as i was reading your comment i was thinking about how when i watch videos besides 4runner videos that i’m going to see other biases besides ones that line up with mine and then i kept reading your comment and i was relieved to see that you also have a 4runner bias 💪🏽
For those new to your channel, can you do a video on why you selected the Lexus GX470 for overlanding. The most common trucks seen offroad are Jeeps and Tacomas, so very curious what led you to select the GX470. Awesome content, keep it coming. 👏
Hey bro. You've inspired & convinced me to go with the GX470. Appreciate the fresh and creative outlook from a fellow Canuck. Ive been slowly doing my research and hopefully I'll be ready to start sourcing one in the next year. Keep up the great content!
Stunning build Logan. Definitely my dream car, and your build is my dream build. Classy clean and rugged. Prices really skyrocketed though so that's definitely on the backburner. Great job! Thanks for the video and inspiration.
Your videos made me recently pull the trigger on a red dog front bumper. Love the low profile of it. You did a beautiful build with some nice original touches on your gx. Thanks for sharing.
@@slopppy75 Glad you asked. I ordered it 7 months ago....weeks and months would go by with zero communication from red dog.....then....finally they say it's complete....then ghost me for a week with no shipping quote. Then I line up shipping and they stop responding. I get pissed and start messinging on FB, calls and emails. Then , red dog says they didn't like that I was trying to get a hold of them that way and they canceled my order with no warning after holding $2300 for 7 months. Then took 4-5 days to refund the $. Super pissed. Do not recommend that company. Extremely unprofessional.
@@slopppy75 I completely agree....I was super bummed when they canceled my order. I would have way rather just have had them send me the damn thing. Such a bummer
🙌🏻 That interior mount is dope, I see something new I want everytime I look at your truck! Magnaflow 12256 Satin Stainless Steel 2.5" Oval Muffler is a good muffler option.
Clean and good looking Rig. I still have issues with rubbing with -38 offset. SPC UCA, body mount relocation. Running 285/75/17's and rubbing the firewall. Had to switch to 285/70/17 and no issues... Love that front bumper...Ordered back in April and have not heard a peep from them. Was told 10 week lead time and we are at 16 weeks now. Cannot get ahold of anyone and they are not returning emails. Can't even call them as no number listed...
Great content man, I just got a 2008 GX and I am trying to figure out what my options are when it comes to mods. I am curious what have you spent on mods up to this point? Keep up the awesome work!
Some of the products I am testing for companies and Im in Canada where everything is more expensive but I would say to budget around 10-12k to get it like mine is.
Hi Logan, I am interested in upgrading my 2005 lx 470tires/rim's to 35". Most of the video's that I have seen, have major modifications. When I watched your video the amount of materials removed seemed minimal vs. others. Is there anything else you did to gain clearance? Thanks in advance for your time. Your channel is awesome and for a newbie like me, I am also learning a ton.
Please post some woodworking videos. I am in the process of optimizing my garage to make it a more functional workspace and I would like to see how/why you designed yours the way you did. Thanks for the great videos! Happy Holidays. -Max
Love this rig and setup! One day when my GX crosses the bridge from daily driver to off road dedicated I want to get a more aggressive bumper like you have.
Eyes fixed on your woodshop right from the beginning 👀 GX is cool but woodworking video tho!!! Been relying on RU-vid woodworking videos thru my initial lockdown period...
These rigs are amazing! Seems to be a nice blend of Toyota Landcruiser and 4runner in a lux package! The only issue would have to be the KDSS (Shock system). I would delete it and go with a proven off road setup. I would really get into the suspension and redo the geometry for better travel and comfort; all in one, if possible. Body armor would be a good priority if offloading! I really like your setup so far. Thank you!
I have a GX 470 with KDSS and banged it off many a rock over the last two years. I might mention the KDSS is not a shock system, it is a sway bar lock / unlock system. Similar to jeeps with electronic sway bar disconnect, except KDSS is totally automatic and it works. The KDSS performs like a champ.
That would make sense because of all the new advances in off-road technology. If you could incorporate this system with a new and compatible spring and shock setup, you could have a best of both worlds kinda deal. Nice!
Nice build Logan. Any tire rubbing? I have 2005 gx470 on 35s with the same suspension and JBA ucas. Unfortunately, it rubbs a lot. I've decided to install 1.5 in body lift; hope, it will help to avoid this issue.
Nice video, I'm about to start building my LC200 2014. Trying hard to get a few videos done before the first major shop mods, if not for youtube at least for my memories. LOL. Keep it up and I'd love to see some of the wood projects.
I am thinking about getting one of these as an off-road toy. What are some of the standard equipment options that I need to be looking for as well as trim package wise? Does it come standard with Lockers, front and rear? How big of tires can I go with on the standard axles and half shafts? Stuff like that. Thank you! Great Video by the way and your GX looks awesome!! Love that front bumper and cargo area!!
By far this the best looking 470 I've ever seen! I subscribe to your video and I'm hooked. If you didn't get a 2008, what other years would you have considered?
Hey Logan, You talked about putting sliders on the GX. You also asked about wood working. I was kicking around building some wood sliders. Don’t laugh, cars use to be built out of wood, and did some pretty crazy roads. I was thinking some Ash sliders with metal casing. They could be replaced if broken or cracked, but I think it would look pretty sick. What do you think?
Love your videos, I hope you don't mind me copying your whole setup(Santa will get me the bumper for Christmas tho), I'm jumping on a set of pro truck today and was wondering if there's any issues if I have kdss on the gx? mine is an 04... You know I need that clearance for the potholes and snow here in Montreal, Quebec...
YEAH, DUDE! Nice rig! 'loved the shot @00:50 Your setup appeals to my desire. NOT STOCK, custom. But, not crazy either. I'm going to take a shot and guess that at the time of filming your tires rubbed. How did you acheive the wide stance? Wider wheels? Longer anxles? I want to modify my stance to be wider (the footprint of my tires to be more accurate) , without applying stresses or rubs and I concluded initially that a wider rimmed tire and a wider wheel combined with fender sawing and 2-3" lift would be the most effecient and effective option.
Thank you! Yeah the width is mostly due to the offset of the wheels (-38) but also my tires are pretty wide 315/70r17 from Mickey Thompson are about 13 inches wide I think. You are correct with making them fit, lots of cutting, body mount chop and my spc aftermarket upper controls arms help a lot to push the tire forward in the wheel well by increasing caster. I have very very minimal rubbing out on the trails.
I really wish they made a bumper for the 4th gen 4runner ive been waiting to see for about a year and have messaged them but no signs of anything 4th gen related
Great rig! You mentioned that you sleep inside. Did you build the drawers to give a flat surface when the back seats are down? If so how long is the space? Would it accommodate a 6 ft tall person? Would love to see a video for that.
I like your GX set up. Can you tell me how the rear ladder is installed and how far from the door does it stick out? Lastly, where do you carry your spare tire?
Sort of confused by this setup. The front is about as close to perfect as I have seen, but it's odd what is missing. If you took that rig to Moab you would have one scraped up rear end. Why no rear high clearance bumper? And no sliders? I tend to think that a skilled driver will have less use for rock sliders, however if you screw up, rock sliders can save you for damage and they also give you options in some situations.
I love your content dude! Mine is also a blizzard that I am building. For the grill, will any enamel do or is there a preferred brand? Btw, if you're ever concerned with paint protection check out the adams polish graphene kit! ordered one today myself.
Thank you! No it has just been taken good care of its whole life, paint corrected and ceramic coated, it does have its flaws though that just dont show up on video.
