the instructions that came in box were great for setting up printer. The reason I viewed this tutorial was because I was not sure how to open the lid of printer. I didnt realize I just need to be a little forceful to open it all the way. I was afraid I would break the opening of the lid, I was not sure if there was something else that needed to be removed in order to open all the way.
Ok if anyone can help me I would really like to know WHY I’m having trouble printing from my computer? I called Epson and they couldn’t help me. I have Wi-Fi on my computer. Epson had me putting in the password for Wi-Fi. in the printer It’s that right? Please I need help. Thank you 🙏
This printer has two kinds of wireless printing: your home network (wireless) and a network on the printer itself. I could be that your printer doesn’t pick up the signal from your network at home and automatically makes a connection to the WiFi-direct (network on the printer). The problem is if you aren’t aware of that and your computer is connected to your home network your computer can’t ‘find’ the printer. My mom has an Epson printer and she had the same problem. So I’ve told here: “If the printer doesn’t print, connect your laptop to the WiFi-Direct and print again.” She can do that, because in her house there is only one laptop and one person who uses the printer. In my house that solution won’t work. If my, let’s say, phone is connected to the WiFi-direct my husband CAN’T use the printer, because the WiFi-direct can only be connected to one phone/laptop. Unfortunately our printer doesn’t automatically goes to ‘home network’ when I disconnect with the WiFi-direct and that’s really annoying ‘cause I have to set up the password again 😒 It’s important to say that I currently own a Canon printer and my mom an Epson. With her printer it dóes automatically switches to the other network. I hope you understand what I’m trying to explain, because this is something I recently discovered with my own printer after having the damn thing for 6 years now 🫣
The app is compatible with Apple. I just got my printer last week and set it up using my iPhone with no issues. Setup was very easy with the app. Haven’t tried with my iPad yet. So far, I’m pretty happy with my purchase. Enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting!
You didn't show what to unpack inside the printer and how did you set it up with your phone? The LCD screen asks if I want to set using the Epson Smart Panel app. You didn't mention that. If I say yes, I get a QR code. So not helpful at all.
You didn't explain how to ensure that the ink levels are reset once you top up the tanks , you have to go back into the printer menu "Maintainence/Set Ink Level" to ensure the app is reading the full ink levels once you top it up !!
I just recently got this. It seemed to get overall good reviews, the genuine inks were reasonably priced and were larger than some of the other manufacturers of ink tank printers. The maintenance cartridge (which is there to catch ink from when head cleaning takes place) is user replaceable and is very cheap, whereas on some brands of printer it needs to be sent away to get replaced and at a considerable cost too. Whether or not I would need to replace the maintenance cartridge is unsure, but its good to know its user replaceable and very cheap if it does. First impressions are very good. Easy set up as was the ink refilling, really nice sharp text printouts. Briefly tried some graphics printout and I was very impressed also. The scanner seems very good as is the photocopying (both of which I use from time to time). I photocopied the included quick start guide that came with the printer which is in black-and-white and the photocopy I did looked darker and more bold and clear than the original document, which really impressed me. Hopefully this will last me for many years as we are not heavy users.
If the app had worked, I wouldn't need a video. Mine won't because it's stuck on wanting the firmware updated. It says "connect to computer" but make sure it's "not connected to computer". If given the choice of setting up a printer or removing my own appendix with a dull rusty spoon, I'm going with the appendectomy.
I have this same exact printer but it's called L4260 where I'm at. Fully satisfied with it, didn't have to fiddle around with the usb connections to the computer. all wi-fi baby
You really helped me, the instructions showed an arrow like something on the plastic hinge inside the printer needed to be removed and also the cellophane around the cream cords in the very front looked like it needed to be removed, so showing the inside of your printer really helped. I made it half way through the app set up but it wouldn't connect my wifi, so I did that manually on the front of the printer. Also, my warranty is only for 1 year, so that may have changed since you made the video. Great job! Thanks
I just finished setting my new ET 2850 up. i used the Smart Panel App and it was really easy. I also found out that I don't have to turn it off. After I do a print job it will go to sleep on its own and awaken again when I send another print job to it.
not bad for your first video on youtube. however it leaves a lot of details unanswered. For example how do you set the wifi password for the thing. how long until you take the bottles of ink out. is it easy to mess up eg put wrong color in container. can it print a5 did you solve the color offset from the manual eventually and if so how? what desktops can it interact with.
