My favorite touch with the Gabriel fight is how he starts in his red enraged form and when you reach his second phase he goes back to the regular color palette, as an inverse of how it is in his first fight. You can literally see his character arc through the fighting.
I didn’t want them to make a standard fire and brimstone hell, because all the other layers have such unique and thematic depictions of hell unlike anything else, but they did anyways and I still love it regardless because it’s so damn good
That kind of thing usually doesn't happen to me, I just get impressed internally but from the outside I look neutral, but I lost my shit multiple times during WRATH and HERESY
Im very new to this game, in fact i started playing this 5 days ago and Ive already finished act 1. I want to learn movement mechanics and coin mechanics and i found this channel
well glad you came to the right place, the community is extremely open to newcomers, if you're willing to put the time in, ultrakill can be the most rewarding single player fps on the steam library. I highly suggest looking into coin mechanics first, then try to ease into movement mechanics as you train muscle memory on how to use your weapons.
I feel like honestly a first time play through should be done when it's finished, everything was a bit too easy in this act compared to when i first played through the game, only like 20-30 deaths combined with 14 on trying to learn gabe a bit.
@@aarepelaa1142 i was a bit sad when i killed him on my 3rd try when i just got on after weeks of not playing on my computer but good news is theres a new P door under construction
heresy might be simultaneously one of my least favorite layers. and also one of my favorite. being so used to the vibes of greed and wrath. the whiplash i got from everything being classic hell totally tripped me up and the unsettling droning and the music being more in your face than usual. everything was super intense there was one bit where i honestly thought something wicked would return. amazing game.
I was kinda hoping they’d include a new enemy type, preferably like some sort of new demon or husk-tier enemy on the same level of Swordmachine or the Mindflayer. Machines are just more threatening and various for now
@@solomon9655 it definitely is, the style Ranks are harder to get, though it might just be that we’ve gotten too used to the previous level of difficulty
My reaction upon entering Heresy for the first time was pretty similar to yours. Fun fact: 6-1 is named after a Sunn O))) song, and 6-2 is named after a Machine Head song. Hakita and his music references everywhere.
@@extremetie I think defenceless isn’t exactly true, virtues are lesser angels capable of harming v1, and are much lesser than the angels on the council, Gabriel even called the last one brother. Gabe just did the heavy lifting for them for so long they became complacent, it sounds like they didn’t even attempt to fight back in the end cutscene. That being said I’m pretty sure gabe is supposed to be top tier in this universe so relative to him, most things really are defenceless lmao.
Jesus Christ, this is my first time watching you and DAMN is your skill just stunning, I don’t think I would be able to handle juggling coins while on the move, as well as following it up with throwing another coin to railgun combo, like holt shit.
This update was incredible, ULTRAKILL only gets better and better the longer it keeps going, the whole experience with the WRATH and HERESY layers were unforgettable, amazing! Thanks, Hakita!
Fun Fact: The Streetcleaners can blow away the rocket which is a reference to TF2 Pyro Airblast and you can launch yourself with the rocket launcher which is another reference to TF2 but in the form of Soldier
They don't actually blow it away, not really a reference to TF2. If you pay attention closely they're actually slapping the rocket or core eject away with their hand.
I love how chill and calm and kinda, for lack of a better word, wet the first part of Wrath is then on the second part the environment totally changes to match the vibe of you know, Wrath. And the fact it was all hidden under the ocean is great
it is pretty dumb how weapon slot 5 isn't in the options menu. i was able to find out the rocket launcher was mapped to the 5 key by pure deductive reasoning, but the fact that you couldn't figure it out shows how much of a problem it is.
for me personally it wasn't a problem because I'm completely fine with using numbers to switch weapons because I do it in literally every single game I play that has multiple weapons
Hakita had to compose Death of God's Will (Gabriel 6-2) 4 hours before the Update dropped due to complications on his Schedule. So if the Act II update was kinda weirdly buggy, that's the answer.
I don't get why gabe 2 is much easier than gabe 1 Also, oh my god does he make 5-3 powerup room look like a joke Also also, I like how the final fight in 6-1 is just a cybergrind wave, also not so sure but it also felt like the soundtrack for it had a lil hint of castle vein in homage to the hideous masses, that's a nice touch
Gabe 2 is supposed to be Gabe being pissed he lost, then realizing that he was wrong and calming down before accepting that he got his ass kicked by a gopro
@@shaggdagg and I'm surprised cocky gabe that doesn't yet know the power of V1 is harder to fight than prepared gabe who really really really wants to murder the shit out of v1
@@shaggdagg l still just think from a game design the bosses in this act shouldve been harder. Just remember the first times you fought V2 and gabriel, they felt wayyy tougher even if they were mechanically worse, you improve at a greater rate than they get harder.
the update to the whiplash in this was way too harsh if it did the same stamina-block the slide has, with the hard damage build-up creeping in after around a second of pulling and mayb ymaking it so a pulled in enemy bleeds less, the nerf would be completly fine hell, it would be great! the aggressive playstyle could still be kept, ubt you'd still be in danger since it wouldn't be a get out of jail free card for health
The nerf only affects you if you're not playing stylishly lol. It's to encourage people to play the game more adaptably. Whiplash is still great it's just not a totally safe option any more.
