@@Cancun771 With the democrat parts pricing policy these days, an overhaul on a PT6-A or a TPE331-10 is off the chart. It will change in 2025 but until then it's the price of turbine ownership.

It puts a P51 in the ditch. Its climb rate is over 5,000 feet per minute, it "cruises" at 350 knots (402 mph), and burns around 35 gallons per hour at altitude (P51 is 60). Bigger issues ... in operation it is extremely smooth, it's very quite (for pilot), and the throttle is very responsive without the monster P-Factor (torque roll) of the P51, and the Legend has "Beta" (zero prop thrust) for taxi and landing roll-out. All this said, it's not really a fair comparison since the Legend is new technology and altogether different engine platform. There's not a Legend pilot alive that wouldn't trade for a P51. Problem is ... Garrett Legend = $500,000 / P51 = $2M to $3M.

@@derekheuring2984 OK smart ass ... here you go. In 1959, my Uncle worked at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. On our visit, and this is when we lived in AMERICA (not millennialville) he took us on a personal tour of the facility, which included numerous buildings. The primary focus was where he worked as an engineer on the valves that controlled fuel flow to the 5 engines on the Atlas Booster (each over 6' in diameter at the outlet). And, again smart ass ... the air inside that room (the Clean Room) is precisely the same air that was entombed via seal in 1958. The breathing gases inside the room are measured and replaced as needed for its specification. While there, we were introduced to Werner Von Braun. At ages 10, 9, and 7, we were polite but had no idea who he was. An enigma ... my Uncle was in wave 2 at Omaha Beach, and now (then) was reporting to the man who developed the V1 and V2 rockets. Also during the tour, Uncle Frank asked if we wanted to sit in the Mercury Space Capsule. Due to my size, I couldn't fit, my sister was claustrophobic, but my brother was allowed to climb in. Another unknown and non-knowledge to the public (to happen later) ... why was there so much hoopla over the sinking and blaming of Gus Grissom's capsule ? The answer is a question. What is the greatest conductor of electricity ? The answer is GOLD. Gus's capsule contained miles of gold wire (not gold plated). I can go on about my knowledge of rocketry but I think I've made my point smart ass. Suffice to say that the comparison between the V2 and the Saturn V is simply size, weight, and thrust. They were developed by the same person. They were constructed by the same vendor, and their purposed is identical. So ... smart ass, time for you to go back to what you do best, which is picking the peanuts out of Boomer's shit.

I'm not sure about a PT6 powered legend, that's a good question! All the other videos I've seen of these have been either this Garrett powered one or Walter powered ones.

James, we build these and with the Garrett engine the aircraft is capable of 400 knots true airspeed. This particular Legend routinely cruises between 360-380 ktas.

I saw on multiple sources that vne was over 400, and trusting the people who build them, I guess it definitely is 400

The website from the manufacturer states 340. im not doubtful that the engine itself could go further. however if vne is 340 anyone going faster risks the plane splitting apart. just like when people put v8 into cesnas, the vne remains the same. @@sebsaviationyyc

There’s a difference between Indicated airspeed (which Vne is based on) and True airspeed, which increases with altitude. So the aircraft could be “indicating” 250 kts at, for eg, 25000’ but it’s true airspeed (TAS) would be around 380kts. Hope that makes sense, and helps.

@@sebsaviationyycthat Garrett edition is an Innovative Wings mod, nobody else’s. That took a lot of work and effort and engineering. Some other people try to copy and put their claim on it, but it’s purely Innovative Wings from CYBW.

At one point his other plane was a CF-104. He has earned those markings and then some.
