they shouldn't let these guys compete if they have a history of disrespect in a sport and culture centred around respect. Theres always someone better out there and if there isn't, those people don't act like this
I feel like I'd you have to enforce it, it's pointless. What makes the respect in judo so amazing is that you don't technically have to be respectful, yet 90% of judoka do anyway, that's what it's all about.
I got DQ'd as an orange belt when my opponent poked me in the eye to try to break a pin. I got the osaekomi, then nearly bit off a finger because he kept trying to eye-poke me again and again during the hold down. He was eliminated from the tourney and I got DQ'd since the blood made it hard to claim it was an accident. After another promotion, I stopped retaliating in a way that would get me DQ'd, instead taking the win and laughing at opponents that cheated and still lost. Guess Judo taught me something. ;)
You have a few poor sports on video, and that spoils the entire thing for you? The amount of practitioners and people exposed to Judo because it’s a sport is so much higher than it would have ever been. Not to mention in martial arts where you dont spar and complete, you might as well be learning dance moves.
And why the hell did he do that? If there was some animosity, maybe I could understand (would still be low behavior deserving of punishment, but at least I would know why), but Georgia and Mongolia? Two top judo nations with no beef.

It’s against everything Judo / martial arts stands for, they, their coaches and people who first introduced or trained them as children should hang their heads in shame. Disrespectful behaviour like these ‘people’ are showing should result in the match being forfeited.
As someone else said, disrespectful conducts should be sanctioned with a DQ. But I want to be more extreme. Disrespectful conducts are done consciously and on purpose, for me they should be punished with a DQ and a permanent ban from any judo competition...there should be no place for this kind of behavior. But in all honesty the Basile part wasn't that disrespectful
I guess the disrespect of pushing down on your fallen opponent (on the throat, it seems) while clearly not doing it for a pin or anything else conductive to any scoring.
When your opponent is falling, keeping on pushing down to the ground doesn't permit to free the energy. As the fallen opponent you will feel twice the effect of the throwing. Not illegal, just not the very best according to Judo lines and etiquette.
Rikimaru00 completely wrong, why answer if you don't know what you're talking about? It doesn't hurt pushing down that's not what's wrong with the the clip. What's wrong is he steps over his opponent. This shows great disrespect to your opponent and he should have instead walked around.
I dont remember what year it was the olympics where i've seen 2 judo guys totally out of shape. They were both on the ground tired unable to get up. People were laughting at them. I'm trying to find that fight
Celebrating before the end of the fight should be prohibited and should automatically lead to the restart of the match from 0-0. The end of the match is when one of the opponents exits the tatami after the final bow takes place. Personally I would say that celebration should not be allowed at all in martial arts.
The rules say, for gold medal, both will have silver in this case, like we see here. For bronze medal, both will have 5e place. In semi-final, both will have 5e place. In Quart-final or repechage, both will have 7e place. So, double hansoku-make = double losers
While this type of conduct is not admirable in Judo, I do find it interesting how rare this conduct is or how rare DQs are in Judo and yet common in BJJ. A quick search will prove my point. This is one of the only Judo videos like this compared to countless comparable ones in BJJ.
Well to be completely honest, in comparison to BJJ, judo isn't as popular and might attract less bad eggs than BJJ. Considering the popularity it gained due to MMA competitions and the Gracies destroying almost every fighter under the sun with it, I think people go into it with the wrong idea and end up doing things they shouldn't be it for UFC aspirations or merely frustration. Slams, heel hooks, not respecting tap outs and just being downright assholes give a bad name to the sport.

I believe that because of the UFC and Gracies sensationalizing BJJ in mainstream, it has attracted a lot of individuals with poor attitudes that perhaps took it up for all the wrong reasons. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met some humble and tough BJJ practitioners that are good people and turned out to be great friends but I was always amazed how every school I visited had at least several bad eggs (you can tell who they are when you roll with them). The first statement you made about Judo not being as popular as BJJ is a complete fallacy. In fact the opposite is true, worldwide, Judo practitioners out number their BJJ counterparts many times over. This makes the point I made in my original comment even more impressive.
@@ryanm1776 I stand corrected. I'm speaking from a perspective of an MMA practitioner, and an ex judoca. I hardly ever hear talk about judo in sport circles, only around the Olympics I hear about my countrywoman Telma Monteiro and that's about it.
João Ribeiro even from an MMA stand point I’m sure you have heard of Ronda Rousey or even Kayla Harrison both Olympic medal winners in Judo turned Mma fighters. Judo is very popular it’s just not ranted about and worshipped like Bjj

Khan-Magomedov was "famous" with such disrespectful behavior. Once he also gave head-butt to Giorgi Zantaraia and got disqualification because of that.

I think the only disrespectful one was the guy who refused to shake hands at the end, everything else was just competition attitude, well with the exception of the face slap lol.
It’s men playing a contact sport, what do you expect? Respect is a plus but you can’t always expect it when people are fighting for dominance to show who’s the best. People just get in the moment as well and get heated.
Yeah, no. One of Judo’s main foundations is the principle of respect. If they can’t have respect for the person that gave them the opportunity to prove their dominance then they shouldn’t be competing.

Judo Players have some real and serious insecurities issues constantly trying to palm themselves off as Real Fighters, its like a step above Aikido and a very small step at that lol

Take somebody who has never done Judo to a Judo Club and the club tells them they need to stop being stiff, they are too rigid and relax a little and then they can do their moves lol. Judo doesnt work in the real world, its a joke and Judoka know this and have serious insecurity issues they hide behind their aggression
@@mysty0 If that's true, then why are there so many takedowns in MMA? Telling the uke to relax and not be stiff is for theeir safety, not the tori's. I can throw all day long whether you're stiff or not. The tori just needs to make sure they actually use kuzushi.

@@mysty0 I suspect you've never done Judo... at least not in a half-competent club. If Judo wasn't effective Rhonda Rousey wouldn't have been so dominant for so long in the UFC. Her entire game revolved around Judo with o-goshi, harai-goshi, various leg reaps, and the arm-bar. To claim that these techniques only work on a complying opponent is just bizarre. On top of all that - many techniques in Judo are also used in BJJ and folk wrestling, just under a different name, and in fact Judo used to be really similar to catch wrestling too before the new IJF rules banned single and double leg takedowns (but that's only the sport aspect of Judo anyway). You don't seem like the type of person that listens to reason or logic, so I don't expect you to change your mind or even do a session of Judo before you bash it, I just hope that other people reading this will realise that your opinion comes from a place of absolute ignorance rather than fact.
I'm not against this at all. You want to make things interesting for the crowd, there's nothing better than adding a good villain/antihero to their narrative. Bowing and shaking hands might be the most noble attitude, but it gets boring when everybody's doing it *all the time* ... Dickishness is the spice of sports, really.
