On our first of many #MarvelMondays, we take a look at Ultron in Expert Mode, showing how to build the encounter deck and the variation available. Then, Protection Spider-Man and Leadership Black Panther test their luck against what should be the greatest challenge in the Core Set.

You guys are simply the best at what you do in these play throughs. On the back of your hard work I have pre-ordered and I am very excited for the game. So far you have taught me l5r and netrunner two of the best games in my collection. Thanks for all you do and your hard work and dedication to the community. Bringing the cards up during the play is so helpful.

Also, @49:30 Vulture should only attack if you're in Hero form. in alter-ego his text just doesn't trigger. I think so atleast.

Hey TC, absolutely love these videos. I was always a fan since Netrunner days of this channel, now with MC I'm back for more goodness. Now, about that question Zach raises on minute 31, was that clarified? it feels like whoever defends should be considered "attacked" too, no? :)

Because it is "initiates an attack", Spidey blocking does not trigger Spider-Sense. The attack is initiated against another player, THEN you decide to defend. Attack was still initiated against the other player.

Hi! Did you ever get it clarified about Spider-Man defending for another player, and Black Panther defending with an ally or not defending?

Ey guys, great videos. Maybe i am wrong but i think you shouldnt get spidey ready at 1:06:30. So you would have been stunned for one more turn. Keep it up, you are awesome.

Pretty sure you’re playing black Panther’s retaliate against the bots correctly. I saw a video with the game designers and I think that’s how they were doing it. Great videos guys!

I agree. Watching all the playthroughs and the way to text is written every attack aimed at Black Panther activates retaliate. It would only not work if damage only is done (without an attack like BPs daggers).

Great game...were you playing the encounter cards at the right time when your deck ran out? In the ffg run though they dealt the card immediately after the deck ran out but didn't reveal it until the villain phase when encounter cards are dealt by the villain. I've found plying this way stops some awkward interactions

That would be an amazing difference! Will have to crawl through the rulebook a few more times before the next stream. Hopefully it works like that!

Don’t know if it’s just me, but Zach’s mic always seems hotter to me then Steven’s. Both on play through videos and the podcast. Might just be Zach projecting more, but I think it’s worth adjusting the levels in the future for a better balance.

Now that the game has been out for a while, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Core Set Basic Cards: Hellicarrier, Avengers Mansion, Energy, Strength, and Genius (and maybe Haymaker, since it is the third resource piece to extra Hellicarriers/Avengers Mansion)

A little mistake on the use of the web shooters: you exhaust it at every use so you shoudn't be able to use it twice at the first Spidey turn^^'

When a side scheme has any symbol “+ 1 boost, Hazard, or crisis” doesn’t that effect only apply to the MAIN scheme? That’s what makes you want to get rid of the side schemes...? Awesome video guys

wait... isn't that drones are also count as minions. so whenever they attack. they also get a boost card from the encounter deck. maybe im wrong tho.

Minions never get boost cards. Only Villains.

Wait you draw an encounter card Everytime you cycle your deck? I can't find that in the rules. Is it a variant?

A valiant effort. Getting smashed by the hardest villain in the game is a good sign. Lots of room for the card pool to grow while still providing a challenge.

During spider mans first turn, you used web shooter twice. Isn't that not allowed since you need to exhaust it to use?

I'm wondering if saying "We're never touching them anyways" regarding side schemes is a good strategy, ha. Then again, I'm not sure you had much choice.

In you're second play video, the guy from ffg said that spidey sense would trigger twice if you defended someone else then took the hit.

Looking at the rules, we think that's wrong. "When an attack is initiated" is pretty clear. The attack is initiated against the other Hero, even if Spider-Man blocks. Might need clarification in their first FAQ.

Steven Im so sorry man. The defeat on your face nearing the end feels so bad. Every episode I've seen of black panther being played he seems so frustrating, especially with ultrons drones.

worth noting also.. when you're about to draw up and run out of deck, I think you're supposed to do the extra encounter card before you ready all your side of the board. especially painful for when the encounter is an Assault and your hero is exhausted ;P

We've learned a lot since recording some of these! You deal the extra encounter card to you, but you do not resolve it until the resolution step of the Villain Phase! So you resolve that extra card during the same framework that you resolve the standard encounter cards.

Wow, people go insane about the cards on stream not being sleeved. It makes no difference to you! You are not playing with these cards, and you never will. Calm down, watch the game.

Andrew Brown In the live stream (before this video started) it was brought up so many times they had to give the full explanation why they weren’t using sleeves twice. So yes, some people need to calm down. And some other people should make sure they know what they’re talking about before they post snarky comments.
