Come and watch me modify and restore cars and 4x4's that i track and take offroad camping and on the 4wd trails. I'm a car enthusiast and import JDM cars to customize and race on the track and cruise the streets I also enjoy buying project cars locally and fixing them up. I upload videos of my project cars, imports and some of the modifications im doing. I also drag, drift and circuit race my cars posting content on this channel! thanks for watching and subscribing!
We did toy around with a bit more boost when tuning it and the gains were not really worthwhile for the extra couple psi. Going from 11 up to 12-13 we saw really good gains and that seemed to be the sweet spot
Hey mate yes I’m running off the alt-s fuse. I really only set the gauge up for egt and boost but figured it’s a good way to keep an eye on the alternator too
Good idea for the voltage/alternator monitor. I also own an FTE-105/ 5speed auto, you're going to love yours when it's finished. NB when I'm loaded to GVM and towing 2.2T in 35deg fnq heat, I drive it exactly how you wheel the 1Hz .. by the EGT guage, set at 550deg alarm for the hills. I know the fte can take more heat, however, I possess mechanical sympathy like you, so shift gears watching egt and trans temp to keep them down👍You're point on the 'tune' being so important with the Hz, is identical for the fte, I've had mine redone to drop egts, now it's mint.😊
@Oz4me_craig that sounds awesome mate! Do you find the 550 mark often? Man everyone who has done the swap absolutely loves it! I’m that bloody keen to get it on the road
Love the videos mate, I'm fairly local to you I'm pretty sure and I am starting a big 105 1hz build atm. In regards to the Ram and making more videos, make as many videos of what ever you want! More content is good 👍🏼🍻
Nice mate! I’m on the central coast, if you see me around say hi! Always keen to see another cruiser getting built and I’ve got a soft spot for the old 1hz! I think we’ll do a couple short fun videos on the Ram as I’ve just finished a large project at work and should have a bit of time on my hands again
love the rig, how uch you parting with it for and ill dm you I been wanting to import some through nippon and fix em up. is that colour nardo grey look great! keep up the vids bro.
Thanks mate, it’s a slow old build on the 25 with life often getting in the way but I have big plans for the next few months and will hopefully have it on the road this year
@@onstreetgarage I got it off an old guy he was about 93 and really sick , he didn’t want to sell it ,his daughter nearly pulled the pin on the day ,he loved it .he didn’t want to meet me I think it upset him that it was going i wanted to get a pic with him.I sold it to my mate and you probably know the rest of the story..
Good to see a fellow Aussie.. plan on importin a white manual.. good to know they’re worth it from what everyone is saying and sleeper.. don’t attract attention
You should have a lot more views, mate. What an unreal build. Can’t wait until you bolt her all together and start working on the mods. Can’t believe how trashed that Jap chassis was. They must have lived near the coast or driven over a lot of salted snow roads.
I have a DTS turbo in my 105 3 inch exhaust it’s it’s 100% better on power and towing got it done at Berrima diesel plus they tuned it and mine is manual
Thanks mate! I agree, I’m stoked the original look will all work too, almost all parts used will be Toyota factory parts which is great for longevity of the car. It’s a forever 4x4 this one 👌
Hey mate yep new body mounts are going in as the old ones feel a bit hard. I’ve replaced engine and trans mounts too, trying to get as much of that stuff done whilst it’s pulled apart don’t want to have to do it again 👍🏼
Great to see its progressing. I'm about to do a very similar build. I am planning to strengthen the chassis (Steering box mount, rear of chassis, shock mounts), then cleanup and then Galvanizing the Chassis, then painting it Chassis black. I know a couple of others have done this with their 105/100 Chassis/Body Swaps with success. I'm planning on the car being kept by me of in the family forever so would rather do thing once and to last. I would be interested in your thoughts on the Galvanizing vs how you have done it route.
Nice one mate! I think galvanizing is probably a better option for rust prevention however with how little surface rust was on the 105 chassis and how thorough I am with cleaning I think the epoxy will be enough for it to last many moons to come.
