Dear Wacom, please let Brian do all your unboxings from this point forward. I've been a Wacom user since my old Intuos 2 6x8, and have owned plenty of Cintiqs, including the 22HD, 13HD, and 13HD Touch. I recently switched to the iPad Pro (12.9) as I began to grow tired of the parallax I experienced with my Cintiqs, and I threw my Intuos Pro into a drawer over a year ago due to a dead Wireless module. It appears Wacom has quite literally answered my prayers, and has produced a badass Cintiq with no parallax in the Cintiq Pro line, and has rekindled my interest in the Intuos line by engineering a smaller footprint, including Bluetooth connectivity, and even going with a Type-C connector, as I'm one of those crazy idiots who purchased a 2016 MacBook Pro. Kudos to Wacom, and to Brian's awesome videos for making me a believer again!

Excellent video! Thank you for posting this. I just got mine today for Valentines Day and I am in love with it. There are so many settings and tools. The drawing was absolutely seamless and I love that you can edit the drawing step by step in the app as well. Super cool! Can't wait to see what I can create with this!
You left out the most important feature, showing us the drawing on paper and how it translates to computer! I would like to see how well this actually works.

All my photo editing has been done on the Apple Trackpad and I wanted to try a Wacom tablet, so I went cheap and bought a Intuos Photo. It felt very different using it. As it should being the first time using it. I felt frustrated using it only because I was flying blind and didn't understand all the workings and settings. An old dog learning new tricks. I'll stick with it this year as one of my goals to master as I know it will give me a more procise editing results.
Honestly, Mykal, the best thing you can do to get used to a pen tablet is to lock that mouse or trackpad away in a closet and force yourself to use it. Muscle memory is very strong and you will fidget and fumble but if it's a workflow that you really want to incorporate, it'll happen. And you're right - the amount of precision a pen gives you is incomparable, especially when masking. Let me know how it goes.

Agreed that this is the most beautiful tablet. One thing I really don't like about the Intuos 5 is that the express keys feel like rubber. I hope this is easier to click and feels more steady.
Oooooooo......Look at the size of it! As an amateur digital artist who HATES tablets so small you run off the screen with your pen, I can say with 100% certainty that come Feb 2018 this baby is MINE.

You might have prepared the light a little better. When you say, "as you can see...", we can often see nothing, because the tablet surface and buttons are just black. So a sidelight to create some highlights and shadows would probably have made the outlines of the buttons visible.
Thanks for your explanation about how to configure wireless mode. There's no manual included which describes how to connect by pressing 6 seconds the main button. So thank you for helping me out of frustration. :-)
I was told the fine tip pen and wacom Paperclip accessories were to be on the store by late January or early February but it's Late February and there's nothing on the store.
Vincent Bekong good question. It does. You'll be able to purchase the gel ink pen and accessories to use the Paper Edition functionality after the fact. I believe it'll be sold as an add-on in Wacom's eStore.
thank you very much. That is Wacom's problem, they release the product on their online store but they do not release their corresponding accessories at the same time and that can be very troublesome and inconvenient.
I ordered one but it's not out in stores here in Australia so I preorder it yesterday cause the store finally knew what I was talking about. Watching your video really makes me excited for when I finally get mine and can use it.
I think I'm messing up a step or so with the Bluetooth part? LE IntuosPro L and BT IntuosPro L pops up but I paired it to BT IntuosPro L like I saw in your video. Even though it says connected I'm not able to use the tablet wirelessly. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry for the trouble.
I don't see the texture sheets for sale yet. Does a texture sheet actually replace the original surface that comes with the tablet, or does it just lay on top of the original surface? If it actually replaces the original it seams like a good way to prolong the life of the tablet; I could replace it if the original gets too scuffed up. But if it just goes on top of the original like a protective layer then I'm thinking I should wait until the the sheets are up for sale before I buy the tablet at all. Please let me know how the texture sheets work.
Xury Greer to be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I haven't seen the actual texture sheets in person yet and don't know how they will be applied. And you're correct, they're not for sale yet.
Alright, thanks anyway. I was just thinking if you were intended to remove the original sheet it would be pretty obvious that you could do so. That makes me think it's more likely that it goes on top of original rather than replaces it. If that's the case I will hold off on purchasing the new tablet until those sheets are available. I will also try to call Wacom support tomorrow and see if I can get an answer there. Thanks. :)
What is the difference between the working area of Intuos 5 large vs Intuos pro large? The same which you show in the video. I am planning to upgrade but I like the large working area as I use two 24" monitors? The answer will be appreciated!
thanks for the review. I would recommend all the users to pay attention on the paper holder. Unfortunately the design is wrong because the small plastic elements of the movable part are extremely weak and are in contact with big steel needles. This concept make the mechanism extremely weak and in my case not durable. It broke down after 2 days even though I was using it with the care you can expect from someone excited for his new tablet.

