I bought a Sanda after seeing this review of yours. It truly feels like great value for what it is. I hope someone like San Martin would do their own version.
I would LOVE to see someone recreate this exact watch in stainless steel, sapphire, true blued hands, and a Rhonda quartz. I'd pay $150 for something like that in a second 🤞
I had a Pablo Raez "Tank" for about a year. Opted for the smaller version. It was a worthwhile $20, however, it did show some sort of rust or corrosion on the case. With the corrosion and whatnot in mind, I'd say these have a couple years of life in them.
Usually not a fan of these tank watches but every time I watch a review I feel like I need one in my collection. Sanda knocked it out of the park with this one. I think it's safe to say that your review was great because now I'm actually considering getting one :D PS. not sure if you do requests but I'll try: lately I've been seeing a lot of the Berny moonphase watch. Any chance you could get your hands on one and review it?
For $20 why not, right? As for the Berny, they won't deal with me until I hit 5K, so almost there. A lot of their models dont do anything for me and it's not something I want to spend channel money on, but eventually I'll get to 5k and you'll probably see some more Berny's on the channel 👍
I've been enjoying my Sanda Tank a lot more than I thought I would. Even won it for a formal event and it didn't feel (too) weird. It looks great on that dark blue strap you put it on. Thanks for the shout-out Steve, great review!
I personally like the JLC Reverso set up better, so I bought the Rotary Cambridge. 5 times more expensive than the Sanda, but you get 316, saphire and some heritage. Still, if I wanted a tank hommage, I would go with the Sanda too.
Great review, added Sanda to my cart. San Martin need to take note on the Tank and Santos medium style watch cases. If they create this type of watch, it might be the bestseller of all time. Great review as usual 👍🏼
@@EscapeWheel Yes, and there's a reason for this. They make timepieces with simple dials. It's the simplicity that is so satisfying when done right. They showcase a model called the Dumont. It's as if Santos medium and Tank had a love child. Those are awesome as well. Something which I feel, you will appreciate more. 👍🏼
@@Mr-Safology definitely prefer that offer the regular Santos. Thanks for the heads up. The tank still has my heart though. Actually the Oris rectangular has my heart, but I don't see that one being homaged any time soon.
After watching this review, I pulled the trigger on Sanda through the affiliated link. I've always thought about getting a Tank-ish watch, and this will be a decent gateway watch for me. Thanks for a great comparison and review!
I bought the sanda with steel strap and steel strap quality is unexpectedly great, doesn't seem like folded steel because there are no seams , they are probably hollow inside but you can't tell at all from the outside, I'm using it with a leather strap though because butterfly clasp isn't my thing. Overall very happy with it. For the money you can't go wrong or get better than this
Thanks for the review. I found this video in the review section of Aliexpress and it gave me the information I needed to decide whether I should buy the Sanda watch (I did!). I think it will be perfect with t-shirt and jeans.
These are great, I might pick up one of those smaller ones but Vario keeps hinting about a rectangular dress watch coming out later this year and I’m pretty excited about that! It’s not gonna be the deal that this is though. 😆
I'm super glad that I've stumbled upon your reviews. I ordered a sanda and just received it just now and it is absolutely gorgeous, the no date makes it even better than the pablo raez. I would pay more for a stainless steel case though, nevertheless this is a good find. This is a poor man's tank must. I think this would have more wrist time than my seikos cus i know its going to be far more accurate than my seiko 5s 😂 im going to buy one more next month and just store it. you are very welcome Jan. this seems to be a very popular model...one of my best sellers and now you can see why. it's just a stellar little watch for sub $20. but I'd happily pay in the $70 range for stainless and sapphire.
I've bought recently a Sanda and a big Pablo Raez, the Sanda is still slightly better overall, but only slightly. My Pablo Raez is different than yours, it is now as a "Quartz Made" inscription over the cringe "Swiss Made" and they improved the dial with a new champagne silverish, but the Roman numbers are still not that raised and bold like the Sanda one. The Pablo Raez as also a new crown, literally similar to the Sanda one, but I find it a little smaller for the case dimensions but it's ok, nothing that ruins it. One thing I've noticed and wanted to alert is that the Sanda is an homage for a Cartier tank Must, while the Pablo Raez goes to the Cartier tank Solo, its more flat than the Sanda that has rounder surface corners. Everything is perfect with both watches, gladly no crooked dials and love both, although I prefer the Pablo Raez for my 7.28 inches wrist! Love your videos and I hope everything is well with you! Cheers! Update: I've bought a Rose Gold and received a "Swiss Made" one 😑, I've argued with the seller in Aliexpress and they agreed to give me a coupon on my next buy. I've opened the watch and they supposedly "corrected" the crooked face dial with a piece of cardboard in a corner to force it to be in a steady position... A really sloppy fix, just to sell the bad batch...
These are okay, but I'd honestly be interested in something a little better specced, even if it means more money. Unfortunately I never found a good tank homage at the "Cadisen price point". Nice video tho! The large looks very clumsy lol

