Hope you guys enjoy the video, please let me know if you have any questions. Big thanks to everyone who lent in watches! www.japan-onlinestore.com/ is a good place to buy JDM Seiko
Great video Bruce. Personally, Seiko gave us all the opportunity to enjoy horology regardless of our preference or financial ability. They always made something for everyone at great quality. I find it sad that many of us eventually move on to scoff at Seiko when we "upgrade" to swiss brands like Rolex, Omega, Panerai etc (Tudor and Longines even being "entry") These brands never looked out for the smaller guys and were always after our money to pay for their marketing. Seiko on the contrary, really did a lot to stretch that mileage on what we pay for. With money going into upgrades, frequent updates to their lines. Simple details like mass upgrade for all Z22 straps into the new softer straps, hacking upgrade for all entry movements. I'm glad that folks like you help "market" Seiko because they don't spend too much in that area and you do a great job in sharing to new and old enthusiast alike!
Thanks, that is a well thought out comment. Although Seiko definitely has some flaws and issues, one the whole we really get spoiled with the selection and practicality of their offerings. They aren't the best watches ever but are my favorite brand. So enjoyable!
I own many Rolex and Omega watches....my Seikos hold their own. I never scoff at Seiko. I find Seiko can rival many Swiss watches on movements and overall quality. My Grand Seiko Snowflake Spring Drive would rival any Swiss brand.
Up until recently, I've collected Swiss dive watches, but, right now, I'm having a blast with my Seiko Samurais and Turtles. TGV once mentioned that James Cameron was a big Seiko fan. Show me someone who scoffs at Seikos and I'll show you an effin' idiot.
The solution would be to “upgrade” to Grand Seiko so we can get higher quality watches but also still remain loyal to the watchmaker that looked out for the “little guy” 😄
Great lineup...and thanks for such a comprehensive showing. I have worn an SKX for a decade and love it...sadly the service costs more than the watch. I tried the monster, and it just didn't work for me. I recently saddled up and forked out a lot of cash for the SBBN033 Tuna. And I am glad I did...I love everything about that watch.
Great video I own an skx007 and recently bought the pepsi turtle ( padi ed ) This is allready a big step up! Looking forward to 1 day buying the marine master or the tuna.
All great watches. I just got a samurai pepsi last week, and I love the way it wears. Super comfortable, and they come in a few different styles. Fits smaller on the wrist due to short lug to lug. Love the silicon strap as well, it's extremely high quality and rugged.
Great collection! I have the 031 tuna and love it! Have had most of those , love all of them especially the mm300. I wish the shogun was a little bigger , to small. Loved the look And lightness 👌🏻
Great vid. I would agree that even people with smaller wrists should not assume they can't wear some of these. I have 6.5 inch wrists and thought I could not wear a Turtle until I was in Macy's one day and tried one on. It fit great. The shorter lug to lug dimension is more important than case diameter. Always try on watches at AD's and department stores. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Great video of some of my favorite watches. Even that purple one is cool as how many legitimate dive watches have that color combination. The Marine Master is the standard.
Great video...I have many of the Seikos on your table and love them...awaiting on the delivery of a blue dial Transocean...also recently bought a Grand Seiko Snowflake Springdrive with gold hands and gold accents while in Bev Hills...like you said...Seiko has something for everyone at every price point and all quality.
ohhh my goodness.what a collection.i think you missed 1great piece or not shown in that presentation.the 1st gen of Seiko SHF045P 150 pepsi vintage.im lucky to have one to my left wrist.Still working like a charm.liked your suggestions a lot.thumbs up my friend👍👍👍👍👍
Love your videos Bruce. You're a big reason why I've gotten into Seiko in the first place! The value proposition is just excellent with Seiko. I have an MM300 which is a joy to wear and glance at. I'm now tempted by the 62MAS reissue, but thinking to put the money towards a submariner no date.
I have a SBDC 053 and absolutely love the watch from the fit and finish to the dial which is gorgeous. it also keeps crazy accurate time +3-5 seconds a day. I just picked up the bracelet that comes with the 051 so now it’s complete. I have really been thinking of MM300 for a while but the 053 has fulfilled that need!
+Ray Caroli That's a nice watch too. I picked up one of them at the Seiko boutique in Moscow. Just ordered a few straps online to go with it. I really enjoy the piece, although not a fan of the silicone strap it came with. It wears quickly and gets quite linty. There's just something about the reissue though... that dial... those hands... Although, a quality original would be nice with applied Seiko logo and all. As for the MM300, you won't be doing yourself a disservice if you eventually get one. It feels like a tank (and it kinda is one). The bracelet is very nice as far as Seiko bracelets go! Although, I can't help but think it goes better on rubber.
Thanks for a great video. I am looking for a watch for my cousin who is a marine...but broke. This has helped me decide if I could find a used Marine Master - but I live in Asia!
The Marine master (discontinued) is the best one imo. Such a balanced watch performance and looks. I have the Samurai SRPB51 (two-toned black/grey on black waffle dial, bracelet) and I get so many compliments on that watch. I believe though, if I had the titanium version w/ a blue waffle face (SBDA003)....I don't know, it might be the end of divers for me personally. I really love the shape and how the layout w/ the bezel:dial ratio of the Samurai and fit on the wrist. But the reality is I love mine, but never seen or had a Marine master on the wrist. Or maybe a Shogun titanium....(down the rabbit hole) but to me, there's sooo many similarities to the Submariner, practically a quality homage.
Hey Bruce, I’m checking out the Save The Ocean Samurai with the gradient dial. I’m just worried that after Summer it might not be the same to wear in winter!
I find it hard to go to other brands because Seiko does their lume so well. I'm such a lume snob! I've heard Omega's newest PO lume is great, but what a price tag....
Very nice watches, fell inlove with Seiko's because my Dad had one since I was in Primary School, you can tell am from the Islands, because they dont use the word Prinary in the States.
I think any fan of Seiko should have a Seiko diver. There are so many out there that you know there is one for everybody. I chose the Blue Sumo. Owning a Seiko diver makes you feel like you are a member of a secret club.
is the turtle going to look too huge for my 6 inch wrist? i do have an skx and it looks fine. im planning on getting a turtle but i'm having second thoughts because it might wear too huge for me
Hi Bruce! Great video as always. I have 6 inch wrists and i only feel comfortable wearing the smaller SKX013. Do you think there is any watch I can upgrade to in the small size category among the Seiko divers?
Bruce Williams yes! The sbbn025 has an amazing deep black dial!! Absolutely love it! But then again I miss the 300mm ! Hopefully they will release a new one resembling the new Green Marinemaster!
