Yeah, but for the cost I think you paid a lot more than you would have it you just got a nice No 1 Mk 3. I paid 350 a year ago and it was very good, but I got lucky at auction.
For mine I picked up one of the DP magazines on apex for $25, they advertise them as dented and rusty, but mine came packed in cosmoline with no dents or rust. All I needed to do with it is spend 10 minutes adjusting the feed lips, and now it’s good to go.
I remember picking up a Magazine for my No 1 from Numrich Gunparts for 20.00. IDK if they have anymore in stock. But just a heads up for next time. The Prestious Wood stocks are AWESOME!!! But for some weird reason, they don't fit well with the BSA No.1 Mk. 3 . I had to do a lot of sanding and carving to make mine fit right. But man! I'm glad your restoring your old lady. I'll be honest! Those Ennie need some TLC to bring them back to par or better.
Yeah I checked there first, they had repro ones for about $40. Good to know on the fitment, mine is a BSA as well. I agree, it'll definitely need some TLC to get it back to safe functioning condition.
I used PWS for my No1 and it was a ton of work, looks ok but a lot of mods. Like the cheeks etc. Personally wouldn't do it again but I had a sporter that needed new wood anyway. Got my hardware from Marstar here in canada. Good luck with your project.
I was on their website many times when i was in the search for a no4 mk1 forend..as those are worth their weight in gold these days. Ending up getting lucky on ebay with a take off set someone was selling for like 100$. I always heard those new peices require a LOT of fitting. But nothing that cant be done. Have you thought of just going ahead and getting a new stock too? Could sell off your old peices then everything would be matching and nice. Either way itll come out looking good my man! Good luck
Yep, I hear you, I found two pristine No.1 Mk.4 forends out of the UK, I believe on eBay. Yep, I already thought about the buttstock, I actually have 4 new old stock ones to pick from. They are No.1 Mk.4's and will work with a slight modification, and they can actually be had reasonably cheap from Century Arms.
Too bad your DP wood was bad. I did a few projects where when it was all said and done I realized I spent way more money and especially time than just spending a bit more on a nicer one to begin with. Anyways hope it was fun and at least the bore was sharp.
What sucks is RTI is selling no1 mkIII mags separately right now so who knows if they pulled them out of the junk rifles and parted them out rather than keep them with the c grades.
