Justin Wong and ChrisG, always the finalist at almost every majors. Every time i watch a Grand Final match, ChrisG and Justin Wong's names are there for most of the time.
That's not where the skill lies. That's just muscle memory. The skill is being able to properly predict you opponents movements and apply those fireballs properly, zone effectively, and knowing when to rushdown. That's the skill part.
(Soul Fist->Flight Cancel->Soul Fist->Flight Cancel) you can repeat again after you hit the ground. People say Morrigan is cheap because of that but shooting off those projectiles actually take skill as doing those moves in a quick session requires alot of movement.
I like how every video I see of Justin, he has more or less a brand new team. Yet every ChrisG video... Oh. Morrigan and Doom straight out. We haven't seen that since 2 hours ago...
Well one thing I'm happy about is Chris G using her in tournament play because in MVC3 she was never in tournament play there may have been one or 2 but not frequently OR winning.
Doesn't change the fact that it was okay for him to admit defeat. I don't see the problem. He didn't jerk out his stick and get mad. He was disappointed, but he showed respect to Justin.
When during an ill-timed assist call you and your assist gets picked up and juggled and the assist has no way to escape as long as the combo isn't dropped. MarlinPie prefers to call it the two-for-one special
All very true. Chris g has expanded upon his strategy adding rush down tactics making it very hard to beat him. Only a few highly skilled players can compete with him (i.e. Combofiend, J wong, Filipino Champ etc). I was only pointing out in your post where you say he hardly manges to win. He has a handful of majors under his belt and a few runner up. I was only stating that he places very high in majors if not win which is very difficult to do.
I totally understand the feeling, and have been there myself, but you have to show your respect to the other player who kept their nerves intact and came up with the win because of your mistake. Play until the KO.
To be fair, he only had 14 seconds left with no assist, no x-factor and only Morrigan. Morrigan is, as you know, not an offensive character and Chris G mainly uses him for chip.
Does anyone here not notice that when Chris G quit there was only 12 seconds left on the clock? Even if Justin let go of the controller there's no way he would have enough time to win.
All you can get from watching streams and videos is an impression of players, not too much who they really are. The fact he seems salty has more to do with the fact that he is an ambitious player who wants to win. Some people don't take losses as well as others. There's nothing wrong about that. At least he doesn't seem to be popping off and disrespecting people after winning. Maybe he's a really nice guy if you get to know him better. It's difficult to judge someone's attitude just from videos.
You can argue that in a major, you should play till the timer says 00, but Morrigan without X-Factor against 1 full HP and 2 1/2 HP characters with only 13 Marvel seconds left wasn't gonna come back. Two characters dying would take 1-2 Marvel seconds, not including the time it takes to do the combo + the time it takes for supers to finish. Plus, Justin could have just back jumped for 13 seconds and Chris G still would have lost.
It wasn't a tag to save his character. He was hoping the Doom super would hit his doom mid air so he can get a tech away. He did it too early and it turned into a free combo.
for those saying that it was OK for chris G to ragequit and be salty, please look at match #3 where justin basically was on the same position but with a much weaker character Frank and it was so obvious he wasnt gonna make a comeback on ChrisG but did he give up and just stopped moving?.....nope
"Just like that - Justin takes it!" Wow, I was thinking Justin was coming from losers finals because the video was so long. Then, I see Justin get up and he won the whole thing because he was actually coming from winners finals. lol Good job J!
Justin should have used this team at Evo, I feel like its much stronger than his Wolv/Storm/Akuma team. Not to mention It seems to play much better against Chris G's team.
JWong has won events using Spider-Man and Iron Fist. Think about that while you lol it up with your Zero/Dante/Vergil ezmode team. He picked up this team and in less than a month was winning events with it. Haters gonna hate.
I didn't make the OP, I'm just throwing out my two cents. I think ChrisG's an amazing player, but I'm glad to see his Morrigan gimmick coming to an end. I can appreciate zoning, I just can't respect a player who's better than that resorting to it as the grand strategy. From the rise of Vergil and his difficulties over the past events (of which there were numerous), it's clear that his current strategy just won't cut it for Evo. Especially not if Justin Wong can best him with a lame Frank West.
Well if you think about it, if you only have Morrigan left who is a low damage, very technical character against a whole 3 person team, and the person using that team knows how to lock while the timer is at under 20 seconds, there's pretty much no hope. Justin would have just run away and Chris couldn't have done anything about it.
He was much more better then this back in 2011 vanilla marvel 3, he knew how to take a lose and I think he even gave a handshake to a few people. He was one of my favorite players, but now i'd place him in like 8 or 9...
13 seconds wouldn't have been enough to even drain the remaining characters health if JWong just stopped playing. There was no way Chris could have won that, there just wasn't enough time.
Why didn't ChrisG activited Devil Trigger + Spiral Swords at the end of the last match? Could have made a comeback like this, since he would recover health and also go for mixups D: Also, shouldn't have done that, giving up a match isn't gonna get you anywhere.
Justin went from getting blown up with a new team at ECT to taking it out over ChrisG with what I believe most would consider a beyond questionable team. ChrisG's strategy is beyond explored and people have working counters in place for them. Doesn't really matter where he's seeded, he's going to have to pull out something new at Evo, because I doubt his air throws are going to carry him so far.
jwong had 56 secs with Frank w. 4 meters. compared to 35 seconds with morrigan 3 meters. Similiar but that 20 seconds makes a big difference when fighting against vergil's long combos. not to mention chris g's xfactor burned out during the vergil combo. Chris G's gameplan with morrigan is chip damage. Morrigian's chip damage couldnt have killed 3 chars with no xfactor. its not a ragequit cause he didnt get up and leave he just decided to stop and start thinking of what to do in the next game
All the UMVC3 matches have the same recurring characters, someone chooses Dr Doom, the other Vergil, maybe also Morrigan, in this case all of them and then some.
Justin doesnt give up even if he is 1 against 3 full health characters...compared to NYChrisG which his high sodium levels doesnt allow him to continue once is 1 against 3.
@blee5252 Yipes has a sick vergil but to consider him the best, u gotta consider the japanese marvel players too like Potengel, Kubo and Chou they too have very sick vergils
Morrigans most damaging no lvl 3 no assist no X-factor combo does about 680k and thats if you hit all 6 soulfists, both shadow blade cancels and get max mashable damage from the missile hyper and get the DP super OTG or where in Shadow illusion mode., that comeback was not happening.
Didn't I JUST SAY that his resume was more impressive than his skill level? Like, literally in the comment you replied to? Jesus. ChrisG is a good player, but there are at least 7 or 8 players that are flat-out better than he is. I don't give a shit what place he got at EVO. Viscant won last year, and I don't think he's won a match since then, much less an event.
I'll assume "Playtomorrow" means either he'll play you "tomorrow", or give you a rematch "tomorrow". Honestly, I've played against both types in the types of games I play. Ragequitting was always horrible because I couldn't test teams, but I have one particular person who will only ever play me once with extremely cheap tactics and then won't rematch me for a while, but tell everyone how badly he beat me. Honestly, they're both bad. Which is worse depends on who you are.
Yeah James Chen, it's a TOTAL SHOCKER that the best player in the world won the event. I AM IN SHOCK. NO REALLY. ChrisG is scrubbing it up as usual. No surprises.
Hm, i thought he was gonna do the kabuto escape when I first saw it, but then when he raw tagged I was like WTF? yes, he did it too early and I think that wasn't even going to chip morrigan out in the first place either too.
