Also wanted to say that this is such a fun way to paint the WHOLE room red with blood instead of just the floor. That was a problem I didn’t even imagine when it came to the whole ‘redecorating’ aspect of Violence. Again, wonderfully executed

0:06 This is actually more terrifying than something wicked From the looks of it, this enemy feels like a filth and and a stray combined into one with significant upgrades. Since the player is far more experienced with the game by the time they enter Act 3, the regular filths are practically just blood dispensers at this point, and I feel like that's why the mannequin is going to replace the filth in the lower layers as the game's "melee harasser".

Filth were relatively annoying and hard to hit but not dangerous at all until the knuckleblaster where they just are free blood. (Well you could make the same case for the shotgun I guess.)

Filth are still annoying, since they force you to keep moving or waste precious time and cheap resources fending them off. I don’t think any enemy will ever be “replaced”, like how weapons are always useful, but these enemies will probably be a grounded version of the Mindflayer’s ‘mobile, constant threat’ with higher speed both in movement and attacks but less resistance and less flexible movement due to the lack of floating

Nowhere near as fast as those guys, but... They _are_ worryingly fast... Keep in mind that all footage from Hakita is recorded in *Standard* difficulty. Can't wait to see them in action in violent difficulty!

With the ability to stick to ceilings, I'm hopeful for the level design in violence, it seems that the environments are going to get much, much more varied, which is an absolute win in my book, looking forwards to rending apart these guys.

I've always had a hard time with fast paced games like Ultrakill, I just can't think quick enough. Even though I get stomped, the game is extremely fun to me. I'm sure these guys will give me a heart attack.

Here's a tip: enough explosives, shotgun blasts, nail heatsinks and charged revolver shots will be enough to flatten out most enemies, and if you're having trouble with these fast enemies, throw a coin while looking in a direction and wait until it falls in front of your reticle to shoot. It makes coin shooting much easier

​@@dantepaz5028it was mainly the people that beat gabriel 1000 times before the update or people who just played a lot of act I, I think gabriel 2 is harder because of how fast it is, gabe 1 only has that attack from above and the explosive spear that are hard to dodge, really, both which can be pretty damn easy after some practice (just dash in right moment) Tl;dr: "umm gabe 2 is easier than gabe 1" - mainly people who bullied gabe 1 before release

I think the coolest part about this on rewatch is that at 0:22 you can see one of the mannequins literally tech recover from being blasted with a rocket by sticking to the ceiling and firing a projectile. Enemies that respond to the player’s actions are my favorite :3

I like how the arena goes slightly darker and more sinister with the doors now having skulls on them when combat is happening. Helps to make the game easier on your eyes while also making the room overall look cooler.

When watching at slower speeds I noticed something. These enemies don't give off any dynamic light unless they are on the ceiling. Smart move to subtly help the player realize there is an enemy on the ceiling, as game developers often lament how difficult it is to get players to look upwards.

Firstly, he said "pay no mind to decorations", then "they don't attack wdym", in the twitter post for this video he wrote "they are just normal decorations, they don't move extremely fast and don't jump on ceilings and walls". It's most likely some hints towards lore of Mannequins

The non-boss enemies introduced in act 2 are all very complex and add great depth to the gameplay, but they're all support enemies. Ever since the Soldier was introduced, it's been exclusively mini-bosses and support enemies, so it's really refreshing to see a relatively straight-forward enemy. Not saying they don't add complexity, however, they seem to be extremely good for surprise attacks, way better than, say, groups of Filth, which are pretty easy to avoid.

This is actually horrifying. I've never been scared of stuff like this, but for whatever reason, this in particular actually gives me chills. Something about the sound design and way they move like spiders. This is the last thing I was expecting Mannequins to act like, but I dig it. Great job!

