I am here to help you guys and gals to build and add performance to you Cummins trucks . I am the owner of Cutterup auto & machine in Calgary Alberta Canada. I have been in the automotive industry for the last 20 years. The last 12 years have been basically B series Cummins engine ( engine in dodge trucks ) I will be doing , how to video's, tech video's , product reviews , project builds and more . I love my Cummins 5.9 and 6.7's and I hate seeing so many people getting bad info so here we are. Now saying that I don't know everything so I we be bring you along for the ride when I jumping into new things. Thanks for watching & Please SUBCRIBE !
I'm chasing the same problem.....It seems to get smoother after running on the highway...but still is there....I'm thinking its a governor springs issue on the pump?....I don't think it's air injestion....this is a 99 dodge 24v auto that I put a 160hp p7100 on.... engine ran perfect before the vp44 started going out.
Two things to look at. What the pop pressure the injectors are set at I like 270-280bar And if it still has stock delivery valve. Put a set of 181 or 191 in it. Also make sure your timing it’s 18 or above too
@@CUTTERUPROB I did a rough timing job...I believe it's either 16.5 to 17.5...then I went 4° more which should have been 20.5 to 21.5 with no change other than it sounded more aggressive..so I backed down to 16.5ish......i put cheap 191 delivery valves in....now I did not touch the injectors yet...so they should be stock vp44 injectors....I did go one size larger on the injector lines....I think they're like .840...and I believe stock size is like .780?... anyhow I have wondered if the pump is just not pushing enough fuel for the bigger lines... your videos have really helped me with this truck...it's been fun working on it...just this issue seems be a pain to figure out....the pump looks stock other than someone moved the AFC, and the governor springs anti tamper wire has been cut....I wonder if it's maybe just not adjusted properly....thanks for the suggestions...I need to refine my timing so i know the exact degree...Love your channel Man! 👍
👍👍..not that anyone care's, or should, the APPS relocation bracket that i purchased for a VP44 Delete to 7100 makes it difficult to have the fuel supply at the normal rear location..so i fed at the front... although, that plug was a bugger to remove..but anyway 👍👍👊
My Fass was 10 years old and obviously had the old style harness and was starting to have issues. Have a new one on now. Im also happier with them making the harness and plug heavier. The 165 gph is quieter than the old 150 and holds more fuel pressure under load. Now the 260 on the other truck is loud lol
Hey Rob, you ever turn down the OD of the rear drums on a 99 ctd to fit stock 01.5 alloy wheels? How critical is the clearance? Can it be run in gear & dressed with a grinder to fit or should I pull the drums & have them turned? Have desent 16in bfg tires on stock alloy wheels I wanted to run on my 99... but won't fit over my drums. Thank Dusty
@@CUTTERUPROB If the tops of the ramps are gone you can loose lift without loosing lash. You would have had to checked lift with a dial indicator on every lobe to have it show up checking external.
fass support is garbage, ive tried reaching out to them by email, phone and such for a month to no returned calls. threw the unit in the trash built my own setup. good to hear somone is getting support
@@CUTTERUPROB I ended up getting a hold of klm who sells parts, even they stated fass is absolutely horrible to get in touch with. I need to get a new motor for my unit, but all I can get is crickets. 😅
its if your using it as a 4 pole relay it doesn't matter either way, but a 5 pole should have 30 hot wire, so that when its not energized the normally closed circuit is hot
Would you do this on a stock truck with the fuel plate and afc cover moved towards the front bumper? Just trying to achieve 350hp. I will be upgrading the clutch to a 350 to 450 hp clutch.
How does someone contact you with a question? I have some early 1986 Bosch injectors that are 245 BAR but run 200 BAR when I tested them. Is it possible to shim them and if so could a person order some shims from you? Yes I want some new injectors but the pattern is fine, they only have 75,000 miles on them, but are old. You have a video on the tips but a video on the guts and how to dial them in would be great. Cummins 4BT running compounds.
@@CUTTERUPROB Paying $70.oo to have you tell me you do not sell shim kits or springs strikes me as a poor us of my cash. Ditto if you do sell the parts and I am paying for the privilege of placing an order. I like the idea of getting either Bosch or quality parts - like you do with your injector tips. I understand that your time is valuable and you need to make a living, I am more interested in getting some parts than having a chat.
if your looking to for tech support as for asking questions, that's what i have that for, if you looking for parts as of right now what i have on my website is what available, which i don't have shim kits for injectors that i can supply as of right now, i am inedited with emails and calls everyday ( would say 30-40 calls or emails a day ) , I just can't spend that much time helping when i need to be working to keep my life going same as everyone else,
@@CUTTERUPROB Thanks - I totally get it. When I get around to installing new injectors for this engine I will order them from you - too much off shore junk out there - my Chinese knock off gasket kit came with what looked like good copper washers - they are all copper plated steel - waste of money and pretty much fraud.
👍👍.. I've got a similar scenario... recently did a vp44 delete with a used 7100 from a running 8.3 ( long story)... start's and runs perfectly, but after a minute or 2 it developes a noticable misfire from idle(850) to 1200...runs fine beyond that... Verified all the obvious...oh well, will figure it out eventually.. thanks for another video... take care 👍👍👊
I love your videos, man, but just a friendly recommendation to volume match your speech with music as it was quiet speech and extremely loud music when it switched over, may have blown one of my door speakers by accident lol
Very interested to see how the HX35 does if you go that route ! Looking at you intake what's your opinion on the banks split intake, I guess it would work on a 1st gen with a VE pump ? Looks like you added a secondary oil filtration system as well ! Where did you run the return line ?
Hello, dear Mr. Rob, don't worry, I am also a 53-year-old Cummins engine mechanic in Iran, in the city of Qom, and I have been following your program carefully for several years, and unfortunately, 6 months ago, due to a blood clot in the central stem of my brain (three months after surgery) Lateral abdominal hernia), I had a stroke and after a long time of treatment, thank God, I am better, but after that, I had joint pains, and the right side of my body is getting weaker day by day. Please show my MRI and heart tests to a skilled doctor there and please help me to return to my previous job, if it is possible for you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
