For anyone looking for really cheap but effective physical filtering, get a stainless steel filter body for the common 2" x 10" home water filter cartridges and use those cartridges in it. The types of material used in those filter cartridges have very good chemical compatibility with common fuels and oils which means they take far more exposure time to start to break down than their active service life will ever be. With that setup, it's easy to do higher volume filtering down to 1 micron with common cheap parts.
@@tcmtech7515 simmer down there fucko - your stating you can do higher volume and filtering to one micron with paper filter cartridges. Do you even know what a centrifuge is?
@@handlebaraddict A centrifuge is a great addition to filtering, but doesn't replace it. A centrifuge only removes particles that are heavier than the oil.
@@kamildziurgot7468 2002 is the year model it has been decat with the egr valve deleted. I'm now using Vegetable oil and kerosene mix at 60% veg to 40% kerosene...
@@Andersljungberg no just straight clean vegetable oil and diesel but"! I'm running veg/kerosene mix now at 60% vegetable oil to 40% kerosene, as more cleaner burn 😁
I've been running 40/20/40 (wmo/gas/diesel) in my unmodified garage furnace for months now. On my viscosity tester it was 64 seconds (59 seconds diesel) so it seems close. Might start here with the duramax. Over 20% gas made it rumble due to pre-ignition
As long as it's filtered good and clean it should not harm the injectors. Also need to make sure the viscosity is right to thin is bad on injectors as well is to thick it will have to be thinned for winter. Use stale gasoline for thinning or u can use paint thinner if preferred.
Good stuff as always man👍👍.. to me,it wouldn't be worth the risk of wrecking a common rail injector...but what do I know..when I get time some day,I've gotta try your black diesel concept's ... as always, thanks for everything..have a good weekend 👊
On my 2019 6.7 I ran 20% fryer oil and that was 30% kerosene on my 94 I run 100% fryer oil that has 30% kerosene but only if the temp is above 50 Fahrenheit after I get a good centrifuge the 6,000 RPM direct drive unit I want to try running black diesel in colder temps I came up with the 50° because at that temperature I started to get hazing out the tailpipe so at that point I switched to diesel lol and so far I haven't had a problem but I also spent on new fuel filters on my truck just to be safe once every two or three fill ups
If you want to filter the oil to where it is pure again you can add a little bit of DE filter powder to your recirculating system it will get stuck in the filter and make it more efficient way past 2 micron paper filter for those really big yellow filters you might be able to put in like 2 cups of de powder it scrubs the oil crystal clear.
@@CUTTERUPROB it’s how the recycled oil companies clean used oil it’s also the same process they use in kitchens to clean fry oil at the end of the night it’s called diatomaceous earth powder you could build or find a used fry filter machine they use a 7 micron paper filter with the DE powder then recirculating the oil threw the system traps all the particles in the DE it’s pretty simple I used to do it many many years ago when I had a diesel tractor and 12v
@@CUTTERUPROB the machine we used was called a magnasol fry filter king I believe the magnasol “powder” is just DE powder you can get at a pool supply store
@@Justthemow i have too also heard of DE powder but never seen it used in waste motor oil. only kitchen stuff...I would deffinatly like to see this is WMO for the DIY
Always wondered if I could run it in my 06 cummins just been too scared.....but my 97 cummins iv been running it on a mix of 20% gas with only waste oil no diesel and for the last 10 or so years have not had 1 problem with it....had stock injectors up intell about 2 months back not because they were bad just wanted to upgrade..I do let my oil settle for 6 or so months before I heat it up and run in my centrifuge and I run it very slow. Stock lift pump, modified afc, 3thousand gov springs and that's it...just hit 300,000 on her
Ran vegi/diesel 50/50 Mix in my 2021 ram Cummins state side. 6,000 miles later I melted my hole def exhaust system . Don’t do it unless your def deleted
Speaking of heating the black diesel... Perhaps one of the kids could program an Arduino, connected to a viscosity tester, that regulates a tank heater, maintaining ideal viscosity.
with these diesel prices i think im going to park the duramax, and bust out the 12v and just start filling it from the waste oil bin at the shop lol. Would be cool to see a vid or a bit more info on the cleaning processes, like running a centrifuge, filter systems, or ive heard of guys cooking off water or whatever depending where they get their used oils from, maybe something on types of oils used too, i could see the mixtures getting a little different if a guy was running used gear oils vs engine oils
Run a 55 gallon drum with a 150 gph centrifuge and a 5500w immersion heater. Run the oil through cold for 6 hours. Clean the centrifuge. Heat the barrel to 110°F and run it another 6 hours. Will pull all the heavy particulates and water out in the cold run and all the fine particulates and even more water out in a heat run. Want 3X the filtration of capacity. You'll pull 50 gallons through the 150 gph centrifuge 3X per hour.
