In this episode we push on with the cab swapped, 1HDFTE beast of a 105 landcruiser. I have put in some long days but am making great progress. The 105 chassis has been prepped, painted and ready to go. The 100 series cab has been lifted off and the engine and transmission is almost ready to come out.

Sick build. I had rust on the chassis where the wheel carrier mounts. Might be worth dropping for a quick look

Thanks mate! I agree, I’m stoked the original look will all work too, almost all parts used will be Toyota factory parts which is great for longevity of the car. It’s a forever 4x4 this one 👌

Great to see its progressing. I'm about to do a very similar build. I am planning to strengthen the chassis (Steering box mount, rear of chassis, shock mounts), then cleanup and then Galvanizing the Chassis, then painting it Chassis black. I know a couple of others have done this with their 105/100 Chassis/Body Swaps with success. I'm planning on the car being kept by me of in the family forever so would rather do thing once and to last. I would be interested in your thoughts on the Galvanizing vs how you have done it route.

Nice one mate! I think galvanizing is probably a better option for rust prevention however with how little surface rust was on the 105 chassis and how thorough I am with cleaning I think the epoxy will be enough for it to last many moons to come.

Yeah I love it. Can’t fit twin cannons on the 105 chassis but am going to keep one to reuse for sure

Wow that is a lot of rust on the 100, mostly scrap. The new 105 is shaping up nicely. That's a lot of work but it could be a car that will last you the rest of your life. 👍

Yeah mate 100 chassis is a full write off but I already knew that. A bit more work than I wanted in the cab but all very manageable. Have cut all the rust out and about halfway through repairs. It’s a car for life so happy to spend the time getting it right 👌

What products did you use for the Chassis rust removal, prep and coating? I was going to get mine Gal Dipped and then coat it, but I think I will just prep, clean up and seal. I was a bit surprised by the relatively poor performance of some of the supposed expensive and quality products, see this Video as its some great testing and analysis. Unfortunately, you can't seem to get MasterCoat AG111 products in Australia. What did you use? I see that Sika have a cavity wax product.

are you going to use new body mounts when dropping the cab on the 105 chassis? mine have recently deteriorated and its doing my head in! Nice work!

Hey mate yep new body mounts are going in as the old ones feel a bit hard. I’ve replaced engine and trans mounts too, trying to get as much of that stuff done whilst it’s pulled apart don’t want to have to do it again 👍🏼
