Last of the three remaining weapon variations coming in the next update. Hold to saw/charge, release to launch, feedbacker to re-launch, knuckleblaster to detach.
The red variants are on crack, you got: - Big punch - Bouncy bullets - Chainsaw yo-yo - Litterally just a taser - Oppenheimer - About to be invaded by the US
Now I'm 100% confident that all of ultrakill's ideas come from hakita waking up in a cold sweat after a nightmare, blasting heavy metal, doing a line of coke, and carving the idea into his skin with it somehow magically transforming into code.
@@pashadanilov3490firestarter and jumpstart are both nothing like turbo overkill. this LITERALLY has nothing to do with turbo overkill but the fact it has a chainsaw. get better bait.
I like how these variants have had a consistent sort of "analog tech" theme; gasoline, a car battery, and a chainsaw are the last things you'd think of in a religiously inspired sci-fantasy where machines are fueled by blood.
I can’t tell if swords machine makes the chainsaw more or less expected. On one hand, swords machine technically has a chainsaw arm. On the other, it’s a more futuristic, integrated weapon, rather than just a garden shed chainsaw strapped onto a boom-stick.
@@MageBurger I think that looking at swordsmachine's sword it doesn't give chainsaw vibes. It has a motor, but I think the lack of teeth on the weapon means that the revving of a combustion engine is more likely fuelling the weapon's heated element.
@@bigrat1075 during gameplay, for me at least, the revving takes up more of the whole thing for me. I didn’t even know it had no teeth, nor do I remember heating all too well. I just know that thing gets tossed about in the same way you can do with the sawed-on chainsaw. Looking at renders closely, yeah, there’s no teeth. The facts show it’s not a chainsaw. However, since I thought it was a chainsaw, my expectations of V1 having a chainsaw were set higher than if I knew the facts. So in this case, I’d say it depends on whether a person was like me and had the revving take precedent, or actually looked at the sword properly.
@@MageBurger I think the swordmachine blade acts more like a noisey High frequency blade (see Raiden's swords in MGS:R). So the sword has no teeth but it vibrates so hard it can cut through most things.
it's strange, this is the only variant that adds something to the model of the weapon, I wonder if Victoria will redo all the other variants and sprinkle a little something, like a coin holder on the marksman it could help with readability while you're switching weapons, too; blue keeps the original, then red and green have something extra
Here's your reminder that, from what I remember of the devstream, this update is also coming with 7-S, reworked enemy code, brutal difficulty, and a new alt weapon too. Sure there aren't any new major levels in this update, but I can tell it's still going to be an absolute banger! Keep em coming Hakita!
The only thing I'm going to correct you on is Hakita said the enemy code rework is coming with the layer 8 update, not this upcoming one. Other than that, yep that's pretty much the whole list of stuff in this update. Honestly, this is so much new stuff that I've personally taken it upon myself to banish anyone who says that this update is lacking because it doesn't have layer 8 to the Garden of forking paths.
Just clarifying, by reworked enemy code it doesn't mean the enemies will behave differently, it just means they'll clean up the code to make new stuff easier to add, the enemies will behave the same.
- Hakita invented so much different weapons, that by now I think the is out of imagina... - *Makes a yo-yo chainsaw* - I'm done...give him a game of the year already...
Red rocket launcher: attacking your enemies with gasoline and matches Red Revolver: attacking your enemies with a revolver… but cooler Red rail gun: attacking your enemies with the unrivaled power of the maurice
"we should add a sawed-off shotgun, maybe it could have less range but far more dama-" hakita: "sawed-on." "...wha-" hakita: "chainsaw shotgun." "hakita how would that even-" hakita: "you can shoot the chainsaw"
I made a comment on the red Nailgun where I suggested sawed off was a possibility… …I don’t know how I didn’t think of Hakita making a pun out of it. It’s so obvious and so twisted and so unexpected and makes so much sense, it’s just…so goddamn Hakita!
If anyone is wondering why there is no style bonuses, Hakita confirmed in the discord that he didn't have time to add them before this video. When the update comes out, there will be unique style bonuses
the ultrakill community had like half a year to guess the new red varients but hakita still manages to blindsight us with the best weapon concepts i have ever seen
Hakita explicitly said "first OF THREE red weapon variants" in the fire starter video's description. Paying closer attention will do you good more often than not.