@@louwashe I P ranked the new levels and i still found the way Whiplash was nefed to be horrendous a nerf was needed yes, but the way it's done now kneecaps it completly
is it just me or are the P rank time limits way harder to do now? I keep getting S ranks in everything except for the time. I'll always miss it but just by 10 or 20 seconds. I knew I was a bit rusty, but I don't think I'm _that_ rusty.
I remember in the room with idol behind the glass that I somehow killed the unkillable street cleaner and the idol invulnerability just moved to a soldier. I even have a screenshot
@@foodluver7779 you take hard damage whenever you use it on an enemy and aren't on full hp, your style meter affects how much hard damage is taken too if i remember correctly
I'm not very good at shooters. I'm definitely not good at ultrakill. I also beat the second gabriel fight with only the alt charge pistol and the green railcannon and a little bit of parrying. I even missed the parrys half the time. This gabriel fight took me 7 attempts while the first one took me 30 attempts. It's too easy.
Arena is bigger with no holes, he gets calmer half way through and his phase transition leaves him REALLY open. It isn't easier per se but it has a few little things that make it generally easier.
i literally didnt use the rocket launcher after i got it cause there was no option to rebind it. really annoying, hopefully that will be patched in soon!
I felt like I was playing on violent even though I was playing on standart. I needed to be ridiculously close to the enemy to heal and sometimes v1 couldn't heal at all. Is there anyone who had same issues ?
The game has gotten a pretty significant difficulty boost, namely with the whiplash nerf, hard damage rework, and style reworks. Act II especially gets pretty comfortable with putting in cybergrind-esque arenas in the later levels(with swordmachines being semi-common and the 2 hideous masses in 6-1).
The issue you are most likely experiencing is something called "hard damage", a violent+ exclusive mechanic. Hard damage is triggered by some specific situations, and decreases the max hp for a short time.
Gabriel goes from beta to Chad, what a character arc. I love that V1 is just for gameplays sake, but with the story it feels more about Gabriel. One theory is that god is gone cause he's controlling V1 to wipe the slate clean.
im not too huge a fan of them either, but i think it was a needed patch. whiplash was too easy tocget free heals off of so im glad they made it less reliant and more of a reward if your health and style are high
its not that big of a deal, sucks for sure but with the style changes its definitely not as bad as it seems. it also doesnt build up super fast so you can do a quick pull of yourself to them to minimize hard damage if your hp is low
@@coobk limiting a single player play style regardless if it's for movement or healing is silly. Blood is fuel. This isn't doom but is becoming it quickly. Especially with soldiers blast resistant now it's a weak point based game play.
Have you seen the easter egg in 5-2 if not: STEP 1. Go to the ship STEP 2. Go into one of the cylinder shaped things above the ship STEP 3. If nothing is in there, go to the other one. STEP 4. If there is an item in the other cylinder, pick it up. STEP 5. Grab the Blood Orb for 200 health. STEP 6. Go back to the start of the level without taking any damage. STEP 7. Find a way on top of the massive pillar you find at spawn.
@@godlyvex5543 dude spoiled absolutely nothing There’s nothing saying what *HE* is There’s nothing saying what the item is There’s only how you do it, all the surprise is still there Hell, there isn’t even what you do with the item being spoiled here None of this is a spoiler
@@godricktheminecrafted3113 I suppose it must be similar to telling somebody that to beat outer wilds you must go to the ash twin, use the black hole warp tower for the ash twin, grab the object inside the place it takes you to, bring it to dark bramble, enter the red point of interest, do not move after entering until you pass the danger, then from the center go into an area with no lights and lots of brambles, and find a portal, then once you arrive, go to the center of that area, activate the device, and put in a code with the first symbol being an L rotated 45 degrees clockwise, the second one being an L with the top tips connected, and the third symbol being an open parentheses and a closed parentheses, with the top of the open one connected to the bottom of the close one, then confirming the password. It's not as if that series of instructions entirely invalidates the game and can not be unlearned.
@@godlyvex5543 there’s a problem there You actually named all of the things you need to go to, And outer wilds is, in essence, a puzzle game, where you need to figure out what to do next over several different playthroughs This is a fun Easter egg that is completely optional and very easy to miss without someone telling you about it
so my only complaint about this new load of content the boss fights more feel like a break from the action instead of being more action i feel like gabriel and leviathan were too easy
@@HerbMessiah yeah same goes for ferryman the hitboxes feel way too big for his attacks honestly i hope hakita doesnt rush himself for his health and the guality off the game
