I first saw Elton perform this in concert in 1976, at the old Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan. This performance was Chicago, 1991, with 70,000 people. The Wembley performance was 1985 before 72,000 people. This is an EXCELLENT rendition of this song, probably the best I've ever heard...

Both of them were at the top of their game vocally in this video. Elton was sober and still had the pipes, and George Michael had a voice that other singers would kill for.

Elton is a legend but wow I love George so much!! He has one of the best male voices ever and is one of the best songwriters of all time. I mean I've watched so many performances of George and never once has he sounded off, even in the slightest! He was always so consistent! I definitely recommend doing more George Michael cuz he has a massive catalogue of work(not only of his own work, but of famous covers and collaborations with other major artists like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Queen, Stevie Wonder, and Mary J Blige) that spans over 3 decades and many different genres! He was an amazing talent, both musically and as a performer, and he also seemed like such a humble and kind person. I'm only 22 years old, but I miss him so much cuz I grew up on his music :( RIP to such a talented sweet soul. I mean when he died stevie wonder said that George was God's gift to the world, and he definitely had a point

Oh bless your heart Joelyne! You have restored my faith that some of this great music will live on. George doesn't get the respect he deserves. I agree he was one of the best singer / songwriter of all time. More than anything he was a generous and amazing human being. The assistance George provided to so many charities with the understanding that they would tell never tell it was from him just shows what kind of person he was. We only learned about just how generous he was after his death. I hope George is happy and with his love Anselmo, his mom Leslie and his sister Melanie. RIP George, we miss you.

This is an iconic performance by two legends. They were good friends. Elton admired his talent so much. George sang live just as good if not better than studio recordings. His voice was thrilling. He like to cover Elton John songs because he always said they were perfect for him.

Correction, they were good friends until George stabbed Elton in the heart during Live Aid on this very song. Elton was ready to sing his parts & George never let up and basically treated Elton as a session piano player. They didn't speak for 6 yrs and this was the reunion performance on George's tour. It rightfully will go down in history as a highlight in music for decades.

That is the beauty of George. He could take any song from another artist and make you feel like it was his own. He poured every bit of himself into the delivery of that song. He truly felt the emotion throughout his rendition. This is what made him a singer better than anybody else because of how transparent he was with his emotion and how he could connect with the audience through what he was feeling. I adore George. What a massive talent he was. To write compose sing and produce his entire catalog of music is so impressive. The man sold over 115 million records in his lifetime and that is no small feat.

I'm someone who loves originals. Regardless of whether it's movies or music. I'd list some examples, but then people will say mean things and hate me. So, I'll just stick to Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. It was one of my favorites, until I heard this version. It's absolutely, stunningly brilliant!! I listened to the first half of the song with my mouth half open!! It's by far, the best collaboration I've ever heard, of any song. This reminds me of those commercials decades ago advertising cassette tapes for recording music. Their claim was you couldn't tell whether it was a live or recorded performance. The ad line was, "Is it live or is it Memorex?" LOL

When I sang this song as George Michael part in karaoke - first of all, it always was a hit, especially if I had a good partner for Elton - but most of all, I had such a great feeling of energy, power, emotion... wow. The background story is this: I wasn't interested in singing until I bought two LP's in the soviet music shop and since then for some 3 years, fanatically I sang along to those George Michael songs wishing to get the same sound, the cut through listener's emotions, etc... maybe partially I get something because after singing at public Karaokes in the city, I attended to TV vocal competition auditions and get through and even to finals.

George had an incredible voice. He also, wrote, sang, arranged, produced and played most of the instruments! People forget how huge he was. In the 80s and 90s he was right up there with MJ, Madonna and Prince, with a seemingly endless stream of number 1 singles and albums, all over the World! He'd been a massive star in 'Wham' alongside his best friend but it was George who wrote all the songs and increasingly arranged and produced too, as well as being the singer of course. He'd frequently and generously include Andrew in the writing credits though. It's his solo career where his genius really shone through though. His debut solo album, 'Faith' was ridiculously successful, having something like 5 or 6 US number 1 singles released from it but it was his follow-up album, 'Listen Without Prejudice' that was his masterwork, imho. It too contained 3 or 4 number 1 singles but the songwriting, performance and production were all on another level. I genuinely believe that it's one of the greatest albums of all-time! His later albums did really well everywhere but the States, after THAT incident forced him out of the closet. He was incredible live and had the voice of a generation. What's more, he was intelligent, articulate and funny and extremely generous. He didn't talk the talk, like most stars but he walked the walk. After his death, it emerged that he'd given most of his enormous fortune away, mainly to charities and good causes but also to people he just met, or read about, that he heard were struggling. However, he insisted on no publicity, which is why it didn't emerge until after his death.

On May 17, 1990, Elton John recorded a performance on MTV Unplugged at the Chelsea Studios in New York City. An acoustic version of the song was included as a track on The Unplugged Collection, Volume One. In 1991, "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" was covered in a live version as a duet by George Michael and Elton John. This is very good!!!!!!!

