@@johanwass9709 I have listened to both her 9 yo and 10 yo versions many times (well over 100 each) and for the age and conditions (in front of a large live {charity for HIV} audience (9yo) and setting in a chair (10yo) both are absolutely phenomenal and by far the best ever for the age! But the maturity of her voice at 16 and the technical development by the time she reached 16 makes this version better than the younger versions and better than ANY VERSION EVER, IN MY OPINION! And I have been listening to the song for 81 years! It was one of my Mothers favorite songs so I probably heard it several times even before I was born. Not sure whose version she listened to back then, but I know she listened to a lot of Mitzi Green. My Mother's maiden name was also Green!

Of all my Angelina favorites, this Masterclass Performance is my favorite favorite. I've loved this song for at least 50 years & have heard all the legendary versions by the great jazz singers of the past, but this version is by far the best I've ever heard. The only thing that could make it better is to see her singing it.

I believe this was the first release Angelina made after she turned 16 and was released on Valentine's Day, 2022. This song has been covered hundreds of times by singing greats like Frank Sinatra, but NOBODY has recorded a more sultry and seductive version than this. Thanks for reacting to this masterpiece!

Since her birthday is January 10 she was barely 16 and depending on exactly when this was recorded before it was released, she actually could have still been 15. No matter, it would still be an incredible performance if she was 35.

Angelina's moving you with her emotion is her way of reaching in and stringing twinkling stars around your heart...If each note could take the shape of all these crystals hanging off those chandeliers, reflecting colors, twinkling, shimmering, with lights. .. they'd come out from her mouth and fill the room with her beautiful voice . Nevermind that last little look she gives the camera is her way of saying did you feel it?? And of course, that breaks the helpless captivity and we have no choice but to say "Yes!!" The song itself comes from a motion picture musical called "Babes in Arms", from 1937. The song was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, and has been featured on over 1300 albums by over 600 different musical artists. It is now considered a Jazz standard. The Chet Baker version recorded with the Gerry Mulligan quartet was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2015. Angelina's take is easily the most breathtakingly beautiful version of this song I have ever heard in my 65 years, and is quite possibly my favorite Angelina recording......so far!!

This song was written by Rogers and Hart in 1937 for the Broadway play 'Babes in Arms'. The song was FIRST performed by Mitzi Green who played the character Billy Smith in this "coming- of-age musical comedy. Rogers and Hart also wrote "The lady is a tramp" which Mitzi also sang in the same performance!

I laughed when you said you were going to look up the original for “My Funny Valentine”, the most covered jazz standard in history, with over 600 covers, I don’t think anyone has ever heard how it was originally done. By the way, Angelina went to school on Ella Fitzgerald, who also was know for being another instrument in the band, not just a singer.

My Funny Valentine. Created in 1937 by Rodgers and Hart for the Broadway show Babes in Arms. There are at present over 1300 known recordings at present. First sung by Mitzi Green who stared in Babes in arms on Broadway on April 14, 1937. There is apparently no recording of Mitzi Green singing the song thou there is one recording that is purported to be her thou she is given no credit on the cover for the recording. No one is listed as vocalist. It is said to be a recording of the original first performance on Broadway.

You'll notice that Angelina's vocals are overdubbed on top of the visuals. Keeping in mind that, visually, she could be mistaken for a sultry, sensual lounge singer because of her vivacious looks and intoxicating application of the vocals in the song. By separating the vocals from the video, the viewing listener will be drawn to, not a sultry, sensual lounge singer but simply a beautiful teenage girl who is day dreaming as she meanders through an antique furnishings store. Knowing how important her mom feels with regard to how she will be perceived, the overdubbing seems to me to be a master stroke.

I'm guessing, but the impression I originally got was that she was coming across too sultry and sensual for Mama Sara. She's like a lioness when it comes to making sure Angelina is not perceived in a way she doesn't approve of.

@@ridgemanron But having put it out there (Instagram?) they must have known it would be reposted anyway. It was too late to ‘undo’. I tried in vain to find the backing track that was used, leading me to think that it was probably custom made, so there was quite a lot of planning and expense put into it. I’m more inclined to think there’s some other factor involved and it may be money.