“An old chainsaw was found in some basement dwellers apartment during the Great War. What perplexed scientists was that basement dwellers weren’t invented yet, but he existed anyway. Readings of the EM spectrum surrounding the basement indicated such existence was formed from sheer spite against the divine council for confiscating their bisexual lighting. These EM waves were eventually found to manipulate matter in a most interesting way. Concentrating the sheer rage of the basement dwellers into any form of matter gave it an incredible potential energy that stored its spatial positioning into a magnetic pole, causing the metallic aspects of the chainsaw to return to a point of origin after any amount of force causing a trajectory. It was nearly impossible to reproduce this phenomena, thus the single successful experiment was made compatible with any weaponry to be shared between any soldier at any time. This only increased the genocide ten fold for all parties, nearly ending the Great War by complete human extinction. It was the first item to be put out of commission during a series of events that would lead to a peaceful end for the war. Though multiple government bodies confirmed enclosing this deadly weapon in the basement, hell itself took hold of the great communicator and kept it in the digital vaults of the terminals to one day be resurrected and wielded to inflict the carnage it was created for…”

my brother in christ, have you heard of a game that lets you have as much attachments you want on a singular gun AKA the 1911 without any limits and turn it into the most disgusting thing in existence?
I posted a first iteration of a functioning airsoft Ultrakill shotgun a year ago and ever since I printed the first model, I've worked in improving the design and adding electronics to emulate each different variant as well as possible given the constraints of the real life design and the functionality of the real weapon itself. It has been a long and arduous process, but I finally managed to get a nice design and code running, and I was waiting to see what the third variant was before printing everything since I wanted to showcase it as a finished product. In fact, I wanted to release the models and code for free the same day the next update was released, and so I hoped one of the first variants to be unveiled would be the shotgun. And now, despite my immense hype to try out these sick new toys in-game, you're telling me that not only did you unveil the shotgun last, not only do I barely have a few days (or even hours!) to get the updated code for the last variant ready, but also I now have to SOMEHOW IMPLEMENT AND 3D PRINT A FUCKING YO-YO CHAINSAW INTO AN AIRSOFT GUN!!!?? ... I guess I'll wait until the game goes out of early access to release the models.
are you set on releasing all three variants at once? i'd love to mess around with the green and blue before you're done with the red, but i'm also fine with waiting if you can't
@@crckrbrrs The Sawed-On is basically done too, but it's an optional add-on. I'm only lacking a final prototype. I'm kinda struggling to find a proper power supply, but when that's done, I'll assemble everything up and start testing.
You know, I DID notice the lack of a chainsaw in this boomer shooter you were making, but with how cool the game was, I kinda forgot. This has gotta be the most baller way of introducing one, too!
both because they’re new content, and because they’re not too conventional. a lot of that feeling is hype. any twat with high standards wouldn’t be that impressed by what the devs have come up with. however can’t deny they’re funnier looking than a simple firearm.
@@MetalX34The new variants definitely shake up the gun meta though so there's also that. For instance, by running Sawed On Shotgun, you sacrifice the reliable damage of shotgun swaps. In return, you get a Yo-yo chainsaw that interacts with the weapon next to it.
@@Ludwig_Perpenhente I mean i assume the chainsaw is just the alt fire, normal fire probably will still work for shotgun swapping. Look at the description if you doubt me.
I had a guess on the last red Nailgun video that the red shotgun would either be a twist on sawed off or it would absorb projectiles and fire them back. I feel like kicking myself for not coming up with “sawed on” as the twist.
@@zebefreod871 Going even further, I don't think "detachable paddleball chainsaw" is something anybody predicted for any weapon at all, yet it also somehow totally works as a concept. It truly is a miracle that Hakita is directing Ultrakill and not the fans
I know you probably wont see this, but i love your game and i can't comprehend how can you always come up with gameplay mechanics and lore which just blows my mind
What I love about the Red Variants is how they are similar to attacks to the recurring bosses, such as the Malicious Face to the Malicious Railcannon. Malicious Railcannon is to the Malicious Face’s beam. JumpStart Nailgun is to the windup attack the Ferryman uses to blast lightning. Firestarter Rocket is to the Streetcleaner’s basic fire attack. While the Sawed-On may seem obvious to being a Swordsmachine reference, I see it as a mix between Swordsmachine and Hideous Mass’ harpoon attack, as it shoots out and reels back, being able to be parried. V1 being an unkillable machine that stops at nothing and literally adapts their arsenal off the fucking enemies it’s killed has to be one of the most badass aspects of V1 not many people talk about.
I love how many of Hakita's weapons are like "Cool, but how does it exactly work?" And then he proceeds to show the craziest gameplay possibilities imaginable! Dude's a maniac.
Normal updates: we want to maximize the enjoyment of the expirience by adding features that are both satisfying and balanced. Hakita: haha chainsaw go brrrrrr
blue variants: oh cool, a new weapon! i wonder what this does? green variants: wow, what a cool spin on this weapon! red variants: the world is your canvas. SO PICK UP YOUR BRUSH.
Depends on what you mean by brutal, because the railgun having the green variant piercing through your skin, slowly, painfully looks pretty brutal, but if you mean more damage and badass-er, you're right (death at 20000 volts with the minigun, nuke with railgun, sharpshooter being piercer but better, rocket launcher and cover yourself in oil to fly, and the sawed-on shotgun)
@@lkfenc A lot of it also has to do with the visuals. Sure, the concept of a drill digging through your skin is pretty insane, but the alternative is an instant explosion at your whim. Plenty of carnage, and then with the others, such as setting literally everything on fire, literally mowing down hordes with a chainsaw, and using a nailgun to summon the wrath of god upon a single filth, you have some pretty insane spectacle going on.
