WOW!!! You not only took my suggestion about doing this Settings Review for the RE20, you replaced your other mic you've been using for years with THIS ONE - GOOD FOR YOU!!! This really (to me), is the one of the best VO mics out there and for only $450, you can't beat it! 54 year old mic and GOIN' STRONG!!!

@@MikeRussell Oh, I thought you said that you've "thrown out" your old condenser and you're now working on this dynamic microphone. That's why I said that. If I misunderstood what you said, my bad.

@@WandererCE Yup, it was released back in 1968 and they haven't changed a thing in it's design setup. Still the same. Don't fix what ain't broken! 🙂

Hey Mike, I just desired to say thank you for putting out this incredible video (as well as the other ones), that help you to hone in on specific microphones working with this particular RCP2 unit. You truly take the time to put out excellent and detailed videos that are visually descriptive and yet easy to understand. this particular video that you did for the RE20 helped me out, and after following your steps, I was actually able to tweak it to my voice and I’m very happy with the results! Thank you again for your continued dedication and passion for making this happen!❤😊

Curious, why didn't you select RODE's RE20 Settings and adjust it from there? Were you just looking to start with a "blank canvas" when doing setting up this mic?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell Год назад
I wanted to get what I believed to be the best settings so best to start from the beginning rather than adjust something else

Hey Mike, why not just select the RE20 preset in the mic selection?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell Год назад
Good point! If the RE20 preset suits your needs and sounds good definitely use it. I was suggesting a more customized approach but presets can be a great starting point.

I actually like my RE20 standard out of the box - can you advise on how we could tweaked the Shure SM7B to sound like the RE20?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell 3 месяца назад
The Shure SM7B can be tweaked to sound similar to the Electro-Voice RE20 by adjusting the EQ settings, such as boosting the highs and lows while cutting the mids, and experimenting with different microphone placement techniques.

While the settings in the video are demonstrated using the RodeCaster Pro 2, the concepts can generally apply to the Wave XLR with some tweaks and experimentation to achieve optimal results for your setup.

Hi Mike wondering if tried the Beyerdynamic M70 pro x for the money I find it’s a very good mic, not that far behind the re20 but probably more comparable with the the re320.

Watch his other vid - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QuGnZRS5zZU.html - the NEW Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X is what he says he uses now. Me I prefer to use the Open Back and currently use the DT 990 Pro, but will be getting the DT 1990 Pro which (I think), is their top of the line headset. They're all great headsets, but the DT 700 Pro X and DT 1990 Pro use thicker pads which (using them for long hours), still feel great on the ears. Hope this helps.

Hey Mike, thanks for the great tutorial on the RodeCaster Pro 2. I have a similar dynamic mic from Rode. When I record in Adobe Audition I can really hear my intake of breath very loudly. It is probably a beginners mistake, but is there a way to reduce that?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell Год назад
It's a combination of things. Without meaning to sound round mic technique and breath control is one of those. The effect of the processing will be to enhance the level of breaths to level the audio. You'll need to make a manual adjustment to the compression settings.

Hi Mike, Great content as always! However, I’m running into a problem with my RE20 and I can’t find one of your videos to solve it. My microphone seems to get loud then low while I’m talking to attempting to record. It’s kinda weird. I’ve unplugged and re-plugged cords and I’m a bit aggravated. Any suggestions? Thanks
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell Год назад
Generate a tone on your phone, placethat a distance from your mic and record that. If that records at a constant volume then it's a mic technique issue, if that records at different volumes it's a hardware issue.

I'm debating on getting the rodecaster pro 2. Is there any audio latency when it comes to hearing your own voice when you livestream? And is there a latency if you use the rcp2 as a dac listening to games,movies music, offline ?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell Год назад
If you monitor through the device there is no latency
@Tony-ui2sl
@Tony-ui2sl Год назад
@Mike Russell awesome that helps a ton. I was thinking of the motu m2 with its low latency monitors but I knew i was gonna end up getting dbx booster noise gates etc. Which would add more hassle and more money. Thanks for this and your video of it replacing equipment very helpful for me

I'm only slightly bothered by this tutorial because there is already an existing pre-set for the RE20, if you scroll the other way at the very start.

I've one of this mic since a long time..i used it to record my bass guitar..and now i would like to capture my voice with to live on twitch but my focusrite 2i2 seems not to have enough power to handle it...need to push the gain at maximum to hear me decently while monitoring..so there's wind noise..Does he have especially a low gain ?
