UMK3 is very unforgiving. I find the AI incredibly hard, with one loophole, that being Cyber Smoke. So here is a quick playthrough beaten in two lives with Stryker and Smoke. Enjoy!
I remember discovering the smoke exploit way back... thought I was a god... good times... keep on bringin that nostalgic mk awesomeness man... cheers from australia.
Don’t worry about it; this is a complement really as your channel is gaining popularity. It’s not like anyone under 18 can’t just make a fake account to watch these videos. Just mark your videos 18 and keep posting. People will keep watching.
Love watching/listening to your vids on the fitness bike. I was born in '87, and I was obsessed with MK as a kid, as I think a lot of us were. Your videos take me back to '96 and posting up at the MK II machine at the local skating rink.
You earned my subscription. Mortal Kombat is one of the hardest fighting games to learn that I have ever played. Especially compared to Street Fighter.
8:00 ha, we were all well aware at this point of the AI's capacity to cheat but who could've guessed that it also possessed a sense of humor by choosing to have Sonya team up with Kano to go up against you.
I saw a MK2 video of you earlier today finishing it with Johnny Cage, and i was gonna say, if you are able to do it on UMK3 you are forever a legend to me.
I grew up in the 90s and gotta say, I really love this camera angle, it brings back memories of the arcades and pizza parlors I used to go to. Another great video.
Ive beaten the game with Scorpion, Ermac, I think Human smoke, and that's it. Jade is absolutely the hardest CPU in the game from what I remember (it's been years) and I think it's a known fact honestly. The Cyborg characters can be brutal in later stages too. I think Mileena was easily the hardest CPU in MK2 if you tried to beat it without cheese strats.
I have been binge watching your MK videos and I want to say you are not only bringing the nostalgia back to me when I was a kid playing/watching at the Arcade, but you are far better at these games than I ever was. Please keep up the good work! 👍
I miss playing these games. I wish NRS would release a arcade collection on modern consoles. I’d love it for my Xbox 1, ps4, and it would be perfect for the Switch. Especially if we could get some online play
On my arcade 1up the ai kicks in on lvl 4 on umk3 ,smoke and cyrax are my go to to beat the game ,using the exploit of course ,other than that it’s luck or the endless credits that get me the ending of the other characters, been playing MK games since my youth, and only just found out about human smoke…yes I’m old…lol..love ya videos ,cheers from australia
Sindel is also a good choice to use to beat the CPU (in one credit too). If you can get them captured into her Scream, do her HK, HP, d+HP, d+HP, jumpkick (LK or HK) combo (basically her regular combo but avoiding doing the air fireball ender). It'll do 34% and position you perfectly to do a Scream on top of the CPU waking up, who will always get caught again. If you do the air fireball ender, you get 40% but position them out of range, thus it's best to skip. Repeat twice more for round victory. You can manipulate them to jumping or running into her Scream by spitting an air fireball at them too (if you're stuck in the CPU "dance back and forth" distance). At the Endurance rounds, do the same Scream strategy, but make sure to jump backwards as you defeat the 1st/2nd opponents as the next one comes in. They'll jump again at you when they land right into a Scream - then pattern repeat.
I'm a late 2000s kid, and I simply cannot comprehend why people got so bent out of shape over a few splatters of blood, there were so many other actually important issues and people were getting upset at some game.
I thought I'd never see you playing UMK3, again I love your videos, I was playing the real thing at my local arcade bar, to take a break from arcade 1up, don't get me wrong, I have fun on my arcade 1up, but of course it's not the same thrill as playing the real thing!
I hear that. There’s an original UMK3 at an arcade near my house with a big CRT monitor and something about playing it just feels different. The controls are more responsive cause of the Happ sticks and buttons and you can’t replace that gritty look on screen either. It’s awesome.
I was thinking about getting the Arcade1up mk cab during Christmas time. This guy has pretty much made the decision easy lol. Keep up the good work I can’t wait to get one!
I like how you make the necessary commentary on the game while giving a quick direction on how to do fatalities and special interactions in each installment. Props to you, keep it up! UMK3 is indeed a nightmare. Speedrunners are usually the only people I've seen manage to 1CC the game, most using HPT but can also do NMEs with specific characters, however I can't seem to mimic their gameplay just yet.
@@BushyStallion 🤣🤣 that's how I felt when I heard them at first. HPT is high punch trick, you can loop enemies that way with Smoke after you do his rope move, but you have to keep them in place with low punch first. 1CC is one credit clear, meaning you don't die, and NME is no major exploits (such as high punch trick and various others).
One guy I can recommend to watch his videos with speedrunning the bosses is Tenka. Dude's insanely good at the game and I learnt a few things watching him.
one of those arcade fighting games that you could play endlessly on one credit. after passing shao, you chose the symbols so that they would give a continuation and voila
Man this gives me memories back to the arcades in the 90s. I used to spam that smoke technique you're using. It also works as scorpion and human smoke... Jump kick back, teleport punch, spear, combo then repeat. Timing wise I always found it a bit harder to pull off with scorpion/human smoke compared to regular smoke
Too bad about being age restricted. Its kinda ironic this was one of the games that spurred the initial outrage about kids being exposed to violent video games and the creation of the ESRB. Played me the crap outta some MK in Jr. High when it first hit arcades and I turned out fine! It is pretty comical and cartoonish in retrospect. Blowing someone up and there being 3 perfectly clean rib cages falling from the sky...
Congratulations on your channel. Hopefully there's enough of us 90's kids that share your love and nostalgia for MK and all the other arcade classics to keep the channel going. I picked up Ultimate MK for the Saturn and when I played it, I was terrible at it. Began wondering if it was because of my age and skill deterioration 😂. Having you aknowledge the difficult AI of this game has inspired me to give it another go. Now I have some weekend plans.