This is originally elton john song, but the original version is different. But because george michael is himself a great songwriter and producer he arranged it other way. This concert is one of the george michael tour called cover to cover tour But the most amazing thing in this duet Is that george tried hard to convince his friend elton john to do it to get him out of the state he was in. That was the first elton's performance after rehab, from cocaine. And it was really his first way in singing again. By the way, george was an amazing songwriter and producer doing everything by himself in his albums. And no factory of hits behind him He was really genius And concerning his voice From the rarest that you could appreciate his live performances better than the studio version

400th like! (11 months after the fact sadly, because this deserved many more likes much earlier!) Although I was never a huge fan of much of George Michael's earlier music, I recognized him early on as an incredible vocalist. Both he and Elton have always been, as you so rightly put it "performers". Being on stage, giving their all to the crowd has always been what they're about. I remember an Elton John concert some years ago that had to be cancelled due to illness. Elton John had tried to 'go on with the show' but was simply unable to do so. When the concert was called, with a promise of a refund or a ticket to future shows, the crowd who could have rightly been disappointed by a promised show that was now ended, gave Elton John a standing ovation. Elton John broke down into tears on stage. Likely in part because he couldn't "perform" (remember he is a performer) but probably more so because he felt the love of his fans who understood. This performance of one of my favorite Elton John songs, as a duet with another amazing vocalist is one for the ages! I envy every soul that was sitting in that crowd!

To me this was George Michael's second-best live performance behind Somebody To Love at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. His range and control of his voice in that performance is brilliant. You must also check out his remake of his own song One More Try at the Prince's Trust Concert. It is equally Sublime. You seem like you're a huge Elton fan. I grew up with them both as I am George's age. I think the George is a better artist. His voice is superior, he wrote every one of his songs in lyrics and melody and earned three Ivor Novello Awards, live he sounds exactly like his recordings, most of the time he did his own backup vocals, played instruments on his albums, produced and arranged, was an excellent dancer and entertainer. You can see he has stage presence big time. I don't know one musical artist who touches him as he could do it all. Then of course he looked and dressed impeccably and was downright gorgeous. You don't hear anyone say anything about him other than he was so kind and wonderful to work with even though he was a perfectionist. George said several times his music was more important than his life. When George's light was extinguished we lost so much not only in the music industry but for Humanity. Go into and listen to his entire catalog and you will say why didn't I find George Michael sooner. You really won't be sorry!

Nobody was expecting Elton to even be there. That is what makes this so dramatic. I maybe mistaken but prior to this there may have been some bad blood between the to. Which, if true, gives this performance some extra weight. I think I saw this show on cable not long after it was recorded. I think it was still around the time MTV was still showing videos 24/7 and I caught this. I of course cried my eyes out because they are both exceptional artists and it was beautiful. I am still crying my eyes out. Thanks man this was a great memory. I'm giving you a link to my favorite young singer 15 year old Kazakh singer Daneliya Tuleshova. Her vocal career has mirrored Angelina Jordan's path. I have chronic pain and it is really bad in the middle of the night it seems. Well I usually run the internet looking for singers. Back in November 2017 in a three night span I found Daneliya and Angelina. I found Daneliya first with her blind audition for The Voice Kids Ukraine. She was 10 yrs. old and tiny and the second her voice came out I was hit with an emotional lightening bolt. I mean my vision went white, I mean pure white, at the same instant I burst into tears and I cried like the woman I loved left me and my favorite dog died at the same time. I kept crying off and on for the next hour before I got it under control. Her voice still puts me in tears every time I hear her sing. Three nights later I ran into a 7 year old Angelina Jordan. She sang, 'I'm A Fool To Want You' acapella. Staying in tune and on beat with no instruments helping, and from a cold start, meaning no helping note to get her off on the right foot. Dressed in her white Princess dress, with a pile of hair that looked like it was done by the The Green Bay Packers. Out of this came a voice that sounded like she had been drinking Scotch and smoking cigarettes since she was born, and yet was as pure and innocent as if she had just climbed down from God's lap. So I'm going to send you 2 videos. one of Daneliya and the 2nd is Angelina's effort. I'm sorry I wrote so much, but I do have terminal ADHD since from I was 4-5. So react or not your choice, just please listen to them. Thanks again. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ilH0qF8xDBg.html Daneliya Tuleshova 15 yrs. old 'The Hills' by The Weekend ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LXknLZDoRVQ.html Angelina Jordan 7-8 yrs. old 'I'm A Fool To Want You' by Billie Holiday

George Michael: IMHO The best. A Different Corner(my personal fave song, ever, by any artist) Jesus To A Child (written about his partner that died from AIDS related complications, his entire album, Older, is dedicated to him) One More Try Fast Love (If possible watch video, it's amazing) Freedom 90 (Video is STUNNING) Monkey Spinning The Wheel, video! Somebody To Love, Freddie Mercury tribute concert. He KILLED it. Outside (Personally love this one just for the sheer balls shown by making a song about his own arrest) White Light (Which to be honest, since his death, breaks my heart every single time, as does Last Christmas) Waiting For That Day Older ...ummm, basically his entire catalogue. LoL Wham!: Club Tropicana Young Guns (Go For It) Everything She Wants Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do) Where Did Your Heart Go The Edge Of Heaven Battlestations