This environment gives off a museum feel to it, and not just because of the release of the Dev Museum prior to Act 3. The way the mannequins are set in various positions on top of podiums, the way their limbs appear to be smashed together, how the arena is completely white snd the theme of this level is painting the world red.. I suspect that Hell itself created the environment, as it not only sees violence as a source of entertainment, but treats it as a form of art, and seeing how the arena doors arent using the red X textures, its safe to say that Hell doesn't need to hack any human/angel tech to enclose the players in an arena, since its literally *the* arena

@@Knightgaming396 well, the tracks we've been showcased are called "the world is white" and "the world is red", a lot of people speculated after the first look at 7-1 dropped that the level was intentionally fully discolored so that the blood of your enemies would splatter on the walls. (In addition, just the term "painting the town red" usually means killing everyone, which is pretty much what the violence layer, and ultrakill to an extent, is about)

We are def getting a "Greater Angel" enemy, I'm betting on it. We had: Hideous Masses for Greater Demons. Sentrys and Mindflayers for Greater Machines. And Insurrectionists and Ferrymen for Supreme Husks (I know, its not greater husks, but i feel like that supreme husks are in-line with greater demons and others. Considering the Greater husks were Fodder.)

Okay, observations: -Starting off with what is very easily the least interesting part of the entire video, we can see the clearer health number mentioned in the July 22nd Screenshot Saturday post, so it's neat to see that in action??? -We can clearly hear The World Looks Red (TWLR) playing it's non-battle loop at the start of the video, signifying that this isn't the first skirmish of the level, which makes a lot of sense. While it COULD work, trying to introduce a new enemy type by throwing six of them at you at once seems like a poor way of going about it. -While brief and pretty nondescript, when V1 turns around to walk up the second set of stairs, we can see the area that they've just come out of. Now, it could very well JUST be an average white corridor unrelated to anything we've seen before, but it could also POSSIBLY be the hallway seen in the July 15th Screenshot Saturday post. -Something VERY interesting that I've noticed is that the skull podium in this video is red, while in the prior video it was blue. Now, this could mean a LOT of things, but I'll try to abstain from talking about all of them since that's how you quickly get to completely insane conspiracy theories and with how little information we have to go off of, there's no good way to actually surmise what the deal is. It's also peculiar that there's very clearly a blood splatter on the door since that seems MUCH more random and not like the game was designed to have that there on purpose, but we still don't know enough. -Once the battle begins, new types of doors block the exits. While not anything crazy, it's still cool to see. -After the mannequins launch into their attacks and the fighting begins, the room noticeably dims and only the light from the windows remain bright. This is not only a really clever way to have the mannequins stand out against the similarly colored background, but it also helps with the eye strain that the environment causes some people (I've seriously seen some people suggesting a "dark mode" for Violence, which I do suppose they kind of got). -The mannequins look to be the new mindflayer-level annoying enemy (I don't mean that in a bad way), being able to shoot blue projectiles, climb and crawl VERY fast, and they roll and lunge at you if you get close like a ferryman. They also seem to be pretty damn tanky for a common enemy, with one of the mannequins tanking a charged slab piercer shot and surviving. The video is just a little too hard to follow for me to be willing to sit down and try to learn the health numbers of the mannequins, but who knows? Maybe I'll get bored and do it at some point. -Last thing that I'm just guessing on, but it seems like mannequins may spew more blood than other enemies. Like, it could very well just be me mentally making a bigger deal out of THIS blood since it's the Violence layer, but I feel like this is way more blood than other enemies would produce. Could just be them being tanky leads to them getting hit more and causing more blood splatters. Alright, after looking back at the video to try and figure out the mannequin's health total, I realized that it wasn't quite as difficult as I thought it would be. The first shotgun shot fired seems to be mostly if not totally consumed by a mannequin and is UNRELATED to the mannequin that I kept track of, meaning we don't have to account for that damage. Shortly after this, we can see Hakita shoot a single mannequin with a fully charged slab piercer shot, dealing 5 damage. Shortly after this, he fires a rocket into the group of mannequins containing the damaged mannequin and we can see that one of the mannequins died. Using obvious reasoning, we can assume that this was the mannequin that got hit by the piecer shot, and the rocket could've dealt either 3.5 damage or 2.3 damage. With how close together the mannequins are however, I'd personally assume that the mannequin took the full brunt of the damage and it dealt 3.5, leading to a total health of 8.5. Now, this doesn't account for certain things that we just can't know yet like potential weaknesses or resistances, but there's little that we can do about that until we find out ourselves in-game. For reference, schisms have 5 health, streetcleaners have 4.5, soldiers have 2.5, and sentries have 12. So, while they aren't the most bulky semi-common enemy in the game, they're still quite tough and with the seeming amount of them that they're willing to throw at you at one time, I could very easily see mannequins becoming a new menace in the game.

