This is my complete teardown of the Umarex Gauntlet in .22 caliber. While I tore the gun down I took photos and made some tweaks to help get more performance out of the rifle. I increased the barrel transfer port size, I polished the Hammer and Hammer tube, I chamfered all ports to assist in a better and less restricted flow of air to the back of the pellet.

Like everyone else said, great vid. It inspired me to take mine down and do some needed polishing on all rubbing parts and especially the barrel. In the process, there is a small round seal about 1/4 inch in diameter and the same in height that can pop out. It is the transfer port seal. It goes between the pressure tube and the breach block. Mine did just that and it took me a while to figure out where it went. Mr.Hagjimoto confirmed I was putting it back in the right place. Another thing about the Gauntlet, it has a floating barrel that is subject to major point of impact shifts if it is banged even the slightest bit. It appears to stay on target once it is set up but don't grab the gun by the barrel or lean it against anything with the barrel touching. The barrel is locked into the shroud and the shroud is a bit heavy. They are both supported at the receiver end and there is a lot of leverage that can work against stability. One method of helping this situation along would be to add a barrel band except the air cylinder, to which the band would be connected, is large and not rock solid in itself. This is a condition that will be open for a lot more discussion as these guns come to market. One good thing is that my gun stacks pellets on top of each other at 40 yards as long as the barrel is not disturbed.

Excellent video. As an airgun store owner with two Gauntlets on order, this is invaluable information. I try to do as much tuning as possible up front for my customers. Not sure I will do all this but perhaps if I keep one for myself. I'd also like to take an opportunity to address several folks who are expressing disappointment at the over-all workmanship. $300 gun people! Lets get real. A regulated PC with the features on this gun for $300? I sell, and really like, the Gamo Urban which is unregulated and also $300. Every one I have sold has been a tack driver but have lots of little irritating things like flashing not properly trimmed on the stock. Again; $300. Make your expectations match the price. If you want to spend $800-$1000 you should expect much finer workmanship but at this price point if you don't think you are going to be doing some clean-up and tuning you have unrealistic expectations. People were raving about the Stormriders at $200. I have 3 in my store and have made one into a project gun. Into it now for another $200 and I almost have something close to the Urban. Oh, wait; but he Urban is $300. Like I said; adjust your expectations. Looking forward to your follow-up videos.

Hey Mr. Wolfe (Pulp Fiction quote) your gun store sounds like the kind of place I'd like to shop from. You pre-tune guns for customers. That's like I set up bass guitars before I sell them. It's all about repeat business. I just got my Gauntlet TODAY 10/17/2020 and I already had leaking issues as I was filling it so I need to take it apart as I watch this video and do what's needed to set it up.

Nice tear down demo, can't believe how rough it is made, no polishing of the moving parts to make cocking the bolt smoother. When I got mine, I was cleaning the barrel before shooting it, the end of my cleaning rod unscrewed and came off and was stuck in place in the breech end of the barrel. I proceeded to remove the two screws on top to remove the barrel but like you said it was difficult to pull out the barrel. I thought part of the the transfer port might extend to some degree into the barrel and may be the reason why the barrel would not come off and I was not about to do a major tear down on a brand new rifle that I'm so eager to shoot so I decided to re-align the barrel and fixed it back in place. I was able to eventually push out the obstruction with the use of weed eater nylon string. On hind sight, I'm glad I did not go on further to remove the barrel otherwise I would have also scalped those o-rings like what happened in your video, then I would be waiting for o-rings instead of shooting.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Hey 1manpwr, do yourself a solid and go to Harbor Freight and by their Metric and Fractional o-ring kits, one blue box and one red box, you will NEVER be in a bind again. While the o-rings may not be of the hardness that the rifle calls for, they will certainly do ok to get you through until the harder ones show up. Thank you for the kind words about the video and I really appreciate your taking the time to chat.

nice job. i just tore my 22 down opened my barrel port up, polished hammer and tube shimmed .187, polished adjust trigger, and shimmed my pressure regulator .020. my results were 921 fps avg with 18.3 exact jumbo diabolo and 962fps with some piranha hollow points 14.3 grain. im more then happy with it you just cant beet it for 300 bucks

You have achieved exactly where I am headed! Congratulations! I agree with 100%, you can not beat the Gauntlet for what it is. The barrel and internals are well made and accuracy beats power every day! First you get em accurate then you tweak for power and the Gauntlet is a pellet stacker out of the box!