Dessa Bailey Unfortunately, no. You're required to use the gel ink pen that comes with the Paper Edition. You can certainly use any pen/pencil but the Intuos Pro will only recognize/digitize strokes made with the bundled gel ink pen.
Lukas The tablet for the latest gen Intuos Pro and Intuos Pro Paper Edition are the same. The Paper Edition simply comes bundled with the accessories required for recording illustrations/notes using the included Wacom gel ink pen. However, those accessories will be available for purchase in the Wacom eStore soon.

I got Intuos Pro Paper edition Medium and does anyone have any idea how the other surfaces (smooth, rough) will be working ? I can;t get straight answer from poor wacom support! Will I have to remove existing standard surface and then apply new one just like is was with intuos 4. Or new surfaces will go on top of the one that is standard? If so it's quite stupid because it will raise the height.
When ever you can't get answers to questions, go to there Facebook page and complain... You will get an answer right away, by someone that speaks english:-)

Fair question but it's not too early. I've been using versions of this tablet for a few weeks now at work. In terms of differences, the biggest one by far is the form factor. The new Large (and Medium) is soooo much smaller and thinner than my predecessor, so that's nice. Anything that takes up less space on my desk is appreciated. In terms of performance, to be honest, most of that has always been lost on me because I work primarily with sliders and only brush for masking purposes. So, to that end, it feels the same. I will say that the surface of the tablet feels better but I'll likely change it out for the Rough version when it ships.
Thank you for the quick reply! Form factor is definitely very important to me as well (I make music so midi keyboard and drumpad take up a lot of valuable space already), but I'm just not sure that the relatively big difference in price between this and the previous version is worth it.
About the battery since there is no battery slot on the back I'm curious maybe its hiding under the surfacepad could you check it for me ? ,I'm living in third world country and not sure they will have battery service it is valuable information for me.
What's the difference between the Pro and the Pro "paper" edition? I mean, the tablets are exactly the same right? Only the paper edition add some features to draw, but without using them is just the Pro version?

I have this paper edition tablet 2017. Does anyone of you know what is wrong with my tablet if the green cross light doesn't switch on when i pass my fine tip pen? sometimes it does, but most of the time it doesn't work. I already bought a new fine tip pen, because Wacom suggested me to try it with a new pen. The green cross appears more often, but when i draw, the lines are not complete (they have gaps). I'm desperate because Wacom says it will cost too much to fix it (without telling me what the problem exactly is).

Have you used the older intuos pro model? Im planning on replacing my old 2nd gen bamboo fun tablet for an intuos pro. I can't find reviews of experiences between the new and old intuos pro model (I know the difference in specs, but I want to know how it feels (I cant try them in a shop, because my country sucks haha)). The older model is about 100€ cheaper.. would it be worth to spend an extra 100€ for the newer model and why?
I have both, its effectively the same tablet inside, (Forget all the marketing hype about pressure bollox) it has the same touch, same buttons, same scroll wheel just without the paper feature. Also the wireless is now bluetooth where as the older one uses a small dongle.
if its worth anything to you, I had the older one, sold it to get the new one. The new one had lumps on two units, so sent back and bought the old one again, I'm now happy.