You can do it but you need to filter the oil back down to 0 % particulates. It’s not that hard just have to recirculate the oil threw the filter till it’s clear.
My filter 'system' is a 1 micron sock filter in an 8" duct tube sitting on a funnel on my holding tank. Pour the oil into the filter and gravity will take it from there. Originally I used a 5 gallon bucket, then I'd carry that to the truck. Now I use a 65gal. transfer tank with a pump and nozzle so it's just like going to the gas station.
Did it on a common-rail car that wasn't fell suited (no lift pumps and no short circuit filter) and it ran fine until stupidity killed the high pressure pump. Even started just fine around freezing temperatures.
Cool videos CUTTERUP ROB. If you had to choose between used hydraulic oil or wmo what one would you use? I have access to as much as i want of either. Thanks alot.
@@znaszgoprzeciez2229 Done it both ways and not much if any difference. My 7.3 ran on 100% wmo but common rail needs thinned out. Had over 100k miles on my 7.3, 200k miles on my 1.9 tdi, and maybe 15k on my 2.0 tdi’s. They all smoked a little to varying degrees.
@@znaszgoprzeciez2229 so yes 50/50 wmo and diesel and 80/20 wmo/ rug. All depends on what I have available and time of year. Gas is a cleaner too so I will trough a gallon in a 50/50 mix just the was it out of you will. That’s just my experience fwiw.

I like % better lol I would honestly need to go read about how to understand parts to figure out what your saying. But I run black diesel w90 in my old stuff so I can guess what ur saying with the amounts. (i dont own a common rail but if it was that important I would figure it out) My mix for non common rail is waste oil 90% regular gasoline 10% which is w90 and dual tanks. Other tank is straight diesel. My single tank car gets 50% diesel and other half of the tank is w90

Hey Rob good videos, u should add hho to the diesels double yer mpg, faster cleaner burn, removes carbon, i burn french fry oil 70% 15% diesel, 15% gas, no modifications, no heater, but use 2 settling storage tanks , so fines settle out after full blend for 1 wk
Steam also works very good, use coppercoil pipe arnd exhaust pipe insulated or insulated stove pipe, keep exhaust fumes away from copper pipe, it eats copper pipe
I have a 2016 ram 2500 Cummins no dpf, it has a mild tune done but other than that it is factory. Could I do a mixture like this for my truck? Thanks for any input.
Got a question just did a turbo swap on my 24 valve about to weeks ago well it wasn’t white smoking for about the first week after the swap now I notice a light white haze on first acceleration after cranking or if I sit and idle for a long time it will blow a little more white smoke truck runs perfect temps are fine no loss of power took a intercooler pipe off it has a small amount of oil in it do you think my turbo is causing it
What do you run? I've been watching not so grand garage and he mixes 10-20% gas in it with a dual tank setup. I also have a 7.3 and I've been trying to figure out what works best in it.
I believe we'll find motors running on the used oil versas deisel fuel will last much longer. Than it's counter part. With all the sulfur and exc that's removed from our pump fuel it is better on the wear. The oil provide more lubricity. Than the pump fuel so I think it's not an issue it's better. Than pump fuel common rail works fine on the used motor oil just filter it thrufill up the tank and go .
Excuse me, but diesel fuel must contain more energy than petrol. and a diesel engine uses higher compression than a gasoline engine and therefore burn burn the fuel more efficiently. but then the fuel must have the property that the fuel can utilize maximum compression. A problem with gasoline is knocking, especially if it is low octane. Which, however, Toyota tried to solve with its technology Skyactiv X It should have some type of compression ignition even though it is a car that is supposed to run on gasoline
