*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*
*Great **Generater.Systems** . Our 1st 2500W Champion backed us up with hurricane Ida last August when our whole home generator crapped out after 8 days. Love the dual fuel. Hope to never run gasoline in it.Bought this 2500W to parallel with our other one for the RV.*
It is SO refreshing to watch a video by someone who actually know what he is talking about. Thank you. You definitely know small gas engine mechanics and how to properly maintain the those motors
This generator is a beast. I haven't got to use it yet cuz I wanna change the gas and oil first cuz it's been sitting for a year when I bought it, but we paid 500 for this generator with wheel kit and battery, and it was only used once
mine is about 6 years old now and love it. its a strain when i do it but it will run everything at one time. 220 a/c stove and hot water heater all at the same time. because i tried it. just to see. but i only use the 220 when we need it and then turn them off. i have used it for days at a time. when we lost lights. i start mine every month and let it run about 30 minutes.

I have this generator and I wired into my detached garage breaker panel my main is 60amp and my wall outlets are 20 amp lights are 15 amp but my principal 30 amp is what I had my old upright compressor hooked up to. Now I have my 30amp principal hooked up to my Reliance 4 prong 30 amp wall outlet And 8 gauge through pvc conduit to my 100amp house panel where my other 60 amp breaker gives power to garage panel I turn main at house off and my Central air breaker off go out to garage. Start up my Predator 8750 a d plug in my 4 prong 25 ft cord to generator and wall outlet and it will run everything my hot water furnace stove and dryer are NG. My next project is to run 3/4” NG line out the back of my house w/shut off valve and quick connect to 1/2” NG hose 25 ft to my Regulator with a 1/2” to 3/8” reducer and one more shut off valve and if goes as planned I should be running mainly NG also can run LPG but won’t have to worry about having to keep getting gas and Propane I’ll just keep 5 gallons of gas with Stabil on hand and 4 propane tanks filled so I can run my grill and lawn mower. And occasionally run LPG and regular gas once in awhile. Anyway the Predator 8750/7,000 running watts is a very good generator and has a Honda clone engine so parts like duel carbs are only 35.00.
I just purchased this online. It was sold out since my area was just hammered with a snowstorm. I never had a generator before. I was hoping this could power my house, or at least most of it when the power is down for more than 8 hours since I have 3 kids. We’re in a townhouse so not too big of a house. How would I go about setting this up to run baseboard heaters/ A/C window units, tv’s, lights, internet? Obviously not all at the same time.
So it's okay to run full synthetic oil from day one? I always heard you want to do the break in process with conventional oil for a few hours then run synthetic.
On a monthly basis, start it up and let it run for awhile then shut the petcock off and let it use all the fuel in the carb. You shouldn't have any gumming issues.
dennis moreland I have recently found the gas station closest to me has 89 octane non ethanol fuel and its not much more than premium, so I've filled it with that. I do still pull it out and run it frequently and hook something to the generator to give it a little work out. Starts first pull every time.
I just got one of those Shumacher jump packs from work. The spring in the positive clamp is missing so it was not being used and we've since moved to the LiIon packs so they tossed it. I've been searching for a replacement spring for over a month now. It's a very good pack. Thanks for the review of the generator. Whatever happened to the 11K Predator? I never see them in the ads anymore.
hey i couldnt get ngk bpr5es 7422 went to honda dealer they cant get find or even able to get the one with 7422 number do they not make that one anymore so i got the ngk 7734 honda said its same thing what do u think.....also i got mine with 529 coupon to and i tired using the 20 percent for wheel kit and they wouldnt let me cause they sd u cant use 20 percent on anything predator brand how did u get to use it i wonder...also for breakin period how long did u or need to run it for ur breakin period and i noticed its a liitle hard to do without a hr meter on this machine wish it had 1 on it....did u use break in oil...i took my plug out that it came with and couldnt believe it came with a bosch plug seemed high quality i expected a chinese plug and ur right it was hard to ur hands on this after hurricane irma i got lucky went right when store opened and they just got 1 in and they had it on a cart getting ready 2 put on shelf and i told them i wanted it i got lucky it took me 2 months 2 get 1 and the stores still dont have them in sell as quick as they get them in... storm hit in early september and now its december and they still hard 2 find in stores
I have this generator, just did the oil break in, started first pull out of the box. It's not that loud. I need that wheel kit, mine days it weighs 236lbs, yours said 230lbs. Got mine Feb 2019, maybe a bigger fuel tank?