I’ve just had a look 👀 in… on the epson apps for iPad Pro. There’s quite a lot on there; but i find now, i don’t really need 1 of those. Just use your imagination to set it up. All is good now. Printing on office paper is good 👍 but obviously not as good as printing on gsm 170-200 Friday am 21st October 2022. U.K. Southampton
i don’t seem to have any issues with my Epson ET 2850 printer; not as yet anyway. It prints pretty well; either on plain office paper or with 120 gsm. ( slightly thicker). It’s a shame though, that this particular printer is not able to print on A3 ( slightly larger than A4) other than that I’m quite happy with it. There’s always the Cannon printer or HP. How much gsm can this printer print? I have a Epson L3110 i tried to print using 260 gsm photo paper and apparently the scratches from the ruler is visible when done printing..
It does “YES” print from an IPhone 13 pro, it has “NO” USB port (other than the slot on the side for a printing cable) For the price I paid, I considered it too greedy of Epson therefore, I returned it.
The biggest drain in the ink was from initializing it. I think that's why the bottles hold a little more than you can fill at one time. You initialize the ink then add the remaining ink from the bottles and you're back to full. The printing of pages didn't use much ink.
I set mine up today, went to print a photo and it printed off colour. Did a nozzle check and there are segments missing. Seems to be missing magenta and also black! Also when i read descriptions i thought it had a paper tray to hold all your A4 so you dont have to keep loafing the paper every time ?
thank you so much for this video!! I usually procrastinate set ups like these because they can be so confusing and stressful but your video helped me set it up sooo quickly!!
Your video skips one of the most important part and that is setting up and app and initiating the ink. I am in the process of doing that and it seems to me that initiating is taking forever. I wish your video shows me how.
Yeah mine must be broken. It only gives an invalid paper reading. This set up was incredibly hard for me. The printer and app were fighting with the wifi despite our wifi not having a password. Unfortunately I'm unable to use this printer due to the fact that it won't load the paper at all. What a waste of money.
Sound like you received a defective unit, with regards to it been unable to load paper at all. Are you not supposed to use the password that is on the sticker underneath the scanner for wifi printing/wireless printing?
I’ve just bought, this epson printer; although unfortunately having to set it up manually. Not able to get the app on my iPad Pro. Not sure about WiFi. Saturday am 30th April 2022. U.K. 🇬🇧 Southampton
Great setup video. In regard to voice enabling, I'd see being able to say to Google "Hey Google print out my shopping list" would be cool. Hey "Google print out my itinery". Cheers!
Well… I’ve managed to get my epson ET2850 printer up & running, with WiFi; and i must say that I’m quite impressed in a way. Going through the settings is a bit of a pain. ( not using the app) but all in all; no issues with printing….as yet. At the moment; I’m using cheap supermarket ( Tesco) thin paper to print on; as opposed to Epson premium paper; whether it’s gloss or Matt. But the results are still pretty good using this cheap paper. All the colours are exactly the same as on the photo kept on my iPad Pro. The only difference being in… is the colour saturation. ( not all that deep) But i would imagine that, might have something to do with that very thin cheap Tesco paper ( A4 ) and also, there is no evidence of grain in the photo. To sum it all up; I’m quite pleased with this printer; even though it’s not exactly the top of the range. But I’m not particularly bothered about that; as long as i can print photos from my iPad Pro.. I’m quite happy with it. Will try the Epson premium glossy paper next time; and see what that’s like. Thanks for sharing your video.👍 Saturday afternoon at 17:31H. April 30th 2022. U.K. 🇬🇧 Southampton
So many reviews of printers on RU-vid and you all make the same mistake we can not see the quality of the printer if you do not print a photo on photo paper. Thanks anyway.