I have the Rotary "tank" style watch Quartz {5micron Gold Plated) for about 25year (still perfect) - case, glass. I love it. I also own a new style Cartier Tank with Metal bracelet. When you put the Cartier on - it feels special, you feel special, you own history, you own quality, you own respect : there is nothing like that feeling. The Rotary was about £80 (25y ago), the Cartier was c. £2200 a few years ago, was it worth an extra £2100 - yes, yes, yes. If you can afford it, buy one...

Superb video review! I'm thinking of getting the small Sanda, however, Casio makes the LTPV 007 which is also a nice tank watch with a sweeping second hand. I can't decide whether I want no second hand or a second hand. Sanda also makes another version of the tank with a small second hand at the bottom but then it does away with the Roman numeral 6.
Got the Sanda, if your not a watch "enthusiaste" it's actually, I find a great watch. Perefct size for my smaller wrist, comfortable, lightwieght, like the clasp on the strap, I have been swimming with it no problem, I got that for a measly 14 euro! Buy one.
I have recently purchased both the Sanda and the larger Pablo Raez. I am a taller guy (6'-6") with large (XXL) hands. I felt that the Sanda was a bit too small for my tastes and would constantly flip around under my wrist. The Pablo Raez is a larger watch and stays in place for me. For some reason, the Pablo Raez strap seems to be short, considering the larger size of the watch. It's long enough to buckle on me, but im on the last two holes. I didnt notice the dial being misaligned at all. Maybe i got lucky or I'm just not that observant. The date complication is so small that i can't glance and read it. I have a wedding this weekend, so I'll probably try out the Pablo Raez and see what i think. I will disagree on a couple of points made in the video: * What good would a nicer movement do? Its a small, no second hand dial. It's good enough for what it is. * While a stainless steel case would be nice, these likely arent a watch that youll wear a lot. As long as the plating holds up, an alloy case will be fine. * I will agree that a nicer band would help either one. But, again, whats included is "good enough" for a sub-$20 tank.
Speaking of affordable tank-style watches: the Seiko SUP-series has some nice Tank homages in it. Got mine for ~100€ three years ago and I still love it.
Let me ask you again. On sanda watch... Do I need to use a 20mm band? Or should I use an 18mm band... I want to use a metal strap, but the basic specification says 19mm... I'd like to check again. I want to buy a sanda Can you tell me the exact size? I'm curious about that because you only measured the thickness. You said the leather strap provided is 20mm, is it sure? Correct. Sanda and small Pablo reaez share the same dimensions besides thickness. So strap width is 20mm and all straps show outdoors were 20mm straps.
Lol, you sure these weren't pulled out of the bottom of a Cracker Jacks box? 😂 Anyway, Im afraid of that weird Sanda strap buckling mechanism. And I think that Pablo Raez looks about as good as the Sanda, and for the cheap price I ordered a small one. Throw away if it doesn't work out. I just want the look of a classic Cartier Tank at about the same size. If the watch actually works, all the better. Hope it makes it via the slow boat from China.
I got the Sanda Tank recently. I threw away bracelet because it felt really cheap and put an after market on it. Great watch overall. I wonder what quartz movement they use. Seiko? Miyota? Or a Chinese quartz?
Hey man, nice review! Been looking for a good tank homage for quite a while. How do you perceive the thickness of the Sanda? In the video it sometimes looks a bit chunky relative to its size, but Im guessing it isnt a problem in person?
Bought it for 13 euro a few days so still in transit. From Ali. But lately I've noticed they have a similar one without branding and with safire cristal for like 50 + euros.
Careful of those unbranded ones. They are usually replicas with carrier branding in the dial. They just aren't allowed to show that in the AliExpress images.
The Sanda strap doesn't really fit a 7" wrist. I bought one using your link. I hope you get a little kick back for it. They copied the Cartier strap except that unlike the Cartier, the Sanda only folds under on one side of the strap and not both. For a 7" wrist, this puts the metal hinge in a place that pokes out on the outside of your wrist causing the watch strap to jut out on the top side and the watch doesn't lay flat on the wrist. It looks like there's another Cartier strap homage on AliExpress that folds on both ends allowing you to center the clasp underneath your wrist.