Wow. 921 with 18.3 is almost 35 fpe. Right on. I'll be happy between 30 and 35 (can't see it getting much more than 35 anyway). Thanks for the shim size too. Appreciated for sure. I'm waiting for my chronograph before tuning it. Thanks to all of you who are sharing.

This has been the best video on describing the faults and repairs you carried out ,,along with the end results,,I have ever seen on youtube pertaining to an air rifle..very clear and not over the top..As for quality the old saying stays the same You get what you pay for As for myself I paid a lot more for my BSA scorpion in 22 caliber,,out of the box it puts every pellet through the same hole..the term getting a good grouping does not apply to a BSA product,,a cold hammer forged free floating barrel makes all the difference,,Its just a shame here in the UK our rifles are limited to 12 ft pds of energy...Nuts
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Thanks for the kind words friend. The USA will not be holding on to the "sky is the limit" air rifle for long. Too many are running out with 700 FPE .50 cal air rifles which will draw the attention of heavy regulation and then our community will act surprised...... I mean when that much power can be purchased by an 18 year old with now restrictions what did they expect would happen. Ok enough of that... Enjoy the hobby mate and if your ever on this side of the pond and want to do some shooting, you let me know.
@williamsuleyman3018
@williamsuleyman3018 6 лет назад
I know what you mean,,At the end of the day Air rifles should only be used for safe pest control,,some of the calibers in the US are over the top,,Not to mention the fact they run out of air so quickly..My ideal would be 25 caliber putting out 35 ish ft pounds ,,here we have to keep dreaming..and thanks for the invite,,very kind of you

V8der I wanted this gun ever since its introduction at shot show 2017 which was in February. There are two reasons that I amazed at Umarex, one of them is how fast they announce a rifle and then have it available within the same year is unheard of. The second reason is well they implemented what some of the greatest manufacturers in history have done which is take existing technologies and products that are scattered around separately and bring them all together to work in harmony. Not only did they do this, they produced an extremely efficient and affordable rifle. I have to say that the Umarex Gauntlet is the best value on the market currently. I paid for this gun full price with expectations of it being a fun little plinker but after shooting it and taking it apart I am convinced that this rifle is an industry game changer with hunting genetics. As always, thank you for your support V8der.

@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
I halfheartedly tried to remove the valve but stopped because the forces that were being applied to the valve appeared to be excessive and that normally means if i continued, I will break something. Because Umarex does not have a exploded view of the rifle and there are not any parts available. Typically i like to have the parts explosion in front to study what techniques where used during assembly, not this one, I was free styling it. thanks for the kind words.

Wow Haj, this was one awesome presentation. I really like the way you turned this into a slide show presentation. It reminds me of the way things were taught back in the 60's and 70's when I grew up and even the military's way of presenting information. I just subscribed and look forward to more of your videos sir. Very eloquently spoken, I'm just blown away at this presentation. It's almost like "hey this guy gets me"......I mean its like you absolutely knew what we were looking for? I wish more airgun youtubers would take this slide show approach. Thanks man.

Thanks, CampFussell! I wish I could take all the credit as if I conjured up a better presentation approach but I have to honestly say, I just did not want to bull through gigabytes and gigabytes of video editing, LOL I will spend 20-30 hours in DaVinci Resolve to edit, I just wanted to capture the important points and get the info out to folks to get them to start thinking about MOD kits and approaches. Thank you again for the view and comments!
@randomvideosfilmcollection3161
I agree with his comment 100% and im going to Sub to your channel in hopes of seeing more videos on the Gauntletsssss. Hopefully mod videos from A-Z etc... Being Well Spoken and Clear about things, not leaving things out and covering it all A-Z very clear is what so many airgun breakdown and mod videos lack. Dont need fancy and clever edits and a bunch of non sense chitter chat. Nice when everythings cut and dry, clear and quick to the point at the same time not rushed tho. VERY GOOD!!! GREAT VID!!! Can wait to see more! Im going to smash the bell button to be notified of future post. Thankyou sir' for providing this great vid...

