That upgrade doesn't seem to difficult to get done , and adds a lot of strength to the area.

Yea brother like I said in the video. Because it’s the easiest to install and most visible suspension part, it’s usually the first thing people buy. But I’m most cases it should be pretty low on the lost unless you actually have a reason to do it. Gotta smith though, it does look cool from behind the car. Especially in combination with the Trick Chassis 9” and all the other red UMI goodies. 😎

I will say this about the reloc bar. From the bit of research I do it also serves as a improvement with the panhard bar, it makes it more parallel to the rear diff, in turn making the movement of the body, when the suspension oscillates more predictable, and more even. If you didn’t use an adjustable Panhard bar, it will still benefit your rear suspension by not allowing the rear diff to move when suspension isn’t really moving due to the extra rigidity. But other than those two explanations, I would say a great video and explanation.

Thanks for watching! Glad this video helped you out!

A Watts link would be better suited. Nice build.

On a road race setup I might agree. And thanks.

I'm confused! How does the upper pan hard bar help keep the rear-end centered when it is mounted to the chassis on both ends? Seems like you could just use the lower pan hard bar?

That’s exactly what I explained in the video

Great simple explanation and I'm glad you were honest about the relocation bar. Seen guys justify it with a Flowmaster catback exhaust 😆. But hey while we're under here I wana ask: do you think you'll switch to rear coilovers or keep springs and shocks?
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 года назад
That’s actually a decision I’m up in the air about. Some of the classes I plan to run in require stock style suspension. So I’m not sure if I’m going to be doing coilovers or just double adjustable shocks yet. But one or the other is coming soon.

You and I really should sit down and compare notes. Our builds are almost twins.

Thanks so I don't need that stuff then, my firebird is lifted and straight pipe xD

Thank you for the info. I am doing a Moser GM 12-bolt install and have all the UMI parts. New rear verable-rate coil springs. I have a 94` Z28 conv with 100,000. I got it in 97` with 9,000 mi. Also, I put on rear air shocks and a hitch for pulling my cycle trailer. If I air up the shocks so the rear-end is a little higher all the time. Should I adjust it at this height. How about pinion angle? Take care. From Sioux City,Iowa.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage Год назад
Raising or lowering the rearend WILL slightly change the pinion angle and where the rearend is centered in the rear of the car. My suggestion would be to set pinion angle and center the rearend with the panhard and LCAs with the car at the height it’ll be used at the most. The small amount of change it will cause if you raise it up every now and again to haul a trailer isn’t worth worrying about in my opinion unless you’re planning to take it on extremely long trips like that. But once the trailer is attached and loaded I’m assuming the final suspension height should end up pretty close to where it would be if the trailer wasn’t attached and you the air suspension was set to normal height anyway. I mean ultimately the goal is for the car to be just as level while pulling the trailer as it is without it, correct?

Does umi say that the passenger side lower bolt on the lower panhard faces the same as the other 2?
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 4 месяца назад
No. It doesn’t matter at all. But that’s the way the other bolts were originally facing so that’s the way I faced the new one.

Would it be the same process for a non adjustable lower panhard bar? I have access to drive on lifts and 4 point lifts at work. I’m on stock ride height, and have non adjustable lower panhard bar and LCA.

Hey, I’m having an issue with an ls swap and just figured I’d ask in case you knew what it was. I have a dbw lq4 from a 2003 suburban, and my car won’t start by itself when cold, I can start it with like 5 seconds of starter fluid then it runs perfectly fine, and once it’s warm it starts faster then I can turn the key. But the second it starts getting cool again it struggles or just won’t start without starter fluid, is this a tune issue with not enough gas when cranking? I have a sloppy stage 2 cam.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 года назад
Most likely cold start enrichment in the tune is off. Or idle airflow since you're running a cam.
@WindowLicker__
@WindowLicker__ 2 года назад
@@BadLuckGarage I believe it was the cold start enrichment. It started just fine last night, i think the ecm adjusted itself and fixed it.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 года назад
@@WindowLicker__ That’s not really how cold start enrichment works brother. The pcm may have dumped a tune of fuel in your long term fuel trims but you need to get it tuned correctly. The pcm can only add or take away so much fuel from the VE table. If you have your LTFTs maxed out and something else goes wrong the pcm won’t enable to add enough fuel to save you.
@WindowLicker__
@WindowLicker__ 2 года назад
@@BadLuckGarage I got a base tune i have yet to have it tuned in person, I was planning on using the base tune until my new rear end gets in, I drove it yesterday for a while and it ran really well.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 года назад
@@WindowLicker__ A base tune is just meant to get to you the tuner brother. It’s probably running well because the pcm has compensated at part throttle but you’re fuel trims may be maxed out one direction or the other. The stock pcm also has zero ability to compensate fueling at WOT which could have you running very lean or very rich when you floor it. Neither is good. My advice is don’t get in it or drive it anymore than you have to until you have it tuned properly.

Happens a lot now days. I just hate seeing people waste money on things they don’t need when they could be spending on thing to actually improve their cars performance instead.
