Hello.
If you are a fan of the channel, then you probably have seen my Pontiac Firebird reviews (1st generation) as well as my Hot Wheels Elite KARR (Knight Rider) review. I'd figured I would add an older Pontiac, with great style and substance as well in an excellent looking color and variant.
Take a look at the 1966 Pontiac GTO!
Have a few Ertl models, but this one is using Highway 61 tooling. HW61 were masters at American Muscle car diecast.
How did it fared though?
Check the video out and see if I like it (or skip to the end if you want to miss the highlights :-( ).

So let me explain the license plate, that was made as a thank you to the diehard GTO and diecast collector who helped me get all the things right on this one that I might have missed given its a GTO and not my normal Mopar or Ford release. His three initials and the #1. Not sure about the door, I wouldnt let it ship with it not closing but maybe on a level surface it will close fine for display.

Ahhh thought they were your initials lol. And yeah, door is loose but not loose enough to open all the way by itself. It can definitely stay closed. This one turned out so nice that I'm struggling not to get one of the pro touring ones... 😲👀😬 Thanks!

Nice model. The interior holds up to scrutiny, which is what you want with a convertible. Folded soft-top could be better. Beautiful styling by Pontiac.

Agree. Probably one of the prettiest interiors. A soft top would be super cool.

Beautiful piece, although I prefer the hardtop. It's a shame about these details like the misalignment in the passenger door and the loose headlight lens, I believe that a little glue could fix the lens in place. One more like!

Yes. I'm thinking HARD not to get another one!! The lens actually snapped into place lol. So no issues there. The biggest thing is the door and it's ok, I can live with that 😬 Thanks!

Looks like acme doesn't have any rotating drive shaft, even with all highway 61 casting. Also the top of the windshield looks weird, seems like they're just cutting the hardtop version. If they added the soft top it would be great. The rest is great detail, especially interior.👍

The conversion is not done by Acme btw, but by YCID (one man operation). It actually turns quite good IMO. A soft top would def be cool. And yeah, it's weird that Acme does that on some of their cars. Maybe cost cutting... Thanks!!

Good old GTO...great ride with a lot of style. When I see a car like this I ask myself "Why Pontiac doesn't exist anymore?". That split grille alone could sell millions of cars, but it's not 1966 anymore... it's 2024 and the majority of cars look like a bean or something 😟

You might be doing a disservice to beans... 😋😬
