i didn't really think about it at first, but it's cool that we finally get to see V1 in its element here. like, V1 is a weapon designed for this exact environment of war. if it has the capacity to feel, it must feel at home
I find it actually extremely ominous, like, V1 is a prototype, probably meant to replace the common, Frontline war robot. And this part of hell might be the continuation of the exact same war V1 was supposed to fight, imagine a war so brutal that V1 (heck, even V2) would, at one point, become the bare minimum to fight in it.
@@davisdf3064 V1 was made at the very end of a war, and so by the time it was completed, the war was over and now they needed robots more suited for peace times, which is when V2 was made. I assume the next war after that is what wiped out humanity.
@@pablopereyra7126 Well, he was still made for it. Designed and programmed for this exact environment, he was made as the next generation for Frontline fighting. The simple fact that a machine as extreme and powerful as V1 was meant to basically be the common soldier is terrifying.

I actually like how unlike the Leviathan, the lights on these behemoths stays in the distance, always just looming out there as if watching the battlefield for whatever dares to come their way.
@@INeedTherapy03 bosses at once- trio of literal mobile fortresses. I know we killed king minos’s corpse, but how 3 bosses in one level? Might be more levels but still, how would Hakita make it work?
With acts 1 and 2 ultrakill was already easily my favorite game, and act 3 just seems to be taking all the best aspects of the first 2 acts and cranking it up to 11. Im obcessed with how creatively the game depicts each layer and how it allways seems to change things up in new ways that I genuinely dont expect
The train teaser is almost certainly a prelude to this level introduction. The checkpoint at the start is what really convinces me of that. Keeping up with the teasers is so much fun.
Yeah, there’s some missing health and the “entrance” is completely different from the usual one. And it wouldn’t be the first time either that the title drop happens not right at the beginning of a level.
Ultrakill rarely makes you do more than one or two encounters before a title drop though. Given the music match up, I think it's more likely that the hook point platforming section will be in this level, and the train segment will cap off the garden of forking paths somehow. Otherwise, we'd either be spending very little time in the war setting due to how short Ultrakill levels tend to be, or 7-2 would be substantially longer and more varied than 7-1. My guess is, the hook point section is just a short prelude to this, kinda like 2-1 and 5-1.
@@FrahdChikun Right, but 1-2 has you do a few short encounters and 2-1 is just a short climb with some enemies, neither of which have any new mechanics specific to them. A train ride AND a platforming segment before this seems a little cramped. If it were at the start of 7-2 it'd have to be short enough to give the rest of the level some breathing room, and I doubt Hakita would design a train sequence without getting the most out of it. That's why I'm guessing it'll be near the end of 7-1 instead of the opener to 7-2, since Garden of Forking Paths has only been confirmed to have one specific env theme, whereas this and the whip teaser makes two for Light Up the Night. I could see 7-1 surprising us by having a lengthier second half in the form of a train ride. Who's to say for sure, though? Violence has already broken some unspoken rules. Hell, the train segment might be at the end of 7-2 and Hakita's just throwing us for a loop. We've had a few out of order previews before.
It’s more of an ocean more than anything else. I’m not going to be the person that thinks, “There is no way that this is accurate to the divine comedy” because it makes sense doesn’t it? All of humanity is gone and some of them were responsible and partook in the Final War. This is a similar situation to the River Styx in the Wrath layer. Edit: Welp, my statement aged poorly. It’s a river. Still, it would’ve been cool as hell if it was an ocean.
@@shrummajor114you're not entirely wrong, the entire land of violence (atleast not the desert) is actually an ocean of bodies like in wrath, except they got packed so hard that they form an actual ground
Given that a huge amount of humans would have died in combat before they went extinct, it makes sense that Violence is a high-tech warscape. It's also notable that V1 was expressly built for war, and built during a time of cataclysmic war, so it's quite literally going to be in its element when it arrives in this layer.
God everything about this is absolutely glorious, the music, the silhouettes, it all builds to a world where there is only war. Each power putting in all their resources into causing as much suffering and pain as possible. I can imagine they believe that they have a motivation, but now, underneath the infinite void of the blackened sky, there is nothing but senseless violence. The music screams, “this is what the world has become”, dark and melancholy, while still fast-paced, as if implying the player is trying to escape the (literal) bloodbath that is this world. This whole scene perfectly encapsulates the feeling of a warzone, with a healthy dose of apocalypse on top, and it’s honestly perfect. Cannot wait for act 3. (Hope you enjoyed my hyperfixation ramble)
Never in my entire life have i been excited so much by an 18 second teaser. The dark, melancholic atmosphere and the distant thunder, with colossal beings of unfathomable size in the distance. The gunfire and the halo-esque drop pods. This layer combines wrath, lust and so much more. I have a feeling this will be the best layer yet.
I wonder if this is a sort of mirror of the War of the Machine that killed Mankind. Like the humans that despratly fought at the end are now forced to endlessly relive the fight that killed them.