Niceee. I just bought the same generator from harbor freight , as I got the open box Special for $499. I fired it up for the first time last night for about 10 minutes. What is the recommendation for breaking the generator in

Aviation fuel is 100LL (low lead, but really has a lot of lead in it). I'd recommend you go to a fuel distributor, as additives like ethanol are usually added there. Many of our pilots with mogas STCs would do this to keep ethanol out of their airplanes... not legal to use that stuff anyway in the plane.
Brandon Albright haven't had to really use it thankfully. So I don't have a true update. But a local food truck around here has this exact one hanging off the back of his truck that constantly runs his whole truck and it's still kicking. It starts every time I try and run it once a month to keep everything moving.
yes !! ive ran no bad gas elonal free and stabel !! replaced the carb 2 times now in 5 years paid $450 for the 4000 watt gen now $280 2 times replacing the carb.. im looking into natural gas or propaine. but thats another $350
I have read that full synth is not good for initial break in. Have you heard this? The small generator I bought came with oil. I used that for about an hour and twenty minute break in. Then I changed the oil and put in full synth.
Deucealive75 I actually was advised against using full synthetic for break in periods by a couple guys at work so I did use regular conventional oil to break in and them changed to the full synthetic valvoline.
C Grimm NGK BPR5ES is the plug I used in the generator. I believe that the BPR5ES is the plug that comes factory in Honda push mowers. I just matched them side by side to confirm they're the same thread and length for the generator. Worked great.
Anybody notice a loose chrome metal plate inside the air filter box? Was gonna clean my filter, opened the air filter box and the metal plate fell out, can't figure out what it does. Manual doesn't say anything about it either.
It's a deflector plate....look at the manual for the nearly identical 6500/5500 model. Manual can be seen and downloaded from the web as a Pdf. It fits on the backside half of the air cleaner housing, closest to the carb, ....then the foam filter is placed on that....and finally the front half of the air cleaner cover, over all that.
The reason it has the large valve cover is it is a Hemi. They were originally imported to meet California's CARB requirements. Today, the wedge is the choice. There were rumors of the Hemi replacing the wedge, but it seems it is simply a second-source. You will see the same situation across other generator makes. If you check the HF catalog, you will see two EPA generators that seem with same with a different PN. One is a wedge, and the other is a Hemi. You can see that in the parts diagram in the users manual. The 420 builders say the Hemi didn't bring any real performance gains, and there is little available in the performance part market for them. Other than the head and matching piston, there is nothing different about the Hemi, including compression, timing, or carburetor. The Hemi is more associated with the 212 engine. Mine is a wedge, but I'd rather have a Hemi for a stock engine because I they are cool, different, and theoretically the best performing design for 2-valve-per-cylinder-pushrod engines.
ALISHA DARIN haven't heard of the wawa boat fuel. Any ethanol free fuel is perfect for engines in storage that don't see a lot of run time such as generators, power washers etc. I recently found the Citco gas station around the corner from me is carrying regular 87 ethanol free fuel. That's what I'm using now. It's stayed between 2.89-2.99$ a gallon so it's a very reasonable price.
Here's a another question: I just bought this generator and I did an initial 3 hour run to break in the engine. I noticed a small puddle of what looks like some sort of oil that came out of the air filter box. I took the air filter box apart and there was a good amount of oil coming from a rubber hose that's hooked to the gas tank. I didn't think this was normal so I exchanged the generator for another and it does the same thing. What in the world would be the cause of that oily residue/puddle inside the air filter box?
