UMV98 - An insight into my Cancer treatment

Here’s a little insight into both Chemo and Radiotherapy treatments that I do. The staff at the hospital are always so lovely and helpful but I’ve had to have a few awkward conversations lately and have been given some unusual items to help me.

I passed you in Hull coming out of radiotherapy. It was my last one because I am on palliative care. So short date for me. Be positive you will get to the end. Ring that bell

Hi Mandy, I'm not sure how unique this is but, i suspect that a lot of people on their cancer journey will have been watching your video in the unit and either thinking " thats what happened to me" to their families, or thinking, "so now I've seen that machine, I'm no longer scared", and much more besides. You're one of those special people doing special things that other people often wonder about, and hoping perhaps to be should the opportunity arise. Im very proud of you and of John. Take care. 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦

This is SO informative, Mandy! I think that a link to your videos should be part and parcel of the information packs that newly diagnosed people are given! Taking away the mystery helps in a big way to take away the fear. Thanks for doing this. I hope your treatment continues smoothly, and that you'll soon be fit as a flea. xx

Thanks Mandy for giving us the opportunity to see what happens during these procedures. It's not something that is given enough public insight so it is much appreciated that you managed to take us along with you. Lovely to see you doing so well, hoping it stays that way now til you get to ring that bell🙏 Take care.

My mother in law got blood cancer (one of those bad ones...), but luckily there was this genius who found a new treatment. She lasted for 18 more years! Her daughter sang at the Nobel Party in the Blue Hall (Stckholm), and the Laurate who invented her medicine was one of the Laurates present. It was special. Every daily dose cost £5000, ish. But this is Sweden, so it was like your NHS, it was free. There's a moral to this story, and people with healthcare know what I'm talking about. Lots of well wishings from my family to yours!

Oh joy…..how lovely to get to discuss your bits with everyone. Just leave your dignity at the door Mandy and pick it up on the way out. You seem a no nonsense person, but still, it must make your eyes pop a bit. Brachytherapy, I think, is what my mother had many years ago for a tumour in her eye post surgery. Kept her eye and her sight so it was a saviour for her as it will be for you. 🤗

Oh WOW! the noise in Chemo would drive me mad! I thought the Radiotherapy would be the noisy bit - though it may also be very noisy like the MRI machine. Thanks for showing us. Glad you are almost through all of the treatment and can begin to see an end to all the hospital visits. I was reading an article about how they are considering re-classifying Menopause as a neurological condition due to the affects on the brain of various hormone and other chemical changes it causes - If I can send it to you in a DM I will.

Mandy, you are truly inspirational. Not only are you going through this but you are taking us all with you. I lost my mum to cancer over 15 years ago and I had no idea what she had to go through so being able to feel like I am on this journey with you is providing me with some closure that she was looked after as best she could be! How fabulous are the people who are looking after you and allowing you to share some insight into your journey. High five brave lady!

👍 another excellent video, Mandy 👌. I'm sure this will help many others. When I was going through my treatments of surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and 10 years of medication with horrible side effects (I had 2 primary cancers diagnosed within a 9 month period), there were very few videos available, but at least there were online support groups where questions could be asked. I think it's great that you and others are posting videos about their cancer journeys. All the best to both yourself and John ❤

I first came across you and John as I follow Louise and Emily(camper vibe) and watched the video of you lot sledging, where John was mad enough to sledge down that hill😊 your all such lovely people. I think it's great that you are videoing the cancer machines as it shows how they work. My mum unfortunately died of cancer 32 years ago all we saw was her going to hospital we didn't get told by our parents what it was and luckily treatment has developed since then. Just keep doing what your doing as information is very helpful. Have a lovely weekend both of you🥰

I have to say that you're an inspiration to all those going through the same or simular. I'm sure at times you feel worn out, but your positive mental attitude shines through Mandy. You seem to be taking it day by day and the results show improvement due to your ability to be strong and to continue fighting. Your Team around you prove they care by asking the awkward questions, which is a good thing. Stay strong Mandy, and keep smiling as always... John x
