Super cool portable iron! I got similar and pretty sure this one has neat advanced smart settings. Like bumping up temp for few seconds when dealing with a stubborn soldering joint.

I'm using the older version of this one (only 400 C) for more than 5 years already and I'm very pleased of it. It just working no issues at all and on 400 degrees it doesn't become hot on the handle at all. Also the Idle mode is very useful between the soldering. I'm still working with it and I don't see the need to change it.

I'm into FPV Quadcopters and we love these kinds of things for field work. I've got a TS100 that I've had in my bag for the past 3 years and I can build a drone on a bench in the woods with it. These things are great

Id like to find the TS100 that comes in a carry case with the full selection of tips and a couple different cords to plug in with (barrel to wall adapter and barrel to battery pack) but I have not seen it since people reviewed it when it first came out. If you or anyone else knows anywhere that sells that set, please share the location! :) I do not mind if its another company making it as long as its comparable quality and on the stronger side if different power output, saw the TS80 has USB-C power input too but I am worried that the power reduction might be noticeable on a ground plane.

Great review mate. Just a heads up, this iron is just a rebranded TS100, so it works the same as the other TS100 etc. If memory serves me well, it should run from 12v - 24v, although when I had the official TS100 I "overclocked" mine to run on 28v, but the fets weren't keen and got pretty hot. It runs optimally on a bench PSU at around 19v Also those long T12 tips, they work perfectly fine on the FX-951 iron. I daily drive the T12 tips on my Hakko and in all honesty I've never burnt one out, but I have burnt out genuine tips. You can pick up a boat load of T12 tips for about $30 from Aliexpress Also you can install custom firmware to make it run at 450⁰C too which is nice to have 😉

ts100 doesn't have usb-c power, looks more like a pinecil than a ts-100 to me. In all honesty a pinecil could be called a ts100 "clone" but I think the pinecil is more capable and it is way cheaper than a ts100.

Definitely take a look at the Pinecil, it's similar to this iron but cheaper with all the same features and more! Also a really nice high temperature silicone USB-C cable.

"Need this" Wow, is that a good soldering iron. For my desktop motherboard repairs, my soldering iron often can't handle the temperatures exactly, which is still doable. Would love to get lucky though and have it be a chance at a new soldering iron for me. Find your videos very helpful and keep up the good work 😀👍

Jason, I have a similar iron called Pinecil. The B button is used to boost the temp up to the max. It looked like you were doing that some of the times that you couldn’t explain the temp going higher than was set.

The shorter tips are designed to be used with the TS-100 or Pine-64 Tips, so that thing is flexible enough to be used for tips made for different kind of system micro soldering irons

My TS80 got stolen alongside my toolbox last summer, it was the best soldering iron I got for mobile work. I need this but if in any case this seems like an improvement over TS80, so I will consider getting one of these instead. Wish they made a hot air gun this size too lol.

Hello Can someone tell me why it shows firmware update when I put my other non origin 120w USB a to c cable in the soldering iron, is the a function that it goes to solder mode instead, with my origin cable it works normal,but I would like to have other options on cables beside the original. 🤔

Curious if the iron can be powered by the charger for the batteries? I've seen chargers with that connector that have variable power outputs to charge different batteries. Much like your power supply, just with the correct connector.

I've seen a few people using that iron and they seem happy with it. The 19v laptop chargers are often ideal and very common. But i'm an old stick in the mud, so my 250 volt iron is good enough for my use.

250v? Input or output? Is the iron as thick as your thumb and directly plugs into the wall without any circuitry? Found one from early days of soldering, was a seriously thick tip with a wood grip and cord coming out the back. Anything else controlling it would be inside the metal but no signs of anything visible - makes me wonder if it was hand made or one of the first/early mass productions.

you can use both tips same time using capton tape to wrap outside of the long tip to prevent short circuite.

Those T12 tips are almost indestructible. I recently had a faulty iron and the whole tip became red hot and the tip still works as before so setting it to 400 plus C is not a problem at all.

I do all my micro soldering with the ST100. Lot of tips, never had to change the position of the clips. You can override the firmware with a custom one, lot of options and more heat if needed. Ramps up to 400C in seconds, much faster then this one.

What make station you use regularly? Using Hakko here but we only work on communications and satellite equipment. This one looks like a nice general purpose iron. The multiple means of charging is neat too

Nice review. 👍🏽 That kind of soldering irons interest me only due to the portability. I still wouldn’t replace it over any of the cheap china stations I have used for years. If I’m honest I prefer cheap china over the hakko. I just love being able to customize my tips shape because cheap china tips are solid copper and super cheap. I have my goto shape that I wish I could patent. 😆

This is my second time watching this video so sorry if I already put this info out there. I have had this iron for over a year & it has been my daily driver. Until this week I only had two tips (both ts100 style). I bought a pinecel a couple weeks before I bought this & wanted see the difference. They are both close enough I could suggest either but I prefer this. I had just bought some T12 tips to try & I like them. I also bought a HS01 tip which works great but I will need to make a stop for it. They are cheap & work amazing. So my pinecel will become dedicated to HS01 tips & my SQ to T12 tips. Bye bye to expensive TS100 tips. LOL I will run off a PD charger but I suggest using a barrel connector attached to a PD trigger. The strain will kill your USB port quickly. Barrel plugs are cheap & I bought the cheapest. It is still holding up after a year of use.

I just got soldering station now I didn’t thought of hot air gun station which I should have buy one but too late I bought jusr soldering station which call Schneider.. I’m disappointed there’s no hot air station. Bummer. I have to wait till next month to buy hot air station lol. Anyway I alway motivation watch your good video work with those repair etc…. And other video
