Gary started out as a Bluesman, that music is his roots. He learned how to blend the blues and rock to an astounding degree. The Gibson Les Paul he's playing becomes an extension of his body and soul. Unfortunately he is no longer with us having died in 2011 from an alcohol related death. @pluckinmageetar
@pluckinmageetar 2 года назад
@@GBCR Actually, no. He did NOT start with Blues or anything that was called "Blues Rock" in Ireland in 1971 when he played on his first album with Skid Row a band labeled as "Ireland's foray into HARD ROCK MUSIC". Next he played in the band Colleseum, an early HEAVY, Prog Rock band, Thin Lizzy, his solo stuff was heavy Rock (its ALL BLUES influenced, numbnut!) Early 80s NOT PROG but more pop infused Rock....THEN "STILL GOT THE BLUES ", After Hours"...... You know squat!
@GBCR
@GBCR 2 года назад
@@pluckinmageetar Semantics. Skid Row is very much blues-based. They also incorporate some fusion & prog-leaning stuff. Ditto for 'Grinding Stone' and 'Back on the Streets'. In fact, he initially refused to join Skid Row because he only wanted to play blues. They had to change their style some to accommodate him.

Congratulations guys, that was a great reaction. Gary was in my humble opinion the best guitarist ever to walk this earth. He still remains vastly underrated and generally unknown and it is people like yourselves who are pushing both his name and brilliance to the fore. He really does deserve to be a 'household name' and be remembered for his awesome talent. Of course his vocals were pretty dammed good too! You are quite correct in saying that he was also a rock guitarist before switching (or to be more accurate), returning to the blues in 1989. But Gary could play any style he wanted to from Blues, Rock, Jazz Fusion and even Neo-classical. I have been playing guitar for over 50 years now and have been lucky enough to see many, many fantastic guitarists including the Great Jimi Hendrix when I was 14 years old. Without Jimi we probably wouldn't have had any of the great guitar players we have or had. But Gary just had that something very special. His playing touched your soul. Could you please react to Gary Moore The Messiah Will Come Again Live. I have included the link below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7k07j7LcLqw.html Here you will see a true master at work. Every aspect of guitar playing is here including bends, pull-off's, hammer-on's, palm muting, violining and more. R.I. P. Gary. Thank you and I really look forward to seeing your reaction. Whenever I see Gary play, especially live, I just get a tear in my eye. He was just so soulful and he really felt the music. You are right that he started off as a rock guitarist with Thin Lizzy and went along the hard rock route in the 80’s. His 1984 album, “Victims of the Future” was fire and full of heavy riffs and solos but when he came out with “Still Got the Blues”in 1990 it was quite a shift in genre. He had played similar bluesy style songs such as “Parisienne Walkways” and “The Loner” in the past but he really let his inner ‘bluesman’ with this song.

My middle daughter, Lauren, is a very dedicated guitarist. She was in the process of applying for a very competitive place in an over subscribed university course. She was required to do an audition. She said to me "Dad, what do you think I should do?". The wonderful Gary Moore had sadly just passed. I suggested that maybe she could do a Gary Moore Medley. She went away, practised, then went to the audition. The would-be students were queued up in the hallway waiting for their opportunity. Her name was called. She went in to the audition and channelled Gary Moore. She blew their socks off. When she came out she looked at all the waiting hopefuls. One was a friend she knew. He said "we heard your set, we're just talking about going home right now". Everybody, once they get to know his music, recognise his amazing compositions. Lauren got the placement and a 1/1 degree. Always loved his work, always will.

Glad you got to witness one of the greatest electric guitar players ever. Slow or fast, soft or loud, all played with such precision. He was a perfectionist. Sadly died in his 50’s.RIPGary

Evan when he was in Thin Lizzy, they sometimes had a slow bluesy sound !! " Rest in Peace Gary ". I think Gary would be proud too know, there is a young generation of guitar players, that have been influenced by his style & the sound of that Les Paul❤😎🎸👌

Great video! I've never seen a reaction video for a Gary Moore performance, but this was great! Been a huge Gary Moore fan and it's so interesting to see your reactions to this performance. It's definitely one of his best performances. His performance of Empty Rooms in Stockholm in 1987 is another masterpiece from his rock days in the 80's.

Absolutely love this song and Gary Moore's ability to cry through his guitar. This song and "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak were popular around the time I was enduring a particularly painful heartbreak and they became the soundtrack to my life. It still brings tears to my eyes when I hear either song.

Thanks for featuring one of my best all time favorites, Gary Moore with Still Got the Blues. I heard this way back Mid-90’s and I can still feel the times way back then. Can you then react to Dire Strait’s Sultanate of Swing pretty please? Thank again and kudos to you both!

Ahh Gary M ... sorely missed ... should listen to "Still in Love With You" live when he was a member of Thin Lizzy ... beautiful and the guitar I'm sure is the ex Peter Green (original Fleetwood Mac) Gibson Les Paul

One of the finest guitarists ever !!! I'd easily rank him above several who always get recognised in the so-called top 10 guitarists of all time - Gary was the master of sustain on his guitars,and he could literally burn a guitar up with his speed and technique. What an awesome vocalist as well,whether it be on his all out hard rockers,his power ballads or his more blues inspired numbers,what a loss to the world when he passed away.

I love the way most people want to put labels on genres of music. FYI, just about all of what people call "rock" is based on "blues".

Gary like many of the great guitar players of that time had his own guitar sound. He also sang with such feeling. We were truly blessed with so much talent back then. The lead singer of Thin Lizzy also died young.