Could you tell me (demonstrate maybe) how the automatic duplex works please. I've seen videos of manual mode where you remove the paper and re-load it but nothing on the automatic mode. (That usually suggests that it isn't exactly what it says).
urgent Hello Can you please give me some advice? After my printer experienced an ink alarm, I purchased new ink from Epson. The problem is that the colors pink and blue don't fill in. I think there is a problem with my tank. I didn't really know what to do. I've done all the necessary troubleshooting with the printer, I mean maintenance required and... But it doesn't work. It shows that there is ink, but I know there is some ink missing in printer. It no longer prints in color. I bought this print last year in March. I would be very grateful for your help. I have translated from German to English in case it is not well written.
@@ItsNabeel Thank you for your quick reply. I'm having another issue wonder if you might be able to help me. When I set up the printer with the app I set up my home laptop ( a mac) all was well. Then I started working from home with a work laptop (PC) connected with a cable. Now it won't scan to my personal computer and won't scan to my work computer saying check the connection ( which is fine). How do I have both computers connected? Sorry if too much :-)
Thnx, it was very helpful. Only the process with the app did cost some time (and frustration) but at the end it worked. Nice way how you present this video, easy to follow.
Perfect compact printer for my apartment. Comes with 6 months free printer ink and online capability to print from phone, laptop and ipad from anywhere. Setup was easy and quality is good. Also comes with a scanner.
Today, I purchased an ET2850 printer and set it up as per the instructions provided. I was excited to use it to print high-quality photos on glossy photo paper. However, I encountered an issue that I need assistance with. When I attempted to print on glossy photo paper, the output exhibited a peculiar problem. The photos turned out with noticeable cut lines, as if a sharp blade had sliced through the paper. This issue is affecting both the inside and outside of the paper. While the photo print quality itself appears to be good, the presence of these cut lines is detracting from the overall quality of the output. It's not the outcome I was hoping for when I invested in this printer, and I'm unsure how to resolve this issue. I am reaching out to seek your guidance and assistance in rectifying this problem. Could you please provide me with instructions on how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue? I want to ensure that the printer is functioning correctly and that I can enjoy the full benefits of high-quality photo printing on glossy paper. Your help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance
I started setting my printer up according to the sheet instructions and my ipad....the screen on the printer keeps saying setting up do not turn off. and my screen on ipad says ready for ink installation. can I do the ink while the blue light is flashing on the screen with that message not to turn off.
All the EcoTank printers are easy to setup via hard wire and easy wireless if you have a WiFi arrangement. We use cell phone hotspots so wireless is not an option. We like the print quality but even using Epson ink our 2803 requires cleaning a lot which uses more ink. The print head clogs a lot. If it keeps working a few years (which I doubt) and saves money on ink we'll be happy.
The printer does not play well with dual-band routers. I had to split mine (2.4/5) with separate pwd. Connected to the 2.4 side and all is finally well after weeks of pulling my hair out.
Thank you for this review. Very informative, and helpful. I don't care for the idea of only one paper supply access, oh well... . I know that "OTHER EPSON" Eco-Tank do have a removable/replaceable maintenance box. I'm guessing since I can't yet find any information about that for this specific model of Epson, it doesn't have one. Unfortunately that's another negative for me. It also says on Epson's web page for this printer that it has "Auto 2-sided printing". One of the comments below says it doesn't print 2-sided unless you re-feed the sheet? If that's the case, that's 3 strikes for me, and it's out of the running for me as a new printer... . I am currently using a Canon iP4300 {broken now though} that prints both side without re-loading and that thing is so old, maybe 2008 purchase? What's up with Epson? Still, thanks a lot for the review. I had high hopes in replacing my OLD OLD Canon iP4300 with something that doesn't cost me $80.00 to replace the 5 stinking cartridges every 6 months! Also, not sure this is correct or accurate, but in these large quantity Eco tank/Mega Tank printers, since the tanks aren't on the printhead specifically, the piping/tubing has to fill the small reservoir heads that do ride on the print head, and that uses up more ink initially. In addition, some cleaning, or deep cleaning functions can use a PRODIGIOUS AMOUNTS of ink, SO BEWARE going wild on deep cleaning, etc... . It's supposed to be mentioned in the instructions, but that's INFORMATION I can't attest to since I don't own one .. yet. PLUS, if the "waste" ink isn't going into a maintenance box on this model, then it must be going into a "diaper?" which I also understand is common with the less expensive printers, and could also be de rigueur for Canon printers regardless of cost. Sorry for the long rant, but since I'm looking for a new printer, I've had to spend a lot of time watching videos, and listening to folks mention the good and the bad. Unfortunately, the bad mentioned across the boards for the major manufacturers of printers, Epson, Brother, Canon, etc.. ., seem to hint that no matter what you purchase, who you purchase from, and no regardless of cost, you are NOT guarantee a printer that will work perfect out of the box and/or will continue working GREAT for any real length of time. Very sad commentary on current printer manufacturers products imo.
