In this video I install UMI Performance bolt on Subframe connectors on my 2002 Camaro SS Convertible. We finally get long overdue subframe connectors installed on my Camaro. The UMI subframe connectors fit perfectly and were fairly easy to install.

I have these on my 95 Z28 Convertible with tubular trailing arms and panhard rod and front shock tower brace. Big improvement in reducing chassis flex and improving overall handling. Highly recommend this modification for 3rd and 4th gen F-body convertibles! Thanks for sharing this video!

They look great. Can’t wait to see how much a difference it made with handling and laying the power down 🔥

Yeah I am hoping they help and that they don't add any noise to the car.

I'm glad I found this video...all the other videos I watched regarding subframe connectors on the 4th gen camaros were all done with hardtops/t-tops. I took my'99 Camaro convertible to a supposedly certified mechanic and he told me that I wasted my money on the UMI connectors because the car does not need them (it really does--it flexes just hitting bumps and ruts in the road). He said that there are some extra reinforcements the convertibles got versus the hardtops (some 'X' members underneath) but those stupid things are too thin and really don't do anything. At speed, especially on the freeway, the cowl and the A pillars shake and shimmy side to side and the whole car shudders. I really don't see where the connectors fit underneath, but if this guy did them to his convertible, I figure it should work for mine (besides, UMI would not have sold them if they weren't meant to be used on this car. Wish me luck. I am going to another guy who said he will add them on for me.

Yeah just make sure you get the ones made for the convertible.I ordered the wrong ones the first time (they were for the coup and T-top cars)The connectors for the convertible are different. And they do help.Weld in ones would be the best but I didn't want to be welding in my car.Good luck.

i was thinking the same thing. Bolt in seems like the way to go for ease of installation and the ability to remove them whenever you please. Great video

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Can always weld them in the future if I feel it will help.

If you had the car on a lift, would that eliminate the problem you had with the car shifting and lining up the holes?

I am not sure, Never had the luxury of a lift.lol. Probably the weight of everything hanging down it would probably shift a little but would be alot easier to shove everything back into place. But you would still need the car back on the ground before torqing all the bolts because they say the car needs to be resting under it's full weight on level ground before torqing the bolts. But definitely everything is easier when working with a lift.
