Prof. Haithcock (who is retiring soon) stopped beating time about 30 seconds from the end. The band was that locked in and arguably didn't need him LOL.

Playing this in band right now. Sounds really cool but the parts are awful. Trumpets have 2 pages of Es. Piccolo 2 plays just glissando and rests the entire time. Other woodwind parts are the same thing over and over and over. Not a piece I’d even play with a band unless we could put it together quickly. Rehearsing this piece is so boring it makes me hate it.

I play the xylophone on this song and I can confirm that he was correct and did not end early.
