I have worked around machine shops and as a erector machinist(field work) most of my life where sometimes you had to be a little creative to make a tool or fixture to get the job done. Although I'm impressed with your panel saw track system. I have seen pulleys made using a bearing sandwiched between two washers before. But what you did for "your application" was incredible. Kudos on the planning with the exception of the placement of the rig. Placing it closer to the floor would prevent dropped testicles later!😂 thanks for the share.

Demaciada demora. Si tiene en cuenta mientras corre la madera en vez de asegurarla con prensas se debe colocar la maquina en 80 grados vertical ya la madera se adiere a la base y pasa la sierra y corta perfectamente sin asegurar tablas con prensas 👌

Use the William Ngh five cut method to square the fence
@MagSun
@MagSun 3 года назад
Also rotate for each cut. Don't cut two sides resting on the same side against the fence. (Errors won't add up that way....)

I am admittedly NEW to woodworking, but I have started taking on some fun home improvement projects. Can someone explain to me how pulling the saw down in the opposite direction than how it was designed to cut is an efficient or ideal way to do it? I mean, I understand that ergonomically you have to set the saw in place that way to grip it and activate the saw trigger. But isn't it cutting in the wrong direction? Has the blade been inserted backward to compensate or am I just way off base here?

Nice! Very nice! One relatively minor concern - the counterweight cable was permanently attached to the front of the circular saw. In case you ever want to use the saw elsewhere, it might be a good idea to affix the cable to the wood or metal base on which the saw rests. Best wishes!

Is it wise to install the saw with this rotation direction? The tracks prevent it from "jumping out", but still...

I really enjoyed your video and I am impressed by your design. I noticed that the saw cuts backwards. Is there a reason for this?
@jhonarief
@jhonarief Год назад
Thank you,the reason it backward because working objek is against the base, so the blade work is just like table saw, the different is on table saw we move the work object not the blade, on panel saw we move the blade, that is my thought

the disc rotates counterclockwise? So this is a better way to push the wood on the back support?

Just curious, running the saw in a reverse direction cuts? Also, are there any plans?

Plans is inside the video,

Running it backwards would cut same way as if you push the stock trough on table saw with zero clearance insert.

Approximately how much does it weigh. I must make mine portable.
@jhonarief
@jhonarief 3 года назад
depend on your materials, if you using all plywood instead of MDF I think it lighter than mine. mine now around 40-60kg with the counterweight

How did you decide the max cut length of the panel?
@jhonarief
@jhonarief 3 года назад
My panel saw that I build is 120cm max cut
@jhonarief
@jhonarief 3 года назад
120cm is max cut widht but you can cut as long as you want or your wall length just line up with the blade track you will get precision length that you want

waduh pingin ikutan bikin deh.. ,Master Jhon kalo gak reverse-cut, susah gak mencetnya? soalnya ngeliat JSK kyknya biasa, tp kalo dipikir2 takutnya susah mencet trigernya.
@jhonarief
@jhonarief 3 года назад
@parkbarae8790
@parkbarae8790 3 года назад
@@jhonarief ooo, mungkin pemberatnya harus jauh lebih berat dari circularnya yaa soalnya kalau logika saya sih kalau reverse, seperti saya naik motor yg masih distandar berdiri trus digas kemudian diturunin standarnya sambil didorong dari belakang nanti ban belakang akan menggigit tanah dan motor akan melaju sulit dikendalikan. beda cerita dengan normal cut jadi kalau diturunin standarnya sambil direm ban depan atau ditahan/didorong dari depan kebelakang nanti ban belakang akan berputar ditempat menggali tanah, parah2 paling bannya mandek.
@jhonarief
@jhonarief 3 года назад

A tracksaw is more versatile... how in GODS name would you wrestle an 8 x 4 sheet of 3/4" ply up there between the saw rails & the wall ? 😖

Then make a second level French cleat for mounting it lower for heavier sheets......der

Sheet goods in US seem to be larger than in other countries. Consequently, American panel saws are generally mounted lower. For smaller panels, a 1x or a 2x, this is a good height. How high off the floor is a table saw or miter saw? Also, this kind of configuration is likely to produce a better - as in “more square” - cut than some miter saws. Some folks make a similar jig that lies flat, but that requires space, just like a track saw does. Of course, this does consume some wall space. For my part, I am planning to build a new cart for storing sheet goods, with the capability to cut sheet goods on the back side, using a circular saw and straight edge. For smaller pieces, I plan to put something like this on the wall. My junior Army officers and engineering students were frequently reminded that there is always more than one way to solve a problem, and every decision involves trade offs. Also, some overlap in capabilities can be a very good thing to have at times.