The Gauntlet is a very accurate and feature rich PCP that only gets better the more you shoot it. Over 50% of what I do when tuning a Gauntlet is really nothing more than accelerating time. @HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
First, thank you for the kind words, next, The hammer shim for the hammer did not do ANYTHING to increase the FPS. The opening and smoothing of the board however did. I am in the process of increasing the regulator from 1250 on the .22 as listed on the bottle to 1400PSI. My preliminary test was very positive and I have to be very careful as they provide the Ninja Regulator with a 1500PSI burst disc so only 100PSI separates success from failure....LOL It is a single stage trigger and I did not spent any time in my video adjusting it as it is just that, a simple adjustment. I actually like the single stage trigger provided, very smooth and not gritty at all. In my followup video i will capture all that has transpired since my first video including, polishing and deburring methods, spring preload results, Regulator adjustment and so forth. Shot cards and group results will be shared as well. Thank you for taking time to view and comment.

Yeah... I specifically waited for more experienced cats like you, Ted (yes Ted's holdover Ted) and a few others to let us know what's up. I'm dirt poor so $300 is still an investment especially needing at minimum another $150 for a reliable pump (as I'm more than likely going to buy a yong heng for around 300) it's about a year off yet for me. I could sell something sure (Gibson SG special and a MESA cab available ). Anyway I don't go by manufacturers words. I prefer real world. Thanks for the awesome vidz and the taking some tbh very off putting statements "elsewhere" . Saved me from a nightmare......
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Hello Paul. Thank you for the views and comment man, I appreciate it. I understand what you're saying about $300 is $300 and that is NOT chump change. I know to some folks that is a drop in the bucket but life comes first and that is expensive enough. As for the Gauntlet, please understand that any tweaks, adds or changes that I make are above and beyond what the manufacturer delivers. That is my tweakness shining through. The Gauntlet out of the box only has 3 to 4 small issues: 1) A lot of owners have found their Air Strippers cracked like mine. Umarex quickly replaced it free of charge. 2) The tank or bottle was loose causing the rifle not to shoot. Resolved by tightening the bottle. 3) The regulator and bottle rotations were not in sync and the fill nipple was not able to be used. Loosen two screws, turn reg to align, tighten screws, done. 4) The shroud was miss aligned. Loosen the left and right stock screws and it lines up nice. There are other things like loose screws and fasteners, dirty barrels and stuff like that but to be honest, you really should double check all new rifles to make sure they are clean and tight prior to pressurizing and use. Wheather its the .177 or .22 both out of the box offer great accuracy and 60+ shots per fill with relatively cheap pellets at up to 60 Yards consistently and that is pretty dang impressive.

Being that it is a single stage trigger there really was not much to hate about it. I had the my trigger really bad ad well I’m knew ti PCP this is my second (first on urban gamo/bsa just amazing accuracy better than gauntlet) only drawback is magazines price and the shot count. The triggers with my gauntlet was horrible. Here’s What I did : personally adjusting the trigger I kept air cylinder on the rifle ( for dry firing) remove the stock and them in the trigger mechanism you just adjust the topone and the bottom one (trigger weight as u making the turns u dry firing as u go and gets beetter with the use.

@randomvideosfilmcollection3161
Hajimoto Productions I have The .177 and I feel the same way. I think the trigger far surpasses about any trigger out that on a pcp rifle at this and even higher price points. I think if more people would take a bit of time to practice their own tigger control with breathing etc. Then they will find that the tirgger on the gauntlet is not bad at all and as i shoot hole in hole i really cant find the time to complain about much. Only thing im truely disapointed in is the sound moderateration as i find the so called "Monocore" baffle system they have in the gauntlet a joke. IMO they could have made it much quieter without spending anymore money just by installing regular ol" stacked cone type baffels in the shroud. Which is what il prolly try to change it up with. Id love to know if you have taken any steps to lower the DB or if you plan to and if so how?... Thanks...

Thanks for the kind words. It appear that increasing the hammer spring preload does nothing for increasing FPS, I think the valve dwell needs to be addressed or the reg pressure adjust up a bit. I plan on replacing the spacer that is located between the hammer and the valve with something 1/16th of inch shorter to see if it allow the valve to stay open longer and in turn speed things up. If you are on Facebook or any of the major Air Gun forums, I have more live and dynamic discussions that YT does not see.

