Unbelievable Ancient Sea Monsters of The Mesozoic Era: Dinosaur Documentary

Take a plunge into the deep blue depths of any of the world's oceans today and you would be lucky to encounter a reptile. Out in the open waters, your best bet would be to catch a glimpse of a sea turtle - perhaps a hawksbill, or a giant leatherback. Closer to the shore, sea snakes, and occasionally lizards and crocodilians venture out into the waters, but, in the twenty first century, a truly marine reptile is a rare occurance. In the Mesozoic Era - the time when dinosaurs had the run of the land - the oceans were, in fact, teeming with marine reptiles, unlike anything else that exists today.
Popular media is filled with depictions of these reptiles - from the long necked plesiosaurs, to the fish like ichthyosaurs, these creatures take their place proudly next to the pterosaurs as some of the most famed organisms of times gone by. The truth is, these reptiles were not only commonplace in the seas of the Mesozoic, but were extremely diverse. Turtles and crocodilians existed, just as they do in the modern day - but some of them would be near unrecogniseable to an uninformed time traveller. The plesiosaurs in particular were one of the most diverse groups of Mesozoic marine reptiles - ranging hugely in size and form from the long necked titans we're familiar with, to short necked varieties who, during the latter half of the Mesozoic, took the throne next to the mighty mosasaurs as the apex predators of the turbulent, unforgiving waves. All of this can be said without even touching on the oddities of the Triassic Period's waters - a time when weird reptiles were present in every cove, bay, sea and coastline in the world's waters. Here, groups of reptiles utterly unfamiliar to modern zoology thrived in huge numbers, blossoming into a seemingly infinite range of forms and niches.
Today, we will be taking a tour through time - a whistle stop journey through the oceans of our prehistoric world, where we will meet some of the major groups of marine reptiles that thrived from the start of the Triassic period, to the end of the Cretaceous, right up to the cataclysmic KPg extinction event. Hold your breath - it's going to be a dangerous dive indeed...

Evolution is a lie. What animal do you know that grows something it’s lacking out of nowhere? Things jjst don’t morph into something else unless reproduced. Every species that has lived and that lives has had one species and one goal to reach. That’s keep their species going. Once they die there is no more. Maybe another species will fill the niche, but never will one species transform into the next at will or thought. This isn’t the lgbt, but actual life.

The Atlantic ocean didn't even exist when Plesiosaurs fist evolved in the Late Triassic. They lived long enough to see a large but narrow/water-filled crack form and separate the East Coast from (what is today) Europe. By the time of their extinction this once narrow channel had opened-up into the vast Atlantic ocean we know today. The Mesozoic oceans were, generally, much warmer than today. There was no ice at the poles and marine reptiles established a worldwide distribution. Plesiosaurs (along with the Ichthyosaurs) were some of the most successful of all Marine Reptiles.

23:12 When we just say it is about the Monster of Aramberri, the dipiction is not wrong. I think it actually even is about the Monster of Arambarri. They thought it was a Liopleurodon. That is why they overrestimated the size of Liopleurodon. But the Monster of Aramberri was truly unrealisticly huge. It and Predator X would have deserved mentioning in this video. But still nice video.

are all animals with 5 fingers on each hand closely related ... .. ..and does all life go back to one life that formed . . .anyone . .
@daverobson3084
@daverobson3084 9 месяцев назад
All life is believed to go back to a one common ancestor due to all known life containing the same 4 base pairs in their DNa and all having right handed chirality in their DNa/RNa. Does that mean that it is certain? I would say not " certain", but, very highly likely . On the finger thing it depends on what you mean by " closely" related. Early theropod dinosaurs had five fingered hands. So do modern apes. Are they " closely related"? Those five fingered theropods were certainly much more closely related to their own four, three, two, and one fingered fellow theropods than they are to a five fingered chimpanzee or gorilla. But all are more " closely related" to each other than any are to a sea squirt.

This was an interesting video, but I have some constructive criticisms that could help future videos. 1. I'm unsure if the narration was done via text to voice, but the constant inflections and silences at the end of words (e.g., they go down in volume) was repetitive- almost too repetitive- and was a bit distracting for me. If the narration was spoken more realistically, I'd be more engaged. It is important to have feeling in narration, but the rhythm of words screamed Artificial Intelligence product to me. 2. The plural of genus is genera. 3. I think you overused the term "trash bin taxon". 4. "Pretty much" really lowered the formality of the video. Instead, you could say "[taxon name] is recognized by many." And it does not sound as informal as "[taxon name] is recognized by pretty much everyone". With these additions/edits, I think you'd have a 5 star video.
