This video was so useful! Law school book pages are notoriously thin, so I’ve been looking for gel highlighters that don’t bleed through. Thanks so much!

@@rishyrishmeow The Mr. Pen gel highlighters. Anyone I hand one to ends up almost immediately buying the yellow and assorted sets on Amazon. They’re fantastic for TB pages. No bleed through at all and super super smooth.

I've found the "Bible-Hi-Glider" work well. They don't need a lot of pressure to work. With less pressure it leaves no clumps on the page and are barely tacky to the touch. Good video.

this is a really awesome and well-edited review. much appreciated! i love that you just go straight to the testing. i've tried other vids and they were practically unwatchable - people asking you to subscribe at the beginning of the vid (before you even find out if it's useful to you!) or they self promote or talk FOREVER. so thank you, so much. you are doing your vid like a more standard stationary vid and it's fantastic. very enjoyable also. * this will be really helpful trying to find a good highlighter to recommend to my mom.

Thank you for this video, it is very helpful :) Previously read an online recommendation that staedtler textsurfer gel works for the bible. I bought the yellow ones (this is esp so for the yellow ones) it didnt appear to have much shadowing initially. But when i went back to it days after, it was bad. The color was really distinct on the back. Glad to know which gel highlighters work and which dont :)

I did my own tests with Mr Pen as well as the Bible Hi-Gliders and I found them both very similar. They both occasionally shed small pieces of material. As for the colors, I personally prefer the calmer shades of the Bible Hi-Gliders. The Mr Pen highlighters were super smooth, and a lot cheaper by comparison, but I'm not a fan of the bright colors as you are. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these highlighters. I'm sure it will boil down to each individuals own taste as to which they prefer. I'm curious if you've done a test of the Micron pens with the archival quality ink?

The only video I found that covers both gel highlighters as well as pens! I was curious if there might be issues with using pens (especially micron pens) AFTER the gel highlighters were used, so thank you for letting us know that they won't work well. I will make sure to underline passages first and let them dry before highlighting them as well!

Thank you dear one. I will put Mr Pen gels on my hope to get list. I use some from walmart and sharpee now with no bleed thru. Love gels hope they are not too toxic as I am trying to get well. Protect us from all the modern chemicals pls Lord. 💕

Thank you for this video! My brother and I were looking for some gel highlighters that don't bleed much, and this video was just the comparison I was looking for. I already have the Accu-Gel, but after letting them sit a while, they form some sort of hard, crystal-like substance over the highlighter that makes it very difficult to use unless you first scrape it off. I like the way they highlight (they do eventually stop sticking), but they were also the only ones there when I got them. So now we're looking for new ones. Thanks again for the recommendations!

That's great to hear! Thank you! I just did a side by side comparison of the Feela (in part 2) and Mr. Pen gel highlighters (my 2 favorites) to decide which one to bring on vacation. They were nearly identical, except for the green color! It's so hard to know what you're getting just by looking at the packaging. :)

great review! would you mind sharing how those pages look after all this time? I've heard that the gel makes the words fade/smear over time but I can't find any reviews on how well the words and pages hold up after the gel has been on them for months, years. thanks!

I tend to stay away from gel because I can't write over it.... wax and ink dont mix... so far I'm thinking the pilot frixxon highlighters work best... you just can't use a heat gun or the ink totally disappears!

Over years highlighting and taking notes going be messy and in the end don't matter what bible you use we all learn God's word do his work spread good news.....I think with so many different bibles that people have idolized image of christian faith.......lost true focus of it......we going be messy in our studying in word was taught well used marked up with notes is most beautiful one shows relationship person has with our heavenly father

Oh! They are twistable! :) Crayon sharpener works, or turn the highlighter as you color until it’s as sharp as you like.

I'm looking for a journaling Bible online, but can't find the information about the GSM paper thickness when purchasing. There is no option for local purchasing. Wanting a plain, single-column, large (9 point) print with no coloring pages or anything like that - just space to make my own notes and references. What would you recommend?

Check out the Zondervan Artisan Collection Bibles. 10pt font, lined margins for notes, and they come in a bunch of different colors and translations. 👍🏾

OH THANK GOD. I have been searching and asking and trying to do my own tests. I also find the Bible Hi-Gliders STICKY. How in the world, though, did you figure out the gsm of the Bible pages?

I actually called Crossway and they sent me an excel spreadsheet of all their Bibles and which paper is in each one. :)

I found the sharpie highlighers, the smear guard and no bleed ones work really good. At least for the bibles I used them in. For the pens my favorite is the style fit mister. www.tokyopenshop.com/mitsubishi-uni-style-fit-series-c-48_50/uni-style-fit-meister-5-p-346.html. The in refills is sold separete. But I have 2 so I'm able to have 10 different pen colors to take to church. The ink comes in different size tip. I have .28 and .38 which allows you to write really small. They don't bleed though or smear.

How do you know how thin or tick is your bible paper?

I called into Crossway, actually! Your Bible manufacturers should know how thick the paper is. I don’t see it written in any of my Bibles. They have a customer service phone number that I used. :)

Yeeeessssss!!! I LOVE them! They work really well if you are using a water soluble medium - the ink won’t run. But....they do bleed through a little. 😬

All of the gel highlighters should be waterproof. They are not water-soluble, so you would not be able to watercolor using these as your medium. If you are using a regular watercolors on top of these gel highlighters, the color may bead up and be splotchy, as it won’t soak into the page in highlighted spots. I would recommend putting clear gesso on the page before your watercolor if you don’t want it to bleed through, but Jessica will not allow watercolor to soak into the page, either. The best watercolor effect I have found on Bible pages has been to use Gelatos! They are water-soluble pigment sticks, and they are amazing 🙌🏼🤩

Some people are of that opinion; however, there is absolutely nothing wrong with writing / marking your Bible. IT is a book; the words and understanding you gain is what matters

I would love to see this video without u speeding thru it cause I am forever looking for a pen that I can highlight over that won’t smear and u don’t tell us anything that is really going on as u are writing and highlighting over