How did you polish the tube and hammer? Like method for polishing the tube?
@randomvideosfilmcollection3161
Great Vid, as always... Very well spoken and clear and EZ to understand... 2- Quick Questions+ 1.) Did the Vent Hole in the barrel shroud help lower the report of the shots fired and/or do anything else to add benefits??? ......AND...... 2.) My Plastic "Bottle Shroud" isnt on tight like it should be. It doesnt touch the barrel shroud or cause any real issues, its really just mostly annoying with my slight ocd. It only has a tiny bit of play in it. Just 2 or 3 hairs worth of movement (wiggle) to it. I tried taking it off, then putting it back on then only snugn up the 2 +screws on each side just enough to hold (but not over tight) but it still has that tiny bit of play/wiggle/movement in it that gets on my nerves at times... *Do you know of what i could do to solve this issue? ......Anyway....... Thanks for the great Vids and Info. You give so much more help than the the maker that should be the one stepping up to help so a BIG THANKS... ~DrJones~ [01/07/18]

Thank you for the support and compliments DrJones. Answers: 1) The 3mm hole that is drilled in the shroud is designed so that the air pressure that is created between the shroud and the barrel of the rifle, by the air stripper, is slowly released. When the air stripper peels off air it is forced between the shroud and barrel and it has no place to go. Eventually, the stripped air will reach a volume and pressure that will not allow any more in. The hole allows the air to travel the entire length of the barrel and be released in a controlled fashion. The longer the air and subsequent sound waves are forced to travel, the more their sound signature will be reduced. I have noticed a slight reduction in sound yes but the sound reduction is only a secondary benefit of drilling the hole in the shroud. Because more air is allowed to move away from the pellets travel path, less turbulence is present which allows the pellet to have a more stable and unmolested flight. 2) The forearm shroud is constructed from some sort of polymer which is inherently flexible. Short of designed a metal bracket that attached to the tank and give the shroud a third point of support, I do not know what can be done. Thank you again for the comments and continued support.

just shot my Gauntlet in .177 accuracy is exceptional for a 260 dollars pcp , best pellet so far is the Barracuda Match 10.65 gr 4.52 , i tried other pellets from JSB, AA, Crosman, RWS , All in different weight, here's a sample of a shot string with Barracuda match 10.65 . 836, 836,838,833,830,833,833,838,831,833, HI 838, LO 830, AVG 834, ES 8, SD 2 , 40 yards accuracy .333 . As you stated is the velocity is a little lo i wish it was a little higher for this weight pellet . just wanted to share this info with you.

First, let me say congratulate you on getting your Gauntlet! 1) Next, be sure to coat those probe o-rings in silicone lube. 2) Shoot 200 more pellets down range through the barrel. 3) Thoroughly clean the barrel and tighten any loose fasteners. 4) Shoot another 800 pellets down range through the barrel. 5) Thoroughly clean the barrel and tighten any loose fasteners. 6) Apply silicone lube or pelgun oil on the probe o-rings. NOW do a ten shot string and record your numbers. Compare against the baseline you got when the gun came out of the box. You are going to have a lot of fun with your Gauntlet!

Kinda reminds me of my Umarex Octane,... Very crude machining & I even had damage to a new piston seal as soon as I put it in because of the metal burs all over the cylinder was scratching the seal. I put some sand paper on a dowel & cleaned it up best I could was it was a little surprising.

Thank you for this video I was hoping that somebody would put out a video on a tear down of the gauntlet. I'm very much a newbie when it comes to PCP teardown. Can you put out a video on how you polish the parts and what tools are used? I really want to get the most out of the gauntlet. I've been playing around with a stock gauntlet and been pretty much happy with it the ways performed. I got rid of some vermin that was getting too close for comfort to my home already. So I can only imagine after tweaking the rifle how much better it will be.