I bought this tablet, but the cable was missing. I have been refunded for the cable but I can't find the cable I need for this tablet (Wacom Intuos Pro paper edition Large). Do you know where I can buy one? Or what the cable might be called?
Do they old grip/classic/airbrush pens (introduced with intros 4, but compatible up to Intuos Pro) work with the new Pro? (presumably at the old ~2000 level of pressure). Or does Wacom have plans to update any of them to the new standards. Because that classic pen is sooo nice.
There is limited support for the Pro Pen on the new devices but you won't get nearly the same pressure or tilt support. I'm not sure about the older/custom pens, though.
Hi Brian, i did ask a q on your blog page, then watched the whole video and it was answered, Anyhoo i have a second Q, which isn't answered, you showed inkspace to show the uploading of the drawings from the gell pen drawings . Now I personally won't ever use the wacom cloud for anything, i have zero need for it. So can i still use the ink part without the need of a wacom id?
Is the actual tablet part of the paper edition the same as the regular version? So it's the addition of the clip and gel pen that enable the 'Paper' features?
You mentioned one and two when demonstrating the nibs. I didn't realize you where talking about a pen you had already. Also, there is an ink pen/gel that is different. Important Question: How's the "feeling" when you use the pen over the tablet WITHOUT THE PAPER?.. Is it as smooth as the previous Intuos Pro one (Aka one with the glossy/smooth/soft/noiseless like surface) or is it rigid and a bit noisy like a Wacom Intuos Manga?.. I'm thinking of buying the Non-Paper model of this new tablet but doubtful about the feeling etc...
If you have any input, please tell Wacom to stop messing with the hotkeys. I know most artists don't use them but I live by them, and it's so annoying that they FINALLY got them right on last gen's intuos, and then they ruin them again by making them more gummy like the Intuos 4's buttons.
Sai NX the Pro Pen 2 is not backwards compatible with previous Wacom tech. It currently works with the new Intuos Pro, the Cintiq Pro 13/16 and the MobileStudio Pro. As for the ink pen, you have to use the Wacom Pen supplied with the Paper Edition tablet. 3rd Party ink pens will not work.
I install the tablet, but the set up wizard does not show up at all after restarting? Does anyone know how to resolve this issue. My computer runs windows 10.
actually now I managed to fix the issue. it's crazy how precise this tablet is. Some say the pen pressure difference is not noticeable from previous wacom tablets but it is! This tablet for me this feels so close to paper, even the texture!
I'm looking to replace my intuos 5 but do not know whether to buy the old intuos pro model or this new intuos pro model. Is the surface of this new intuos pro the same to the intuos 5 or more slippery? or does the old intuos pro model have the same surface as the intuos 5? i love the surface of the intuos 5. also one of the reasons my intuos 5 broke was because when I dropped it just once the USB connection inside the tablet broke which I googled later to be a common problem between the old intuos pro model and the intuos 5. Do you notice that the USB port inside this new tablet wiggles like the older models or has it been improved and stuck firmly into place? just wondering, and awesome review! really in depth (:
+Aimee Fritz I find the surface of both tablets to be comparable. In other words, I don't feel any difference between my older Intuos 5 and this new one. Plus, this new one supports replacing the surface with a smoother or rougher one, so that's always nice. The USB-C cable snaps in quite firmly, too. FWIW, I feel that it's a totally worthwhile upgrade from the 5.

Is Intuos worth such a big price difference of cca 250$? That's a lot of money to cash out so i hope you understand my problem. Is anyone here using Deco Pro to say few words about it?
So why cant those of us with older tablets be able to purchase get different types of surfaces for our tablets. Mine is the pth-850 and I can't get different surfaces for mine. I guess wacom is trying to force me to buy a new tablet. Come on wacom these things run 500 each at launch...
you can draw with it like any other drawing tablet with hand-eye coordination. The paper is an added extra. For you to draw and sync your drawings to screen for easy editing.
Can i use the Intuos pro paper edition without the paper added just as the regular drawing tablet? i want the paper edition but not sure if i would use the paper as often.
Jack Smith absolutely. The tablet with the Standard and Paper Edition is identical. The key difference is with the accessories included with the Paper Edition.
So, new Intuos Pro is everything that Intuos Pro 5 should have been for the past 2 years: no stupid radio dongle and ridiculously thick edges. Too bad I have bought Pro 5 exactly a year ago and it feels very outmoded. Nice review, though
