed while the engine is built.

I recommend getting a bunch of rope pieces, wadding them up, putting them in 'balls' under the head at the valves and then using a tie down strap to secure the head tightly to your workbench. The rope is soft, won't hurt anything and I found, when using something similarly described, it was kind of difficult to get it exactly under the valve to stop it moving. I ended up doing what I described and it went like so easy. There are different thicknesses for tie downs-get a very thin width one so you don't have to move it much at all during the cylinder to cylinder movements.

I built a K20A2 back when they just came out, threw in Sk2 stage 2 cams, springs, and it kept stripping the teeth on the timing chain tensioner, I went through 4 tensioners and then finally took the cams out. Toda was the only company selling an aftermarket tensioner at the time, got fed up so didn’t even try it. I’d upgrade the chain tensioner if I were you.

Those springs can go either way, if anyone's wondering...there's no top or bottom. Some springs aren't like that, and have a top.

Your videos are on point my man. My go to rsx channel. Just got mine tuned last week. Completely stock k20 with basic bolt ons made 213hp. Hoping to run a 13 sec pass next season

👏👏 just did this to my All Motor k24/20 build.. DIY is the way to go, but there is a head valve spring compressor that hold top & bottom I bought mine years ago just FYI

Glad to see u back Sergio, u made me go through my closest and pull out my k20z3 head and begin preparing it to slap it on my 2013 si (k24z7) yeah it's going to be a little work and money but it's well worth it. Keep up the good work also will u be running stock cams or aftermarket.

Great video, but did you valve lap everything? You didn't show or mention this in your video and it needs to be done to create the best seal for the valves.

Hi sir did lost motion spring can create ticking noise. my engine have clicking noise when i press gas when engine have load. this clicking noise only happen when car moving. if i rev when car in neutral this clicking noise not present

You putting that finger in there while tightening that valve spring tool makes me cringe! I can't imagine what it would look like if that tool fails. Learned a lot in this series though, great videos.

Great video man. Where you located? Need some knowledgeable people to kick it with. I'm in WA and I just got an 05 rsx, drove it home, it ran fine but I did a bunch of work, started it up and I'm getting a cylinder 3 misfire now with only 60 compression. 170 on all other cylinders. Leakdown test tomorrow to see if it's a broken ring, or something else. So I will probably be rebuilding the motor very soon also.

I have a 2009 Honda Civic Si, just swapped the K24 Block, kept my K20 Head, also plugged the oil jet spray with 10 mm screw. I was getting P2647 error, changed out the VTEC Solenoid assembly, also VTC Solenoid, also changes out the new engine harness. Still the P2647 code, I give up, don't know what the issue is, if anyone can give me some idea or advice i could sure use it right now. TY!

Are those also supertech valves ? Or oem?

I had hoped this would explain the options between all the K20 & 24 heads. The differences, CC's, ports, cams, VTEC, I-VTEC, and no-VTEC. Oh well, I'll keep looking...

How reliable is a k series after you put bigger cams and duel valve springs? Does it chew tensioners up?

What valve seals are those?

Can you use a CRV head with type s parts even though it doesn’t have LMAs?

Hey bud. I have a 2009 Acura TSX. I had a oil leak and I changed the head gasket and still leaking oil on the same spot. It leaks on the back of the Engine where is pools and collects oil. Is this normal on these motors?

I would like to know if you installed a K20 engine into your RSX ?also I would like to keep on writing you cause I think that I hurt my K20a2 due to low oil in engine.

You’re supposed to use engine build oil. It’s a straight 30 not sure how many engines you built.. When you installed the wrist pins you didn’t measure clearance. Doesn’t matter if it’s oem, aftermarket pins you should always see the clearance and adjust on your motor. I stopped there because who knows what else you forgot...
