Unable to adjust hight on HSD coilovers

In this video, I'll be sharing my experience with trying to adjust the height on my HSD coilovers for my 2006 Mini Cooper R53 JCW Chili Red. Unfortunately, the coilovers were seized, making it impossible to adjust the height. I'll be discussing the potential causes of seized coilovers and sharing some tips for preventing this issue in the future. Quick update spent six hours yesterday night swapping out these coil overs put the original used but in decent condition John Cooper Works package back on struts and springs. Now sits a little bit lower looks amazing and the drive is beautiful. It’s solid, but not annoying. the right way to upgrade the suspension on these cars especially if you have lowering springs and shocks is not to get super stiff coil overs go invest in some really good sway bars maybe some wheels with a slightly wider offset and enjoy you’ll have a little truck monster.

Brother you don't unlock the top rings then U can turn the coilover down by turning the top ring which will turn the thread down or turning up on the middle ring which will turn the thread out of the base.

Hi Adam, thanks for the comment, The top ring does not adjust hieght as it does on my KW v3 the only way to adjust hieght on this one is the bottom ring and due to maybe the age of the coilover it was siezed so was not able to move it. I ended up just removing the coilovers and putting back OEM Mini JCW suspension kit. The car handles a lot better now and the ride is not as harsh.

@@3CarOneGarage no no no I worded it wrong sorry. You use the spring preload locking rings locked together to spin the thread into or out of the base. Otherwise if you losen all the rings you have nothing to hold the shaft to spin it like U found.

Thanks Adam I tried that to at the time. I sold those coilovers and looking for a new set. I'm wondering if Air suspension would be a smart thing to do this was I can lift it whenever I want for speedbumps etc.. or just stick with a good set of coilovers. Will post some more vids for progress :)

@bilalh5979 air suspensions will be good for you if you want that stance look or just drastically mod the cars height on the fly. I have than hsd set. Are they harsh? Yah. They're meant for the track, not rly street. I don't mind the stiffness. All in the preference of the individual.

BTW, my honest review if you are thinking about buying a set of these just don't they ride so hard on the softest setting the car most likey fell appart because of these, the previous owner changes every drive train joint rod etc. and inside the car pannels all loose it's pretty serious discomfort at the softest setting. I would never recond these for anything other than ... we nothing really. this might be a good set if you go for the softest spring. my guess is that might make it worth the 1000$. Comparing this to the original JCW suspension JCW suspension is stiff but this is like 10 times more. JCW was perfect I tracked the same car with the JCW before if you see my channel it's my older Comp Edition Mini and this is a newer comp edition mini also I had number 39 of 64 before then just bought this nuber 35/64.