I removed my stock. A small piece of rubber fell out. It was maybe 3/4"long, 1/4" wide, with a fiat side and a curved side. The curved side fit the shape of the tube that the air tank screws into, that runs the length of the gun. The tube with the hammer assembly, degassing hole, that the trigger assembly screws to. It took me some time to figure out where it came from. It is placed just ahead of the hole in the stock, that is just forward of the trigger assembly, that fastens the stock to the mane tube frame of the gun. It is a cushion spacer that keeps the stock from contacting the frame tube. Without it the stock mounts improperly. May be that spacer is missing from your gun or has moved out of position, causing the fore stock to touch the barrel. Just a thought.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Are you sure that little piece of rubber is not the the one that goes on the back of the rifle behind the hammer end cap between the cap and the stock? You can reinstall that after the action is back installed without issue.
@MrTUBER408
@MrTUBER408 6 лет назад
I looked all over the gun to see where the little block came from. I noticed a little shallow cut away, just forward of the stock securing bolt, in the rib that runs down the center line of the stock. The rubber block fit perfectly in the little slot and the frame tube fit perfectly into the curved top of the block. I assumed it was a spacer that established the stock to frame tube clearance. There isn't any exploded view of the gun that I have seen. In your disassembly of the gun, I didn't see any little rubber block or where it belonged. I do not have the barrel contacting the fore stock issue. there is a 1/16" clearance. I attributed that clearance to the little rubber block. I will move the block to the rear of the stock.
@skinnymitchairgunbrotherho7152
I love the video I'm absolutely going to use it to upgrade mine only thing that you missed was trigger adjustment my trigger came out of the box with a whole lot of creep at felt like sandpaper I adjusted it and it's much better but now trigger is super sticky if I take up the creep and then let go trigger will stay in place instead of moving forward into its original position
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Hey Skinny Mitch! I skipped the trigger because I am going to be doing a 2 stage mod to the trigger so I will cover it in a future video. I agree with you that the single stage trigger spring is not strong enough to reset the sear. It is a delicate balance of spring weight to re-engage the trigger and a heavy trigger. In most cases what will be found is the angle of the sear face is not at a proper design angle to assist in resetting the trigger and instead just holds the last position which is a pretty dangerous condition especially if the sear was JUST at the breaking point. One of the things that you can do to help this is to take the trigger apart and polish the two faces of the sear. You are not trying to change the plane degree or soften the edges you are simply polishing the faces to get rid of any machining burs to allow the sear to glide back into its starting position. It is obviously difficult to try and cover this stuff in the written form and I do not want you or anyone to try and modify the trigger sear if you are not versed on what you're doing. Watch some videos on AR triggers that go into detail of the inner workings of a trigger so that the written words I share make sense.

I'm new to PCP air rifles so your video was awesome with helping understand it. I'm not new to guns and shooting but taking this apart to Polish the hammer and tubes, that you did is a bit intimidating. I did get the .22 and am loving it. Some quick questions and requests. Mine came with the same bottle gauge you have and they are not the same gauges as werr in the prerelease vids. Those were much easier to see the bottle pressure. Can it be changed? How? I know you can adjust the trigger tension. Can you do a vid on that? As for Your dead shot stand. Couldn't you just slide the forward support back to reduce tension on the shroud? Thanks for all your help.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
If you your rifle is not shooting terrible don't do anything to it, friend, I mean don't fix what is not broken right? I will be converting my trigger to a two-stage and will be doing a video on that which I will share once I do the conversion. If you look online you can purchase replacement pressure gauges that will allow for better reading but a size that is small enough to fit in the shroud opening is the issue. I have modified and corrected my shroud has no more problems. I will share that in a video too 😁 Thanks for the view and comment, shoot safe!

I picked up a Umarex gauntlet . 177 and it's fresh out the box I went out hunting today with it for my first time and I noticed I had jammed two pellets in the gun I used a Rod to get them out . But what I noticed today aswell Is I can hear leaking air coming from the barrel after inspection I also noticed it leaking from the loading area . I don't know where to go from here .. Everyone on Facebook kept saying go ask you your one of the best at this brand and knowledgeable about all calibers of these guns any help
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 3 года назад
I am not sure if you solved your issue but if you are hearing air leaking from the barrel when the bolt is pulled back, that is the valve body or poppet leaking. In some cases shooting the rifle a few dozen times will correct the poppet issue but if the valve body o-ring is leaking, you may need to have some internal work done. This work is covered under your warranty but will require the PCP be mailed back.

Very nice video.... question,though... the way you stacked the brass washers is actually a type of Belleville washer/ spring setup. Aren’t you concerned that, through use, the soft brass will eventually peen, and become smaller. Believe me, I’m not being critical, just wondering.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Neal you sir can be as critical as the subject allows! I don't/won't take it personal but thank you for the respectful tact. Yes you are correct that over time that would flatten IF the were between the hammer or another point of direct contact. Because there is a spacer (plastic) and then the plnunger and then the spring the forces are like you being inside a swimming pool and pushing off the side. It would require substantial forces from the spring to flatten the brass. I clear indeicator of the forces required to flatten the brass would be that the bolt would be near impossible to pull back. Excellent observation Neal, critical thinking, I love it

What size hole did you drill in the shroud, and how far from the end. I assume it is calculated to face downward toward the breach when reattached? Second question is, what is the process to polish the hammer and tube? Special tools required etc.? Thanks for all you do, I am most appreciative.