Loving the apocalyptic feel of this, it’s an interesting change of direction from 7-1. The visuals of gunfire lighting up the night sky, silhouettes of colossal war machines in the distance, slanted structures atop an ocean of blood, theres a feeling of disorganized chaos here that fits extremely well for this layer.
In the divine comedy, it’s supposed to be a river of blood. But given all of mankind is gone, it makes sense for it to be an ocean instead. Much like how the River Styx became an ocean.
my reaction was "OOOOOOOH MY GOD, IS WAR OF THE WORLD'S" thank's to the war machine's, tho they look more like the one's from the wotw parody war of the server's.
I really like the aesthetic of this layer. The almost heaven-esque architecture mixed with this war torned style looks so cool! Not to mention, the soundtrack already sounds top notched. I’m so excited for this layer and the rest! Godspeed to you, Hakita.
Does anyone else think the centaurs being completely robotic has something to do with their refusal to carry out punishments? Like the original centaurs decided it was too cruel so heaven/Gabe killed and rebuilt them to serve their purpose (similar to how Minos’ corpse carries out the punishments)
So while this didn't have me absolutely freaking out over spider men statues rushing at me the absolute cacophony of things thrown at you compared to ANY other layer we've seen so far completely has me stunned. From the symbolism of the chess-related structures, to the various war-related props all over, this layer's gonna leave a mark, just like WAR.
holy WOW this looks sick as hell, less than 20 seconds and i'm already completely enamored by the vibes!!! the distant thunder, the GIANT WAR ROBOTS, the grim apocalyptic atmosphere, absolutely incredible!!!
God im excited for this music track, it sounds like it could actually top deep blue as my favourite level track and thats STUPIDLY hard to do because deep blue is fucking amazing
The whole location, the gunshots, the bombs dropping probably new enemies, those weird AT-ATs in the background. Perfect! It's perfect, down to the most minute details!
WOW! Okay, there is a LOT to unpack here: -Firstly, before we can even get into the actual video itself, we have to talk about the description written for this level in the Twitter post made by Hakita. The quote for those of you that haven't read it goes, "Beyond the quiet walls of the Garden of Forking Paths lies the first circle of Violence in 7-2: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT. In the grim darkness of Hell, there is only war". Now, this tells us so much with so little. Firstly, we now know that 7-1 isn't even properly a part of Violence, seemingly just being an entrance or halfway area of some kind. We also know that 7-2 IS a part of Violence, and that it's namely the first circle. Whether this implies we'll hit every circle or only the ones that match the aesthetic Hakita's going for, we'll only know with time, but it is clear that this is an individual CIRCLE, telling us that Violence might be a pretty varied layer as far as theming goes. We know thanks to the latter half of his description and by just looking at it, 7-2's going to have a heavy emphasis placed on warfare and the logical brutality that comes with it. -Interestingly, the opening tunnel and seemingly Violence as a whole has more color to it than what was let on by 7-1. While it is still mostly red and white, the darker grays and blacks from the prior mannequin fight and railway sequence respectively have become MUCH more prominent, and yellowish-oranges seem to also decorate the environment. Something cool to take note of is that while the source of the orange light can't be traced in the tunnel, we can see that the light on the structure comes from a pair of mannequins, which together seem to hold an orb that lights up the surrounding, which is pretty cool. -We can see that in the beginning, V1's already taken damage and is at 55 health. While Hakita could've very easily just hurt himself and there bee nothing of actual danger before this, I just don't really see Hakita doing that, at least for something as miniscule as this. So, my guess is that there's at least some enemies before this point in the level, which isn't a particularly bold guess, but it's a guess none the less. -The doors that lead into the title shot are a brand new kind of door, that is notably pretty damn green. Not much to really elaborate on here, but it's cool to see more doors. -The wide shot of 7-2 is incredibly dense, with detail brimming from every corner, so I'll just try to hit the biggest or most intriguing things I see. While difficult to notice due to how little it's on-screen, there's a gigantic cerberus statue to V1's left, and it's still completely white much like the statues in the railway sequence shared by Hakita. For the more obvious stuff, WAR. Spotlights are speckled across the horizon, bullet sprays litter the sky, lightning illuminates the sullen space above, there's a lot of pretty grim imagery making it obvious how unglamorous war really is. If we look lower in the frame, we'll see that all of these towering buildings are built above an enormous pool of blood. -Due to how it's lit, it's pretty easy to assume that the far-off door is where V1 will have to make it to in order to continue the level, not very surprising. -When the lighting strikes, absolutely colossal machines loom in the background. Of every machine we've seen, these guys are unequivocally the largest, dwarfing all competition. Interestingly, the shape of their bodies invokes the imagery of centaurs, which were the guards of the Violence layer, enforcing the punishment set for the sinners present. While I can't quite tell if the item they're wielding is a sword or firearm, I have a guess for a reason I'll get to in a moment. -The presence of these large machines could