Hey guys, one suggestion I would make would be to place towels over the edge of the glass when you're placing rock into the new tank. I've saved my glass big time by doing that. Awesome work though!
Just a tip if your struggling to fit a hose onto a hosetail try putting the tubing into some hot / boiling water for a few seconds which will help soften it, Makes life so much easier!
Funny you say that. We started the kettle boiling, but I couldn’t wait so I tried anyway. It was really difficult but I got it on just as the kettle came to the boil😂
Brilliant tank .the owners must have come home and have been so excited to see such a fantastic tank .the fish will love the space. If reef beard is having a giant tank are you guys going to share it with us viewers ..
Reefbeard has a great nano tank that we will feature one day, Shedboy is the one doing the huge tank. We will definitely do a series on Shedboys tank. Cam
That tank really had some mega hot corals, great job team Gallery. Hard work comes easy when you joke around. Hats off to ReefBeard putting all the other beards to shame.
For the love of the universe, next time you’re commentating on Reefbeard in his natural habitat, you have to throw in a “crickey Mate”!! What has the world come to when Aussies miss the opportunity to include a small bit of fun and cheer into their daily lives?! Craziness! Breaking my heart, just breaking my heart! *oh and maybe include a “that’s not a reef tank, now that’s a reef tank”. Thanks guys!
@@GalleryAquaticaTV accepted! Hoping on a plane right now to Down Under! Don’t be shy to play up those Aussie quotes Gallery Aquatica!, us Canadians love that stuff!!
I like these tank swaps because it reminds me of our house fire and how I had to move the aquarium around the house as the construction team rebuilt it room by room. 520 liters reef tank moved 6 times around the house. Had to import water from the fish store and electricity from the neighbor for 6 months.
Great video again, thinking of getting a redsea 525 myself so it was great for me, looking forward to your next video already 😀, oh the metal things that put the cabinet together are called cam & pins ☺️, see youse next time Colin🏴
@@GalleryAquaticaTV only from like 15 years of experience and when I got my second tank I was watching the front edge soooo carefully I chipped the back edge .......... 😀
Love those big tank transfers, it’s great 👍 watching everybody doing there bit, to bring it all together in the allotted time, all very professional, and no fish or corals harmed while filming. 🎥 😂😂 Well done Cam and the team. 👍🏴
@@GalleryAquaticaTV yeah it was good to see the fun side.. I just installed a Reefer 425 xl on my own over here in the uk and I could have done with the guys help!! Seriously though, have loved your content for a long time, just gutted I can’t pop in to buy some frags!!
You have more faith in that trolley than me, just looking at it I don't think I would trust it to hold a tray of food on it much less a glass tank of that size! I am happy to see (hear) you using the clutch on the electric drill though when screwing in the hinges, way too easy to rip out that Ikea like particle board Red Sea tends to make their stands out of
Fabulous video as ever from Your channel cam .. great content.. that’s an Amazing tank something I’m looking at getting to soon.. Best wishes from The Uk 🇬🇧
Good to see professionals have fun at work, this makes even such a big build look easy. Passion is the key! Greetings Form Austria, waiting for the next awesome vid.👍
Thats right, I remember the waterbox now. The cades seem like amazing tanks with some nice features like the power centres. I've got a old cade about 870L, painted white sides (was a arrowana tank) who knows what model but is built SOLID. Looking forward to that install if your able to film it :) Thanks like always for taking the time to reply, its much appreciated.
As always a great video. This tank is amazing but i had only space for a red sea peninsula 650. It was nice to see that you and you're team have fun at you're job. Regards from germany...
I really enjoy watch this transfer tank videos thxs for sharing. I'm in the process of upgrading my tank and transfer my livestock to it so is easy on me in doing so by watching this. By the way is a massive 30gal tank 😊🤪
Mainly because it doesn’t hurt the system to have a bit of silt in the water for a while and time is of the essence, however we also avoid rinsing it as we want to preserve as much beneficial bacteria as possible. Cam
Did you use the music your baby loves the most for this video? The nicknames you made up are epic - though I don't know what The Shed as a name has to do with reefing I think 2 other blokes musta chucked a sickie There was this ad about reading poetry to your pets - seriously - do you recommend that technique? How did you bribe the corals and the fish? Did you use a special supplement? Happy Reefing Cam!
Haha! Shed-Boy refers to the fact he is supposed to spend most of his time working in Ania’s propagation room (which is actually a shed). The funny thing is that he’s too handy in the shop or on the road so he hardly spends any time in the shed these days. Cam
Hi Kerry! For this tank we used Carribsea Fiji Pink, which is quite a fine grade of sand, probably 1mm or so (I don’t think they actually rate the grade on the packet). Cam
Thanks for the reply, this is the same I used for my tank as well. This video was really an informative and educational one ..thanks again for taking us along
Guys, it's called a hose clamp. This little metal device to prevent hoses from leaking. I cannot believe you're gonna run hoses that are too small and likely to split as the material ages. This isn't that hard.
If it’s full of bacterial silt and detritus it will cause an ammonia spike, but this sand was pretty clean (and if it wasn’t I would have rinsed it clean). The main reason why we keep the sand is to ensure there is enough aerobic bacteria in the new tank to avoid ammonia in the days following the transfer. Cam
We didn’t add anymore biological media to the new system, only what was in the previous tank. Given that we didn’t increase the amount of livestock there should be more than enough bacteria to keep the new tank stable, however feeding conservatively is important in a tank that has been transferred like this to avoid ammonia spikes. Cam
We didn’t test after the installation, but we use lots of natural seawater which we know the parameters of, so we have a good idea what the levels in the tank are like. Cam
What do you do with old tanks??? I have a redsea max 130d i want to upgrade to a bigger one... Id be interested in buying a used tank and also giving u my old red sea max q30d and its completely operational
If you let your sand turn into a septic mess then you have more issues with reefing. The sand was transferred across because it holds good bacteria, and will only help in the new tank.
it doesn't matter how much you clean your sand bed there is still going to be a bunch of nasty gunk in it as you could see from your video the water was brown. Also most all the beneficial bacteria would have died off so re-adding the old sand without first rinsing it well would cause a mini cycle/crash however were there was enough live rock in there it may have curbed that issue to a point but still seems like a very large risk for 50-100$ worth of sand in such a expensive tank build.
@@kutcha20 there was no nasty gunk in the old sand, and there was no reason why we would have lost the beneficial bacteria in the old sand. Changing to new sand during this sort of job is one of the most common mistakes people make that leads to losses.
Again there is always going to be nasty gunk in old sand (again it is shown in your video with how brown the water was with the old sand) also the old sand's beneficial bacteria would have died as the bacteria we are talking about lives in a anaerobic zone of low oxygen and flow and once it was exposed to the air it would of died. Finally the mistake people make isn't using new sand it is that they don't take a cup full of the old sand to seed the new sand for microfauna as at that point that is the only true benefit you are getting from the old sand
@@kutcha20 The brown water is bacterial silt, it’s not nasty. You can see and smell when sand has gone anoxic and if that happens you don’t use it in the new tank. Trust me, I do these transfers more than anyone snd I’ve learnt from experience.