Gary, Because they have the rear trigger group screw driven through all of the rear of the rifle it makes it difficult. Russell I have been in contact with Umarex USA and they do not have any parts available currently so the proper o-ring sizes are unknown. What I recommend is make your way to your local Harbour Freight store and purchase their large o-ring kits both in fractional and metric. The cost of these kits are under $8 US and will give you close to 800 O-rings that will get you through most any situation until the proper parts become available. You will enjoy your Gauntlet and remember any modification made to the rifle with likely void your warranty so only fix whats broken 😉

My air stripper is stuck in the shroud when I took it off, just wanted to check it out, but I do not have anything long and straight enough to push it out, lol, not sure what to do about that except a long dowel rod, which I haven't got. Anyway, if you increase the transfer port, does the transfer port seal change size, or are you just cutting the metal that encroaches into the port from the valve, or don't touch the valve? I understand that the barrel port can be increased a bit not exceeding 80% of the breach diameter, if I understand and word that correctly. What I don't understand is, how do you open the port from the valve into the breach What keeps the transfer port seal in place, and what metal is actually cut? and What tools are needed to increase the port dimensions? and, What tools are required for the polish of the hammer and inside the hammer tube? I know this is a long series of questions, and I understand you are busy. I just got the .25 cal, and I am still ignorant. So if anyone reads this comment and has any Ideas or videos to recommend, I would appreciate the guidance, and I know that anything I do decide to do is at my own risk, I hold no one responsible for their advice or suggestions. Still doing research, and I will attempt to confirm any recommendations before I attempt any mods. BTW, I really appreciate Hajimoto Productions, and all the knowledge shared hear. Thanks for the info, Keep up the good work.

Yes, I agree, I would say the one thing that Gauntlet was/is in desperate need of is deburring and removal on non-beveled or tapered edges. Yeah, that 780 will get better with more shooting. Be sure to keep a film of silicone grease on the pellet probe as there is a fair amount of pressure lost there if not. The o-rings are typically very dry there and in some rifles have been being sheared as the bolt is pushed forward. I also has conversations with the Umarex folks about the air stripper which they call the Barrel Shroud Muzzle. I suggested that they retool because if they just send more of the same out, they will be broke in no time also. Thanks for the Stop, View, Sub and comment!

Hajimoto Productions Thanks for the tip just silicon greased the probe rings. I was wandering the specs day 1150 regulated pressure but like you pointed it out reg says 1250 on the reciever it say 1250 max. Do you think if switched to a 1200 regulator that it would increase power slightly
@ballejosRB11
@ballejosRB11 6 лет назад
I actually got 70 shots before i got to 1150
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
You are welcome! Well, I have some parts on the way that will allow me to see what the pressure regular is allowing through. These regulators are adjustable so to speak, they use an arrangement of special washers known as bellevue washers, that when set in a certain pattern allow a set pressure through. I will be trying to get my reg to 1400-1450 to see if I can get 920-945FPS out of the 14.3 Crossman Premier Hollow Points which means I should get 865 out of 18.13JSB's. I will be doing some photo slides and configuration of this procedure as well in my next phase of Gauntlet Teardown and Tweak #2. So to answer your question, typically more PSI equals more hammer required to open a stiffer valve which produces more power. The thing you need to know is what is that regulator you currently have allowing through so you know how to measure the result.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
Same here but I expect as i open the valve more and increase the PSI I will be more around 40-45 which I am ok with.

Nice video man! Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I can find any info on the o rings. What sizes are they? Or do you just get a set and see which fits? Thanks Haji!

Hey Vince! I have asked Umarex several times for the sizes and they politely told me that Corporate is not willing to devulge that information. So I bought a large multi pack and tried until I found some winners. LOL

I bought the huge O-ring kits both in Metric and Fractional from Harbor Freight (popular place here in the states) each was like $14 or so and you end up with almost 1000 O-rings. Good luck Vince!

Your hat size must have increased since this vid. So I won't say great vid. (GREAT VID.) OOPS!! One comment, I also have a QB78 and have put some Archer upgrades to it. The Gauntlet is very similar to the QB. The $300 for the Gauntlet is scratch, the SCBA tank, fittings, HP air compressor (I live in the sticks) will set U back more than $300. Please do more on this gun.