I think the most PAINFUL weapons in the game are the following: Firestarter gasoline (burning alive is no fun), Sawed-On (flesh and skin go bye bye) and the Sawblade Launcher (same reason as the sawed on)
My Dearest Hakita, As I sit here, contemplating the pixels of your creation, I find myself swept away by the brilliance of your mind. In the vast expanse of the digital realm, you have crafted worlds that have captivated my imagination and stirred emotions I never knew existed. From the electrifying chaos of ULTRAKILL to the anticipation of the three new guns you're conjuring into existence, your creativity knows no bounds. Each line of code, every pixel meticulously placed, is a testament to your passion and dedication. Your ability to weave together mechanics and aesthetics is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Yet, beyond the realms you've crafted, there lies a presence, an essence that transcends the digital. It's the imprint of your soul, the essence of who you are, that draws me inexorably closer. Though we may not have met in the physical realm, I feel a connection that defies distance and time. Your ingenuity, your drive, your spirit-these are the qualities that I find myself falling for, deeper with each passing moment. Your commitment to your craft mirrors the commitment I feel growing within my own heart. It's a symphony of passion, resonating between us, creating a harmony that defies explanation. In the world of ULTRAKILL, chaos reigns supreme. But amidst the chaos, there is beauty. And in the beauty, there is you. You are the architect of this digital universe, the mastermind behind every exhilarating moment. And as I navigate through the corridors of your creation, I can't help but feel your presence, guiding me, inspiring me. Hakita, though our paths may not have crossed in the physical realm, know that my heart beats in synchrony with yours, across the vast expanse of cyberspace. With each line of code, with every new gun you forge, you etch yourself deeper into my soul. Until the day our avatars meet, know that you reside in the most sacred chamber of my heart. With all my love, absolutecoffee (this is a joke and this was written with chatGPT because fuck writing all that)
TL;WM (Too little, write more) Also I’m relieved it was ChatGPT which wrote that, since I swear 5 of the paragraphs said the exact same thing with different words and that would’ve been a lot of effort I would’ve had to resist the urge to call you out on.
I love that the sawed on shotgun synergizes with the nailgun sawblade launcher. It gives both guns more fun interactions and allows for sawblade users to have a stronger circle of death while it allows for nailgun users to use their nailgun's while also having a circle of death. Making the knuckleblaster the way that chainsaw is disconnected is great as well. Overall I just adore how interconnected this weapon feels to the others already in game.
And then there is me who uses Sawblade Attractor and Nailgun Overheat. Honestly i am not sure on how i use Sawed-On other than using it as SRS but for the Lesser enemies.
Your creative genius when it comes to creating not only silly and witty but also incredibly well thought out and interesting weapons scares me sometimes
@@abiramkalugotla4816I mean, on paper, it’s a drill that spins on its own and latches onto living things, causing blood to explode out of them while it’s active.
I remember thinking that the Red Shotgun would probably have some sort of charge mechanic like the other variants. None of my speculation came close to this. You're a mad genius.
I thought it would make another style bonus more accessible. The Firestarter did that with *+FRIED* and the JumpStart did that with *+CONDUCTOR,* so I thought the red Shotgun would do something similar. Oh boy, how wrong I was, and how grateful I am that I was wrong, lest this chainsaw paddleball of a weapon not exist.
@@dukefang1001 Yeah, I thought it might be some sort of Ice-based weapon to complete a Fire-Electric-Ice trio, similar to what Painkiller did with it's shotgun. Maybe with the lore involving some sort of coolant, since the Shotgun in this game is all about heat. A Freeze mechanic probably wouldn't work with the high speed of Ultrakills combat though. Plus it probably wouldn't work against bosses. My other idea was something similar to the Heat Blast Plasma Rife from the newer Doom games, where the alt fire is charged by using the primary fire, since it was the only other "charge" mechanic I could think of that wasn't used by another shotgun variant. Though, now that I think about it, that mechanic is used by the Green Nailgun. The real Red Shotgun is way better for Ultrakill than either of my ideas.
@@somebodyrandom27 Funnily enough, the bonus I was thinking was most likely was *+SPLATTERED.* I thought it would cause an explosion that wouldn’t do much damage, but launch enemies so violently that they themselves exploded on a nearby surface.
I love how the chainsaw rev at the beginning mirrors the pitch shift at that part of the world looks red. IT FITS SO WELL!!! Sorry it's Danse Macabre. I am a fool...
First we have Adventure Mode for Dwarf Fortress coming in less than a week and now we have an ULTRAKILL update coming in (maybe) a week. This is a great week for my hyper fixations.