Ozzie Alarcon that's odd. You're making sure the oil is at the correct level right? If it's over filled it might make its way into the breather and then the air box. Check the manual and make sure you're reading the oil Level right. Some manufacturers say to screw the dipstick in, others tell you to check the level without screwing the dipstick in. Also if I remember right, this has a foam air filter or a foam pre-filter, most foam filters are lightly soaked in oil to help with filtration . if it's very light amout of oil it could be normal with a foam filter. If it's saturated, there might be an issue. But definitely check the oil level. Hope this helps.
The oil inside the air filter box is coming from a rubber hose that's attached to the gas tank on top. I initially thought the hose was some sort of gas tank venting system but I can't see why there's a small amount of oil entering the air filter box from that hose. This really has me stumped......
At 7:31 in your video you can see two hoses attached to the backside of your air filter box. The lower hose on mine is attached to the gas tank up top but I see your lower hose is coming from a different area. Nonetheless, that hose is where I have some sort of oily residue puddling inside the filter box.
Ozzie Alarcon you don't happen to live in California do you? I know they have California compliant models, wonder if yours is slightly different. Next time I'm out in the garage I'll look at that hose in the air box
I see that you use a NGK 7422 spark plug but when I cross referenced the original spark plug Torch F7TC I came up with the NGK BP7ES. Can you tell me how you came up with the BPR5ES ? I want to go with an NGK spark plug but want to make sure it is the right plug. Loved your video, very informative.
BPR5ES NGK is what majority of Honda small engines run. I believe the BP7ES is the same demensions but it might just be a newer design plug. I know harbor freight recently changed the engine setup on these generators so yours may cross to another number. I just compare the original plugs length and thread pitch and the BPR5ES matched perfectly and its what I had on hand.
@@Powertool1990 Just got the 9000/7250 #63970 non-California unit. Manual states F6TC gapped .028"-.031". The actual plug in it was an F7TC. I'm confused. Per the NGK website when looking at the cross-reference page it says: F6TC = 7333 BP6ES gap .031" www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9405 OR 4008 BPR6ES gap .035" solid (i.e. the nub at the top is not removable) www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9480 OR 7131 BPR6ES gap .035" www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9482 F7TC = 5534 BPR7ES gap .031" www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9494 NGK also says that the higher the number the colder the heat range is. HF online manual manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/63000-63999/63970.pdf Page 6 says oil is: 10W-30 above 32* 5W-30 at or below 32* Page 17 graph says oil is: 5W-30 at 32* and below 10W-30 at -5* and up 30W at 55* and up
Another question I have is when I have to break in the generator, should I be spending money on the synthetic when I have to change the oil I think twice in 24 hours? I just bought the generator and saw other videos where I believe the oil has to be changed twice before it is technically broken in.
I used regular conventional oil for the initial start and break in period and then changed to synthetic. I just started it the other day actually and ran it for 30 mins to keep everything working well. I use non ethanol fuel and it hasn't had an issue.
@@Powertool1990 Wow what a fast reply. Thanks. I want to order from Amazon so I have it for this weekend. I have to track down a manual as one did not come with it. But I think it would be two times I have to change the oil and it looks like the generator takes just a smidgen above 1 quart. How many times did you change before going to synthetic? Did you also use a fuel stabilizer?
@@robertknowles3677 I've been doing alot of research recently and I've actually found that the Walmart super tech oil is actually a very good quality oil. Both conventional and full synthetic are rated SN Plus which is the highest rating possible according to the American Petroleum Institute. You can get a 5 quart jug of super tech full synthetic for just over 15$ which is a great deal or 5 quarts of conventional for just over 12$. If you're looking to break it in over the weekend I'd recommend Walmart super tech, get 2 quarts of conventional for the break in and the change it to full synthetic when you're done. 1 oil change should be plenty after the break in but at 15$ for a jug of synthetic, you can do 2 oil changes if you want without breaking the bank. I personally don't use fuel stabilizer only because I have a non ethanol fuel pump near my house.
