Welcome to an epic session at Locust Beach, Bellingham - a renowned gem in the Pacific Northwest known for its stellar spring and fall winds. A few weeks back, we embarked on this adventure, rediscovering a spot we hadn't visited in a while.
Located in Bellingham, Locust Beach offers not only breathtaking scenery but also consistently strong winds. The conditions are optimal with a south to southwest wind, while southeast winds can be a bit unpredictable. If the wind gods decide otherwise, Sandy Point is a great alternative.
Tides play a crucial role here. Aim for a tide between 2ft and 7ft for the perfect experience. During lower tides, be prepared for a leisurely stroll to the water's edge, while higher tides might present a challenge for launching due to the limited beach space. Advanced riders can utilize the logs as anchors.
Expect a flat, shallow terrain adorned with gentle rollers, and a community of welcoming fellow enthusiasts. The prime seasons are spring and fall, as winter can be a tad chilly, but not impossible.
For the most accurate forecast, TJ Olneys RASP Loop is your go-to source. Check it out here after 8pm the day before and at 8am on the day of your adventure. If the outlook is promising and rain isn't on the horizon, seize the opportunity!

The journey from the well-marked parking lot at the intersection of Locust Avenue and Marine Drive is a bit of a hike, but the picturesque route is well worth it. Please exercise caution and avoid leaving valuables or gear in your vehicle.
Upon arriving, we rendezvoused with Shahab and Christopher. Despite initial light and gusty conditions, I launched my 14 and soon discovered a windier realm. The session unfolded with a repertoire of gravity-defying stunts, from inverts to board-offs, one-footers, and backrolls. Just as my GoPro called it a day, the wind intensified dramatically, shifting from southeast to south and southwest. It was a full-throttle ride, with 10m jumps and landings requiring some extra assistance.
This is the quintessential Locust experience - challenging, exhilarating, and unforgettable. It was an absolute blast!
Stay tuned for more adventures, and we'll catch you in the next one.

Best thing about Locust is that the hill at the back of the bay going up like 100 feet causes some crazy updrafts so when you are boosting on big days there sometimes you get a whole extra kick upwards when you expect to be heading downwards.
