IRyS' favorite line in Play Dice is "Now sing baby" lol. Bae gave her two different reading of that line, and the one in the song made IRyS laugh more so she put it in
For UnAlive I recommend checking out the Rapper breakdowns. It's kind of her "Reflect", struggling between who she was, who she's supposed to be and who she wants to be. Play Dice is just dripping with energy and a great representation of Bae. Everything fits so well together that you might not even notice how random the song structure actually is, with tempo changes, weird pauses, chaining different segments... It's hard to make The8BitDrummer stumble multiple times in a song, but he had a real challenge with it (and a blast).
I agree “Un/alive” wasn’t my favorite, but I definitely went hard on “Resting Power” and “Scuffed Up Age”. Still, I’m sure that will change over a couple of listens. The concert model might look weird because of the live lighting, but the MV has a lot of complementary color schemes going on, plus more time was spent on making it sync. I could complain about some of the animations in the MV, but it was overall strong. Play Dice was just perfect chaotic energy, Chu Chu Chu!
so, I'm pretty sure the dancing was all mocap. The animator/mv maker is the same that did aki's シャルイース and this is the first time they've done anything action focused, so it seems like they didnt know how to frame stuff perfectly. the staging was all great but the shots themselves lacked something. the song itself was not my favorite she's done, though the last rap segment, where the chappel is crumbling, might be my favorite delivery of hers, and it's possibly the least technically sound, since a lot of it is either off beat or not delivered very clearly, that felt like the point, she was cramming words in and trying to say something and failing. I do think her singing wasn't helped by the song, it pushed her range range to it's limits and i'd have perfered if it went a half-step back, as she clearly nailed some notes CLOSE to the upper end but the highest and the lowest felt a bit strained, though I have a feeling she'll get them whe singing live play dice is a bop, and bae through and through, another jaw dropping surprise from gen 2 as I liked bae's voice but it felt like not my taste, but i love that song.
i kinda dont like that Calliope music, she has way better songs than this one like Ouroboros or others (i am not hating, just my opinion), but the Baes song is fire, really glad to hear her sing.
Ironically Unalive MV is my least favorite out of her MVs. The model looked great but the animations/choreo seemed VERY stiff to me. And the lack of facial expressions was also quite jarring imo. Her mera mera MV fixed most of those issues but there were still some issues especially in 3d camera work and again, expressions. Holy shitto was the MV that completely fixed all of those issues. Quality wise Its the best mori MV to date imo. Even MVs released this year can't compete with the sheer graphical quality of that MV. It had the best model and best natural looking animations/choreo out of all of her MVs too.