I forget the exact details and I wasn't able to find the guide again but the trick involves getting a certain distance from your opponent and moving forward and backward repeatedly. While at this "neutral distance" the A.I. will start copying your movements. Jump and the A.I. will always throw a projectile. Block, duck, or teleport and then run up and do a combo. The Trenternet Gaming has a nice RU-vid video that covers the basics.
Good afternoon, Darryl Tsung06. Back when this came out in 1996, everyone (including myself) would either play with Stryker of Kabal (sometymes "modern" Sub-Zero) my local pizza joint in The Bronx because of it was a tad easy to play with them so I do understand your point. As for Jade, she is totally broken because she could've easily been a top boss in the game. If you did not face her first or second up the ladder, you could forget it if she's further up! Also, UMK3 now introduced what you call "Brutalities" in which you must successfully hit eleven buttons in order to pull it off - - something to this day that's STILL can be incredibly hard to do. Otherwise, be careful with complying to their standards of what YT instructs you in terms of what they feels viable. A couple of my friends here on YT had their channels defunct due to what YT felt were violated. Other than that, I like your videos.
Thanks for your words and also your experiences with the game. Whatever happens with this channel is fine with me I never planned any of this, the views and subscribers, so I’ll just keep doing it and if I need to put that it’s not for kids then it’s no big deal. Thanks again for the comment 👊🏼
I miss the freer days of RU-vid. All these restrictions and warnings spoil the fun, especially for us guys in our 30s and 40s who remember the wild-west internet days. Love your channel btw, you're far better at Mortal Kombat than I ever was.
Thanks Keele I appreciate it.. turns out all I have to do is label the videos “not recommended for kids” and they’ll let a lot slide that way, the 18 and over age restriction is more for the newer MK games apparently, but I learned all that over time after that video was posted.
Awesome playthrough. Did you know the source code for MK2 was recently leaked? People can see moves, fatalities, and even a different look for Kintaro that never made it into game because of the limited space they had at the time. It's wild. Can't wait for some more live streams.
So freezing an enemy and shattering them is to violent but MK9’s Kung can throw his hat into the ground and drag the victim by the legs to the blade and cutting him/her from the neither reigns to the head is okay?.
You know, there is a cool remake of the classic MK games. Search up Mortal Kombat Komplete Mugen. Its basically a remake of classics with more moves, better fatalities, better graphics, etc. It's really awesome and gives the classics the glory they deserve. Just shows what fans can do for the community.
yeah man, stryker has sweet moves , doesn't feel stiff, i always found funny that shao always explodes when he is defeated, and later he papalatine´s his way back
Only on youtube can you find restrictions against showing kids video games but feel free to teach them ideologies and sexual concepts well before puberty. 😂
uppercut shao kahn afetr you use the spear, dont combo and keep repeat. You can also run to him and upper cut and repeat cause he takes his time getting up
0:52 You got to be kidding me... this is nothing compared to today's standards. Fuck YT. 5:38 Daaaamn son, you weren't kidding with how hard the game gets. I only managed to finish this game on the Genesis by changing the difficult to the easiest setting and then cheesing my way through it. No strategy at all. On an unrelated note, I see that you got an increasing number of subs. I'm so happy for you!
It is what it is, I suppose it’s ok regardless cause I’m pretty sure it’s mostly middle aged people watching anyways lol and yeah the subs went crazy this week and I have no idea how or why lol but it’s been a fun week seeing all the comments and support. It’s overwhelming. 👊🏼
This comment just sparked my memory and I remember the exact box it’s in in the garage. The MK Trilogy for PlayStation 1. I’ll try to make this happen.
Yea man take your time , I remember me n my day 1s use to play trilogy all night sleep overs and ish 😂 doing the old school cheat codes for the fatalities and playing with chameleon 😂😂 I know you remember
Reptile is fun with this one. I like doing a slow Forceball, follow up with a fast one, then either uppercut or jump kick and slide. Can also cheese with the acid spit, as long as it isn’t Liu Kang or anyone that can teleport.
Another combo you can do is jump toward them, and when they couch ready to uppercut you, do the teleport. Also for some variety, you can also jump kick and aerial throw them for a good combo after the teleport.
8:11 A friend lent me this game for a couple of days back in 1996, and I used to do that combo, Forward, Forward, A, Back, Back, B, and holding Forward, Y, Y, A, X, B. I've barely played this game since, but often time when I hold a controller during idle times, I perform those inputs.
Back in the days I would beat all towers with Scorpion. Jump and jump until you can hit the computer with a combo or a kick, then low sweep, they will auto jump backwards, then spear, combo, low sweep and repeat 😊
You are correct about the AI. However, if you continue, it’ll usually let you go past the next round, then it ramps up the difficulty again. But every time you continue, that first fight, the AI takes a break and lets you go by. It takes a lot of continuing that way, but the AI thinks it’s eating your quarters. I find the first Mortal Kombat game is this way as well. The only one that doesn’t do this is MK2.
There is an umk3 arcade machine at the bar near my house and after a few beers I'll start challenging anyone I see on the cabinet lol, most of the time I win but a few times I get rocked. Really good classic MK players are more common than you'd think hahaha
what my really big question is, why does anything on youtube bother anyone under 18, you literally need to be 18 to have a RU-vid account, and there is literally a kids section of its own.
@@billb8385 pretty sure you have to be 18 to make a basic google account, in turn, if you make a normal/basic youtube account im pretty sure you need to 18
I used virtually the exact method since it's release. You can roundhouse kick after the teleport punch into a spear/combo too. Then when you get to Shoa Khan, lose and use human Smoke or Scorpion to finish him off. I have always been envious of Ermacs gameplay but could never learn the tech. Maybe that's what I'll do.