Hey mate no it’s not a requirement. I have heard mixed reviews with people having issues with the steering shaft binding up when using the 100 crash bar. A couple of people have now mentioned that with their swaps the steering shaft was a mix of parts from each and they haven’t had any issues
Hey mate I’m so glad I found your channel! I was just searching up 1hdfte content because I’m mad about it ! Awesome project, pretty much most 100 series owners dream build ! Keep up the great work 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Wow that is a lot of rust on the 100, mostly scrap. The new 105 is shaping up nicely. That's a lot of work but it could be a car that will last you the rest of your life. 👍
Yeah mate 100 chassis is a full write off but I already knew that. A bit more work than I wanted in the cab but all very manageable. Have cut all the rust out and about halfway through repairs. It’s a car for life so happy to spend the time getting it right 👌
Hey Alex, thanks so much for these vids. I've just started looking at importing a HDJ101 to register here in VIC, but from the early research I've done it doesn't seem possible as its not older than 25 years old and isn't on the SEVS register..? Any info would be appreciated
Hey mate no worries! I really enjoy sharing my experience with these beasts. Thats correct they need to be 25 years old. My one is a 1998 so it’s good to go. Late models aren’t eligible yet but obviously will be very soon. Anything up to June 1999 can come over for now 👌
Nice work mate. Just went through this exact same swap on my cruiser. Won’t regret it, drives so much better with an fte. Kinda wish I used a JDM donor now haha. Not sure if you mentioned it, but you should drop the petrol fuel tanks while you have good access
Thanks mate, yeah the JDM is hiding a couple of secrets I’ll get to but overall I’m bloody stoked with it. Good call, I didn’t mention that. I’m reusing the tank in the 100 cab so petrol tanks are going with the old cab. I’m jealous yours is done I can’t wait to have it on the road!
When I researched for my swap, they reckon 100 tanks won’t fit. You’ll need to use 105 petrol tanks and swap the diesel pickups over, which is what I did. If the diesel tanks work I’ll be keen to know. Few people have mixed results with the stock power steering pump, but mines fine. I just took my time bleeding it with the axle on jacks going full lock side to side Won’t be far off, just a few decent days on the tools and she’ll be running 👍👍
I have a petrol 105 , during Covid I purchased a 100 series and swapped everything of that into my 105 . It is now the most awesome car. The conversion was well worth the effort. Now has a lot more torque and is early twice as good on fuel consumption . Now very happy with my car and will never part with it
@@onstreetgarage took about 1000 hours over 6 months to do it but all service work was done like cam belt , water pump was doine at the same time . 3 “ exhaust Massive intercooler Rebuild climate control Red Arc gauges . Etc . Any questions are welcome Crash bar outta the 105 must be used . Use braided stainless steel fuel lines .
You can get these plug in modules for the Toyota Crowns that will give you more functions on the factory headhunt, like apple car play. Not sure if there is one for the JDM 100 series but worth looking into. Mighty Car Mods actually just put a video up with their crown doing this
I saw that video but haven’t found anything for a hdj101k yet. It would t be an ideal fix in my opinion as the existing screen is in average condition. I have found a company that replace the screen and retain hard controls for the AC. Price is reasonable and they have someone in house who works with me to make sure it all works. Will report back on how it goes
So weird. I was actually looking at these on car sales last week. Now this RU-vid video pops up. 🤔🤔 Great video mate. I actually like them. I’m keen on the Active Vacation model. Cheers.
Thanks Steve, if you’re Guna do it and you’re not in a rush I’d definitely import one rather than by one already here. The local ones I’ve seen seem to have $10k markup on them
@gixxr88 they need to be 25 years old so you can’t import them just yet but if you allowed $30k you’d get everything you’ve asked for there with super low kms in mint condition. $25k would get a reasonable one in with around 200,000km
Yeah nice! I haven’t seen any here with that spoiler just the tinted visor thing. Yours must be pretty rare mate! Bloody keen to be sitting in the 100 cab when she’s done lovely place to be