Hey Robert! Thanks for stopping by! I still have the same pea brain and one track mind so it appears this video did not impart any wisdom on me 😔 The rifle can be purchased right now for $242.99 Delivered from Sportsman Guide and a 4500PSI pump can be had on eBay For $52. Mount a scope and grab some pellets and you out on the range and $295 - $350. Tanks and HPA compressors and all the rest of the convenience items can come later once you determine if PCP air gunning is for you. Take it from a lifelong springer, rimfire and centerfire guy, once I see the power, consistency, and affordability of PCP, I reduced my springer collect by 12 rifles. It's not as expensive as it used to be. Thanks for the view and comment Robert!

Great video. I've seeing some reviews saying people are having problems with the air splitter, and are sending them back for repair. But these comments seem to be from 2 to 3 years ago. Do you know if they have fixed this problem? I want one but I can't afford to be sending it back all the time.

Umarex has been shipping redesigned ones as of late. It really depends on when and who you order it from. It may be with having a conversation with the distributor to be sure you will get the updated Air Stripper.

Lovin these video"s! How to you polish the inside of the tube? I am wanting to polish the hammer with 1000 sandpaper like you did on the trigger. Can you use the sandpaper in the tube also? I just don't want to mess up my new gun!
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 4 года назад
Hey there, to polish the tube you want to use a hone of 1000 grit our higher and if you do to have one, make one out of 1500 grit sandpaper, 3/8" wooden dowel, some 1/4" thin foam like that found in pellet tins, hint hint. You cut a slot in the rod to allow the paper to be wound and you introduce foam in between the first revolution of paper on to allow for a compressible snug wall fit into the tube and then chuck up the wooden dowel and hone that tube smooth. DONE!

Thanks for the comment. Please do not interpret this as a defense response as it is not intended to be. My expectation of this $300 rifle was nonexistent. Before I took the rifle out of the box I fully accepted the rifle would be my reasonability to tweak and adjust other than a complete and total failure, which I would have returned and waited for the repaired and improved version. I shared my finding with the community and Umarex through their CONTACT US email as well as phone calls. I never at any point was animated or expecting anything from Umarex than honest truthful communication of what the road of resolve looked like. Instead I got a legalese posting on my video and 12days of non response from the warranty folks as it relates to probe o-rings and cracked barrel shroud muzzle.

@HajimotoProductions 5 лет назад
Hey BG! I still sell tune Gauntlets and they have made some production changes to fix a few things. The issue is production dates. If the rifle was produced before 3/2018 it has a higher chance to exhibit some of the issues that were shown back in November 2017 thru February 2018. Thank you for the view and comment BG!

Haj, How did you polish the inside of the tube? I polished the hammer to a mirror finish and polished the bolt and handle to a mirror finish as well. The bolt and bolt handle was to personalize my Gauntlet for myself, but I now find it glides a lot better in the gun.

Omar we will need to replace it at some point but it is obvious that we will not want to replace it with one they currently make as we will only end up with the same issue again. I think Benjamin Marauder stripper looks like it MAY be the same if so there are plenty of 3rd party air strippers available in the market that are better made. The problem is if the plastic completely fails it will place the stripper in the direct path of the pellet leaving the barrel and could cause some substantial damage to the baffle tube, end cap, and shroud tube. Umarex really needs to get on this one.

Hey Haj, I'm not on Facebook anymore. Did it fit? Thanks, M.
@HajimotoProductions
@HajimotoProductions 6 лет назад
I removed both and compared and the inside diameter of the Marauder shroud is larger so while the barrel outside dimension of 11.15mm is the same or close, the rubber o-ring end of the stripper is much larger in diameter on the Marauder than the Gauntlet. I have notified Umarex and they requested photos and details which i provided. Umarex will have to redesign/remake the strippers using a different material or make it beefier/stronger because if they just send out what is on the rifle, it will only fail again. The solution for me is/was that I designed a replacement of my own in CAD and 3D printed a stronger version. I have provided you with links below to photos of the Marauder to Gauntlet comparison. I will share my designed replacement after I do some more testing. i.imgur.com/yaril8R.jpg i.imgur.com/0EkHA1R.jpg i.imgur.com/sRvklvx.jpg

I was going to d-gas using a new metal d-gas tool it did not work, I could not d, gas.will see if Umarex will help?

I pumped the tank while off the gun and it holds air. I tested where the tank attaches to the gun with soapy water, no bubbles. I guess that leaves the valve.