Okay I went frame by frame until the first death So from what I can see it took 1 point blank shotgun from blue A charged slab shot And finnaly a rocket Using the wiki I'm tryna guess the dmg Slab 5-7 dmg Shotgun(point blank) 3 dmg Rocket 3.5 dmg Rough estimate=11.5 or 13.5 dmg This means the mannequins can health is perhaps around 9-12 maybe 13(I doubt that) again these are guesses And do keep in mind this isn't perfect because at one of the frames it's impossible to track the one I was tracking so I just went with whichever one died first took the shotgun blast If anyone has time or knows alot of a ultrakill I would appreciate if anyone can confirm my guesses

some things to note: - As some people (including me) thought, The World Looks Red is not a battle version of The World Looks White, but rather a music on it's own (which is actually really cool btw, having 2 musics on a single level like that) - It's probably my imagination but it kinda looks like we do some sort of backtracking here? especially considering that the skull was already placed - Some people already commented about the fact that there's a new blocking wall, not the usual red skull one, and I think this new one looks actually pretty great! - About the mannequins, to me they seem like the perfect combination of husk type enemies (weaker with large quantities) with demon type enemies (stronger with small quantity), as their attacks seem more aggressive and stronger (like demons) but their HP looks at least smaller than from the Cerberi - On that note, they kind of remind me of schisms. maybe it's the way that they shoot and walk (when not fucking teleporting or walking like fucking spiders) that makes me feel that? FIRST EDIT - Maybe I'm a bit crazy but this blocking texture looks really high definition, in the sense that you can distinguish what's on it good. It seems like the textures have been having higher definitions since the Dev Museum. I do not find that bad actually, it's a really cool thing tbh - Specifying more my opinion about mannequins, I don't think they have low HP, just not as big as, for example, a Cerberus, Mindflayer and/or a Ferryman. That is reforced by the fact that there's more than 2 of them to me - On that note, I think a great strategy against them is to use explosives - will edit if I have something new

When Violence released I played this with a smug face thinking I wouldn't get scared by them suddenly moving since I'd seen this. Imagin my shock when I realized they went into this room BACKWARDS to give you the illusion of safety heading through the first time. Needless to say I fell out of my chair I jumped so high

I recorded my session of Violence and when I got to the mannequin room, I just strolled on in thinking that I was safe since I had seen the teaser. In the skull room with the concerning amount of mannequins I had used a Nuke earlier, thinking I could just clear them out. I was wrong, and casually strolled into the next room. When they moved towards me when I was about to close the gap on the pedestal, I screamed. The sudden panic was translated into the gameplay with my view suddenly and violently shaking for a second or two. Surprisingly I had managed to keep my composure just enough to only use 2 stamina bars in a 1 second burst to escape the ambush. At the end of the ambush, I paused the game and decided to take a breather or two in order to recover and regain my focus.

I love how this changes gameplay up, instead of waiting for things to spawn, they are already there and you have to make sure your positioning is good enough to not die when they activate, that would be really cool to see used in like a tight corridor, you need to make sure you hug the correct wall and like quickly swap walls to avoid getting melee damage from them

0:27 it appears that mannequins that cling to ceilings count as "airborne", thus causing a bigger explosion when hit with the rocket launcher. The rocket launcher might actually turn out to be a very effective weapon against these things... if they don't dodge the rocket.

Something to note is that at 0:27 the rocket does the red explosion, so them clinging to the roof is considered airborne... Or maybe its a glitch?