very likely imply what the final boss of Violence will be, being a smaller version of one of these hulking behemoths. (to further clarify now from the future why I thought we'd fight a smaller version of the Earthmover, there were a couple of reasons. One, I figured that Act 3 would closely follow the same pattern as the first two acts where we would fight a mechanical rival similar to us, and then a large spectacle boss, thus making me think that we'd fight a more reasonably-sized Earthmover to be more in-line with V2. This also isn't unprecedented in the game since Insurrectionists are shown as gargantuan in 4-1, but we then fight a much more reasonably-sized one in 4-2. Obviously, that didn't happen, with 7-4 being both a fight against a mechanical rival AND being a spectacle fight. The second reason (and the lesser one) was that I was convinced we were going to receive the gold arm from the Earthmovers, namely their lightning rod. Thus, I figured that the only logical way to obtain such a large weapon was to get it from a smaller version of the same enemy where it's more suited for V1's size. Once again, this didn't happen, with no gold arm in sight in Violence. To make it clear, I never once doubted that the ULTRAKILL devs couldn't make a fight of this caliber possible, I just thought that a smaller version of it would help fulfill other factors unrelated to the fight itself) The reason for guessing this is simple, it follows the pattern set by the previous two acts. In the first layer of acts 1 and 2, the final boss of the layer has been a machine, whose defeat leads to V1 gaining a new arm. Granted, both times it was V2, but the point still stands. In order to continue this trend, there'd clearly have to be a new boss-level machine to fill the role seeing as how V2 is now a puddle of mush back in Greed. These new centaur-bots could very easily fill this role AND they could provide the arm in the form of the item they wield. In Dante's Inferno, the weapon the centaurs used to fulfill their purpose were bows, which they used to stave off sinners attempting to escape. In ULTRAKILL, this weapon could be a crossbow. Looking at it, the item look relatively crossbow-like, would be a cool twist on the original, and would fill a niche that hasn't been explored with the arms yet (that being ranged projectiles). All this to say, I'm placing my bets on one these centaurs being the final boss of Violence. -On a much shorter note, we can hear a new song in the background. Or, is it? While it could just be a similar sounding piece, this song sounds remarkably similar to the song heard in the yellow hookpoints video, with the similar harpsichord-esque instrument and the chanting choir. Could be different, but it sounds pretty similar to me. -A small detail that can be spotted comes when V1's hopping from platform to platform, where we can see that chains hold the structures together and to the ground. Nothing big, but a pretty neat detail. -Lastly, we have the bomb that ends the video. While you have to slow down the video to see it, this bomb possess a small green light on it, continuing the pattern of green lights accompanying objects in this level, like the door at the beginning. After it's crashed, we can see two separate containers emerge from the capsule. The first one flies out and behind V1, being similar in appearance to the bomb, although the green light (now clearly a window of some sort), has a dark shadow inside of it. This obviously suggests that it contains an enemy inside of it, although we can't know yet if it's a new enemy or just a fancy entrance for some random old enemies. The other container pops out much closer to the bomb, and though it can be hard to tell, does still move forward. This one is much darker than the other with notches all over it, making it almost look as though it's covered in bars (even though it definitely isn't). Final thing is that if you pay close attention to the left of the capsule, you can see some kind of gun extend from the bomb, suggesting that it might start firing at you??? No clue on that part. HAHAHA! Yeah, after some discussion in the replies of this comment, it's definitely a new enemy type, and it's almost certainly a new machine (though I doubt that was even being questioned). After being mentioned, I agree that the weird second pod does look a good bit like a shild, and that shield and the gun seem to travel alongside each other as though they're being carried by a single being. On top of that and in what my opinion is the most damning piece of evidence, on the very last frame of the video you can see what seem to be a should and waist clipping through the rubble of the pod. So it's almost definitely a new enemy, though I still can't fully explain what the deal is with the first container that goes flying since that still seems pretty weird to me. Yeah, for only being 18 seconds, this had a lot to breakdown.
@@realoofrian I've been making this type of comment on every Hakita video since the TWLW/TWLR music preview, and you'd have no idea how many times I've gotten the response, "I ain't reading allat".

They look like titan swordsmachines. Look at the glowing dots on the head, the shoulder pads, and the head shape itself. That’s probably how we get the yellow arm. (Just realized their eyes glow through the shadows they are without a doubt mechanical)
it feels right first we fought i colossal husk then a colossal demon and now we will fight a colossal machine maybe we will fight a colossal angel? maybe a seraph, or even god himself
I think that in this layer we are gonna fight with a supreme machine made for war at 7-4. This because in this vid you can see the whole layer being filled by machines and war, I think it is like the lust layer. Enter a bigass layer, advance through it, get to a specific location, have a bossfight but, this time you get a cool arm.