This is very interesting. Seiko has had a solar powered Cartier homage model in gold for quite some time, but since gold isn't my favourite metal (except for old vintage watches), I was hoping they'd made a steel one. And back in around November/December last year I actually found a stainless steel Seiko model (which also was a slight bigger, which I presumed would fit better, but also way thinner "flanks" in the sides as the original). Not solar either just a a straight quartz, but I didn't effing care but just ordered it lol. That size was 28.5 x 38.5mm, which I'd thought would fit my tiny 6.5 inch wrist perfectly. But funny thing is that it's just passable on my 6.5 wrist. Rectangulary watches - as you mentioned- definitely wears way bigger than round ones, even though they might look small in theory. This is also pretty obvious watching your video with your wrist being quite bigger than mine. And finally, I guess between these Sanda would be the itch to scratch, if you're lusting for a Cartier Tank and want to try it out. And oh, I'll defintetly check out your Courgeut Speedy reveiw, I think I've might've missed out on that one.

does the crown tarnish in any of these watches? it's common for cheap watches and i'm wondering if it has the same problem. would appreciate if you respond.
I guess time will tell, but so far, so good on mine 👍. Probably helps that it's not something I wear often and it's quartz so I'm not messing with the crown but 2x a year.

They all seem to be the same...I'd say the S&S is the nicest one so far. I had a geervo unbranded NH35 one. Decent watch for the money ($55) but just too thick to pull off that Santos look. It was 12mm thick like all the rest. They need to shave a couple mm's off before I'd be interested in picking one up again. I did make a little reddit review of it v.redd.it/7xaaiqnql1nb1

I bought this and I'm definitely happy with the looks! But are quartz watches normally this loud? Because I absolutely hate the ticking sound and I find it very distracting. Even just wearing it on my wrist I can hear it while typing this out.
Interesting. I didn't find either of these too loud. Some movements are louder than others. I had a Timex weekender and it was very loud, these I hardly noticed

@@ayazgul8362 compare it to my wrist size and make your decision. I always think the "tank" can almost never be too small. It's such a classic watch and way back when even the men wore them smaller than yhis. Muhammad Ali was pictured wearing a gold one in a size even smaller than this.

Sorry, I'm not aware of one that isn't a branded replica. Swapping a dial wouldn't be the easiest thing either. At a bare minimum it has to the the exact size of the Sanda...then it may need the opinion opening enlarged and dial feet removed and the use of adhesive to stick the dial to the movement. Look into the vario dual face watch...not cheap but I know they have those colorful dials
A crown with that kind of gem is known as a cabochon (polished but not faceted). Caboche mean's head in French. Which goes nicely with Crown (which you wear on your head). Useless facts learnt today. Enrichment 100%.

@@jamesloft6863 you're welcome. I've been looking for a good one as well, but I think mechanical will be tough. Finding a movement small enough (diameter wise) to keep it wearable is going to be a chore. Not to mention thickness. Best bet is the ST17 without the rotor. But I'm unsure of it's diameter.
I just found 1 clone with cartier brand printed. Got 2 size for men and woman but for men it dont have the date. But im just afraid it just pablo raez quality
@@EscapeWheelThe clone with cartier brand cost around 25usd. I can get the Sanda below 11 usd. Pablo Raez is cheaper than Sanda. but the review said the cartier clone is heavy, so maybe it is stainless steel. maybe i'll need to get all three
