The initial missile will OTG, the reason for the dash after the missile comes out I'm pretty sure is to ensure he connects the first TK H+L (Tiger knee) through out the Doom assist. Sequence with Doom assist: Call assist, Dash*, TK H+L > Missiles coming down bouncing target up > S > TK H+L > BM (SUPER)
I can't seem to get the timing of the combo that starts at 5:52. When i zipline in with S, I can't seem to jump and H fast enough since they fall out really fast, and here when i watch the vid, you seem to catch them higher in the air with your zipline is there something you're doing here that i may have mistimed? the qcf m height?
After you do a special in the air knocking the down and do the OTG grapple, how do you continue the combo? I try zip downward and do the piercer but it never connects
would you mind please providing some notion for a few of the combos? I have a hard time telling the difference between between grapple and unscaled up grab into L and some difficulty setting it up due to the first problem. Sorry for being a noob :(, but a little notion would...
@reaper578 S can't normally be cancelled but going to uf puts you into pre-jump frames and then makes you jump. The pre-jump frames are there to keep you from just holding ub to get out of any high low mixup since they are vulnerable to lows. The interesting thing is that pre-jump frames also happen to be cancelable so it's a bit of a loophole. Capcom is most definitely aware, but it adds some much needed technique to Marvel so they leave it in.
@trunx762 You have to jump cancel it. After you connect the S cancel into d,df,f,uf+H. The upforward part will start a jump which can be canceled into special moves.
How do you shoot the up grapple and hit the opponent? I tried to jump cancel it and it would always just shoot straight up in front of the opponent and miss.
@DaAnimekid Nah, for that one I jumped straight up to about max normal jump height before doing the OTG qcf M. That's not a tiger knee motion. It also helps a little to let Spencer bounce back a little higher after the grapple connects so that you're not quite as close to the ground after the zipline (making it easier to connect the j.S).
@ShakKermeister I agree it's a bit much, but you also have to factor in how easily he can open people up. Compared to the very top tier, he can't really compete in that regard and it's not like TOD's are in short supply in Ultimate. I don't think it would matter all that much if they lowered it because he would still be killing most of the cast in 1 combo. I guess a good compromise would be setting his minimum scaling to 20% (it's 10% now) and making vertical grapples scale properly.
@CrouchStrong I feel like a total douche asking for this but could you maybe try making some solo spencer combos that are still efficient? I'm really sorry considering how much effort was put into this and how nice it is but I'm new to MvC and I'm having a real hard time making efficient spencer combos and making good use of his slant shot assist. I'm running Iron Fist (starter) Hawkeye anchor and Spencer as backup. I just want my entire team to hit really hard but I can't find good team combos.
the hidden missiles is the only assist with 2 properties: the missiles go up and hit the opponent later causing also an otg, and.... the very beggining of the hidden missiles still otg´s but the opponent has to be cornered or the assist must be placed right before a fallen character.... I hope it is not too late for answering this.
@guamcards Maybe very early in the combo, but probably not. You'd need something that causes a spinning knockdown. There are a few other assists you can use to get more vertical grapples though. Ammy Cold Star, Chris grenade (land mine), Thor Mighty Smash, Strider Vajra (I think), Iron Man Smart Bombs, She Hulk Torpedo Wesker Samurai Edge, Deadpool Katana Rama, Hulk Gamma Wave, Sentinel Rocket Punch . . . I'm sure there are more.

@CrouchStrong You're right about the opening thing and I've been doing this combos lately and you know its really hard to put them on,so I feel it more fare now. The only weird thing is his vertical grapple unscaling crazy damage,but what the hell, Spencer can get away with that one just because he is not the only one with weird things going on.
Now that Wire Grapple is hyper cancel-able, it IS pretty broken. The only good thing is that to max the damage you have to use otg assists which cripples your mobility options.
Well, that combo mostly works on larger/heavy characters. I think the most important part however is to super jump before doing the OTG grapple. You'll get the super jump version of S which causes more hitstun than the normal jump version and you should be a little higher as well so that you can fit in the attack before landing. Really though, you should just learn the GX loop. This combo is a little outdated since it's far more difficult and actually does slightly less damage.
Now more than ever it should be fairly apparent that Spencer is a sub par anchor. Combofiend himself has switched up his team order on more than one occasion. He usually plays Spencer in the second slot now anyway.
@CptOverkill You can just use a beam assist and missiles. You'll only be doing marginally less damage. It's still gross and ridiculous. Task and Hawkeye also work quite nicely with Doom. Weasel shot would probably also work in a pinch,

I might have of said yes in Vanilla, but they left it in UMvC3 while taking away unscaled webthrows from Spiderman so who knows. Then again, spidey did 150k unscaled and could cancel into super (Spencer couldn't do this in Vanilla); so I'd say webthrow was more broken than grapples in Vanilla. In UMvC maybe they didn't realize Spencer true damage potential? I expect them to nerf it with the coming patch, but at the same time I think it's undeserved in light of what the rest of the top can do.
@guamcards Yeah, I saw your vid. Not bad, but it's working because your saving the ground bounce so that only the second hit of shield slash hits. If you just did his regular combos with an early Bionic bomber and only used Doom I'm pretty sure you could get more damage with just the one assist. Just a tip.
crouchstrong needs hype. This guy knows his shit. Have already incorporated at least one variation of each of his B&B and throw combos, however, i cannot get how you combo after the overhead for full screen to corner. For the life of me i cant find how you dash to catch up to them after the wallbounce
Want a rundown of other assists that provide the 80ks? Most teams run with 1 assist to get in and one assist to provide mixup. 80% of those assists also combo extend for the cast. Very specific? Pssh.. as if this video was focused around the assists anyway. corner to corners, off command and air grabs, and ease of use. Bionic basics.

I just picked up spencer, he works really good with Chris especially his diagonal grapple assist... I only been using him for less than a week and I feel this character is easily top 5 and I am bad with him
Tech and swag are thrown around all too much. Definitely, more people need to find their own team synergy. That's part of what makes marvel so fun and awesome. If you can style you better make sure you can do the basics or you just look like an ass. Thank you Duckstrong for the vid. I used it plenty as a template for when I play Spencer.
mfw around 240k of these combos is from the unscaled L followup from grapples, and spidey's webthrow got nerfed by being scaled in combos...oh well, at least wesker was not involved in this.
Am I the only one that thinks Jill is overpowered? She has an invincible level 1 hyper, and invincible move "Summersault", can jump cancel the invincible move and can feral cancel all of her openings. I want her patched.
sentinel, wesker, viper, she hulk, dr doom, hulk, haggar, nova, thor, amaterasu, vergil (hell of a team), dante, p. wright( the dog or the paper assists).
I'm having a hard time creating my own basic combo. This is the first video I've watched cause I'm kind of at a block. I'm up to about 430,000 in damage at about 20 hits. But how people get this good is beyond me. lol
