Ultimate Units Counters Guide for Age of Empires 4 

THIS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED Only started Aoe4 like two weeks ago, my first rts as well and when I'm in my late game I have no clue what units to do and how each one works better against the other.

A suggestion. Not everyone can remember the unit by their icon, especially newer players. So it would be extremely helpful if you mention their names to the left of the icons (only in the vertical column).

Omg yes. This is exactly what I needed. I've had a general idea of what units to build but I very often find myself watching my replays thinking I made the wrong unit.

Thank you so much for this. I catch myself all the time not knowing which unit is strong or weak against what and what the soft counters are, even in Platinum III. I also play more on a casual basis and can't keep up with the DLCs and balance patches adding new changes. I keep losing games because of making the wrong units due to sheer lack of knowledge. It doesn't help that you can't view the unit stats in the in-game tech tree. Because just knowing about damage bonuses isn't enough to make a judgement if you don't know the base values of HP, damage, armor. This game is still missing a lot of essential QOL features. I hope they add them at some point.

so basically handcanoneer is one of best units as it just has 2 counter units (besides mango).

8:37 Camel archers

I've only been playing for a few weeks but I don't think gold cost should be a bigger factor than food or wood into how good a unit is. Idk why everyone treats gold like it's the rarest resource when it seems like there's a lot of ways to get bonus gold or just generate it out of thin air. Wood on the other hand, you have to keep putting up lumber mills and moving your villagers to new trees as the trees disappear. There's not many ways to just produce wood from one static location.

i dont feel like camel rider is red vs men at arms.... camel rider has 270 hp and 14 base attack, men at arms 155 hp 12 base and 4 armor, attack speed on camels is faster, so in each 13 sec ish the men at arms will do 120 dmg, while the camel will do 100 in 11 sec. so on paper camels kills men at arms in around 15/16 sec while a man at arm kills a camel in around 30 sec. i know its more expensive unit but it should be trade orange or yellow.

crossbows and skirmishers are the only units with 6 green hard counters. very efficient and effective units right now against nearly everything.

I'm surprised Mali units are included but not Janissaries? They are not like handcannoners because they have massive bonus against cavalry and completely destroy camel archers.

Janissaries are now the ultimate counter to Camel Archers

useless fact because delhi doesn't have an imperial age, but the tower elephants vs crossbow matchup completly reverses in imperial age, Elite Crossbows kills tower elephants even faster than they can kill war elephants (that's because TE only gets +11vs heavy for going imp and nothing more)

Nice! Spears should be orange v camel archer, in small numbers.. But with some ok micro camels still win easily

I agree with everything except fire Lancers. They are so much more the horseman literally a completely different unit

I know granadiers are expensive, but I did various tests with them 100 granadiers easily destroyed 100 knights. 100 granadiers annihilated 100 hand cannoneers. They beat literally everything at the same number ratio. I dont think they are shit is justified. Then again, I did get destroyed by the last rus player I faced, and I’m not sure how :/ This was done in sandbox max upgrades vs my brother, as england.

Hey beasty, I know you get a lot of requests and silly comments. Im a fan of your work ethic and content and am playing everyday at least one game. But for real man is there a way you could review this one game I played. I'm only a silver I player but I played these Mongols and just want to see what I could've done differently. I really thought I was doing well and then by mid to late feudal it starts falling apart. This game sticks with me because I ben practicing and I still just can't get it together. This player want ranked but had a higher base level than I did. You can share this video on tour you tube but for real man my aoe4 screen name is HEIDO KUSCCCHNIF and the game is the last one I played on 09/27 which I lost against the Mongols. I hope you see this and can just spend a few minutes man, and thank you if you could. I want to get better
