Professor Rashid Khalid has always been a hero of mine, like many Palestinians of any political claim, he has seen many older members of his extended family, & many friends face exile abroad as punishment from successive governments in Israel, just for reaching any prominent level in Palestinian politics! either that or many have faced assassination. I have just finished reading Professor Rashid Khalid's book 'The 100 Years' War on Palestine' part autobiography, part history, it is beautifully written.

Last Spring a video was produced at a church in Gaza City that was built over 800 years ago. The members of that congregation were celebrating Palm Sunday. There is another video on RU-vid featuring the pastor of Gaza Baptist Church, who was sharing the Gospel of Christ with the people of Gaza. Why have these people been ignored by most Christians in the U.S. ? Who bombed the King David Hotel during 1946, which killed 91 people? Seventeen of those murdered were Orthodox Jews. How was the man who planned the bombing punished for the murder of 91 people? Watch the RU-vid film “The Stones Cry Out”, which reveals the thousands of Christians removed from their homes in Palestine at gunpoint during 1948. Why do many Christians not know about this removal? Read the book “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” by Israeli Historian Ilan Pape, who used official Israeli documents to reveal the removal of 1948.

I especially like Professor Khalili's comment that the UN was not created to be a protection of the interests of the great powers, but of peace, just treatment, and international law.

Professor Khalidi‘s authority on the history of Palestine is testimony of an egregious injustice, an injustice even magnified and made ever more legitimate since the lecture was given in November 2017, to the Palestinian people. Yet where is the UN now, in March 2024? What is its role, let alone its mandate for a people absolutely denied any form of self determination? This lecture illustrates the deep, apocalyptic hole dug by the 2017 Balfour Declaration. An excellent history lesson to seek a long overdue elaboration and revelation of historic facts and their subsequent political developments.

Erm, while I am in agreement and appreciate this overall, at one point I had to ask myself "is Professor Rashid Khalidi living on a different planet?" when he spoke of UK Labour. I was a member of UK labour for 14 years and a voter of it for 21 years my friend, I can tell you now, only 4 of those years did the party ever honestly give much of a crap about the fate of poor brown people far away and that was during the tenure of Jeremy Corbyn who unlike the present leader would not have waited for 5 months and 30,000+ murdered civilians plus approval from US masters and donors to alter position and call for a ceasefire. The Labour party machinery today is the most UNPRINCIPLED barbaric corrupt malevolent and racist entity it has ever been in its history with various parts of its executive more resembling a UK branch of Likud. They are a party that is on record via Starmers lips as promising a continuation of Tory domestic economic and foreign policy if/when they win and Starmer has reaffirmed multiple bloody times he is an outright committed Zionist and has shown so by putting their interests before the best interest of party and nation rampantly throughout his tenure so I have absolutely no idea what kind of a fantasy land Professor Khalidi is living in to believe differently on that matter. UK Labour today is an absolute horror show.

The occupation began prior to 1948 not just 1967. Confiscations of additional lands prior to statehood should be properly and justly addressed.

The British owes apology to all people of the world for the crimes they have committed around the world and created problems between countries and nations.

It still baffles me how and why Arabs partnered with British to fight against the Ottomans for their independence. Brits never returned someone's freedom until they are dead. The Turks already knew they cannot hold the region and I wouldn't surprise if Arabs and Turks could fight together against Europeans and then declare independence of these Arab countries. That was a very short sighted decision by all the Arab countries who suffered deeply under the European colonialism.

A crucial element that must be clarified about ownership of that land, is whether the story in the bible for which there is no concrete evidence of support should be accepted in determining ownership of the land of Palestine. What happened to possession is 9/10 of law.

Glad this showed up on my phone today. (Although I already know most of the history relating to the Balfour Declaration (Ralph Wilde's excellent lecture to the ICJ, I also am aware of). It would be wonderful were this lecture given to the UK government and the US. It should also include Ralph Wilde's speak along with it, to point to the legalities involved. I also have to say that Balfour may/may not have talked about rejected Jewish refugees to England. They history shows how they welcomed in massive numbers the Jewish refugees. e.g.. in Leeds.Thanks.

Britain and the powers must own their mistakes and revert them at whatever cost. This will not go away, there is no two state solution, there is no middle ground. Only a one state Palestine is viable within which all of its citizens of any religion must have absolutely equal rights. This can only be achieved through an abject meaningful apology alongside reparations to the indigenous Palestinians in the double figure $Trillions. This or incessant never ending war which will of course lead to a nuclear one affecting us all.
