Manulife has my VISA card and also direct withdraws my life insurance premium every month from my chequing account. So if they need to charge me anything, they always can. So when you sign up for the program it's 2 years. They send you the watch (you pay only the tax and whatever "extra" it is for the more premium watch options, like larger size or better model, etc). The cheapest basic watch is practically free (you pay around $30 which is only the retail tax on the value of the cheapest watch which is about $250 now). You have to achieve 500 points per month to get the watch free. If you do not exercise at all, they charge you $10.75 that month. If you exercise and get 240 points that month you pay $8.50, and if you get 360 points that month you pay $5.50. At 500 points you pay $0. So if you do not exercise at all, imagine over 24 month period 24 x $10.75 = $258. Basically if you do not exercise at all, you just end up buying the watch at full cost. The incentive is that the more you exercise, the less you pay, and if you can achieve 500 points monthly over the entire 24 month period, the watch is FREE! Then you just order another watch (every 2 years) and do the same, you can keep getting more watches this way and stay updated to the latest model.