@@ItsNabeel Nabeel, I opted for a new Canon MF742dw B/W laser/scanner/copier at Wally Mart for a C-note. Price was right, and so far it works great. No color, but I think if I need color at some point, I'll be sure to look at the Epson EcoTanks. They seem like a good way to go, ink cost wise. Thanks for the solid review you provided on your purchase. :-)
Thanks for showing this printer. How good is this printer on ink? Would it use a lot of ink quickly for someone who prints a lot and often? Can it print a single side? Also how do you install the drivers with the CD when most of the new computers come without the slot where you would load the CD.
Followed everything step by step. Printed a chart and behind the graph bars, where its supposed to be white, its printed black. On certain images in the pdf white lines print. Not sure how to fix, using a Mac iOS
Just ordered it because we have a future RN Nurse finishing school and we need a more economical solution. The voice feature sounds interesting say if I asked google for driving directions or to print out my list which Google keeps memorized. Or perhaps the need to have a tangible shopping list around the hustle of the Holidays for Grocery shopping versus replacing pen and paper with fancy Samsung Notes Etc.
Many thanks Nabeel for you very clear review of the printer. I have just bought one and installation was seamless. I bought it because it had a small footprint in my home office and because of the eco tank inks. I got fed up with the cartridges in my former printers. Never had an Epson before so am looking forward to getting to know its quirks, if any.
Does anyone know how to change custom size (enlarge/decrease) on the printer panel? I changed it on the desktop in the printer prefenrences but it did not change the size of what i was trying to print. They showed instructions for other things but nothing else. This is a headache!!
Can you also explain why this brand new "et-2850" printing colour and Black and White with a blue tint? I've never had a printer do this before. Not even an old one.
@kosterix123 My pleasure. No suggestions for modern printers. I wanted to get one of the new large ink tank machines. But I'm not prepared to pay ridiculous prices for one. I've had to gall back on my old Canon. Whilst excellent for photographs, it has the smallest tanks I've ever seen.Canaon MG7150. The best printer I've ever had is the Canon Pixma iP6700D. Larger ranks. But after 15 perfe the years, the head failed. Bought a new one but it was useless. Good luck.
@@olddanb1 I've had my cards professionally printed on A4 sheets but their quality of paper is questionable (you pay for 120gsm but you receive only 10% on 120gsm the rest is unknown, maybe 100gsm). I bought a set of 120gsm paper, the difference is clear (less bending, feels sturdier). I guess I'll order an epson. Only hear horror stories on canon. pixma was supposedly the best. Brother is a demon from hell, very unreliable.
In my previous Epson printer when I sent a print I used to get a preview display on my laptop showing ink levels and any problems but I can't see a similar display with this new printer.
I just bought this printer today , partly because of this review. Easy to setup with the Android App. No issues. Prints great. Will be using 3rd party ink when the Epson runs out. Even updated the firmware. Mine is black .. I started the printer first after powering on , then installed the ink as per the steps on the android app Epson Smart Panel
Should the plastic cover that covers the buttons and monitor be removed? On the demo, I noticed you removed a small piece from the monitor which I did also but there is more plastic which may or may not be intended to be permanent. It makes an irritating noise when using the buttons. Thanks
Trying to copy one page, I press 1:1 not 2:1 but it keeps asking for a second page to print and then prints the page I want twice on one side of paper. How do I turn this off it’s driving me mad and makes me not want to use the printer. Please help!!
@@ItsNabeel My app won't let me set up. It keeps saying my smart phone signal isn't strong enough even though I have full bars :( Is anyone else having this issue???