Put the battery on mine. burnt the New off the muffler.Did what it was suppose to. tried to pull start it,just after shutting it down. Not that easy a task . Even warm, I would not want to try and start this cold in the dark have I a battery tender for it. had one for the lawn mower started fine in March.
There are two screws on the carburetor. one increases or decreases the idle the other is fuel air mixture. Turn the fuel air mixture screw counter clockwise, out to enrichen the mixture. Start at 1/2 turn and try restarting without the choke if it's still hard to start open slightly more until engine starts and runs. I hope this helps you.
SAE (or Society of Automotive Engineers) is just a way to rate the oil. SAE isn't specific to anything. Any standard conventional or synthetic oil if fine for use. I use 10w30 due to temperature in VA, if you are in colder areas I'd go with 5w30. I just chose synthetic as a personal preference.
@@Powertool1990 I live on the east coast in NY. We get weather above and below 32 degrees. Now I plan on using my generator when it is cold out and when it is above 32. Most times it is above 32. But if we have an outage I will want to use the generator. I want to use the generator when I am using a couple of tools that require extra power in the garage since I only have a 15a circuit that is also shared in the house. So with that said, I know I will be out in the garage using the generator when it is above 32. I am guessing I would have to drain the 5w-30 and put in 10-30 when it gets below 32 degrees whenever the temperature falls below 32 or considerably below 32 degrees? That would suck of course. I thought maybe if I used 10-30 "synthetic" oil I won't have to change back and forth?
At over 20$ per gallon, Trufuel would be insane to run in a generator with 5 gallon capacity and it would burn through that 5 gallons in about 8 hours. I found a ethanol free fuel pump not far from my house that is only about 40-50 cent more per gallon than regular fuel, ive been running that without issue.
Italianrelic, I see your point with the Truefuel. Someone like me NEVER uses a generator except if/when an emergency occurs. The Truefuel would definitely pay for itself over a long stretch of storage. I'm breaking mine in today, but, I will be going straight to get that NGK spark plug. This is a GREAT review. Thanks very much!!!

I just bought one. The same day I did I got regular 10w30 then full synthetic because I thought I was making a mistake. Should I break it in with the regular
Joshua Allen yes, and there is a reason for this. Synthetic is great clean oil that will keep your generator running cool. After the break in period that is. You need to use regular conventional oil to help the pistons seat in a cylinder. I recommend googling "how to break in a generator" and read the first article that comes up. A proper break in will help extend the life of your generator. And keep it running cleaning with less gas consumption. Best wishes, stay safe.

i'm kinda worry now... i have the same generator and i used the 5w30 in it, so now the generator is working just fine but i see now that the 10w30 is the right oil for them. so the cuestion is... do you think am gonna have any problem because i used the 5w30 ?
Nelson Zelaya you shouldn't have any issues, the only reason I chose 10w30 over 5w30 is I'm more likely to loose power in the winter and 10w30 is better for cold weather.
Repairs & Reviews oh... now i'm glad to hear that... because i was watching lot of reviews and almost nobody shows what kind oil they're putting in it and i saw your review and your review helps a lot. thanks a lot for to reply me.
Actually quite the opposite. 5W-30 means it acts like a 5W during winter temps...so the gen should start easier. Once it warms up, it will act as a 30W oil. If you use 10W-30, the cold winter start will be with thicker oil and that makes the gen harder to start and the lube harder to reach all the places it needs to be.
dont use aviation fuel its very dry there is no lubricants in av fuel just get regular gas bud !!! look at ebay they have a $30. propane carb kit so you can run propane if you run outta fuel i gonna do it to mine im a mechanic to . in a power outage we wount be able to by fuel they wount have power either . so i keep some gas with stabil fuel staqbilizer in it and have propane for back up back up lol good luck
Why not just buy non-ethanol marine fuel? That's what I run in all of my power equipment and boat and I've NEVER had a carb issue when using it. And it usually only costs about $.50/gallon more than regular E-10 unleaded.
OK....you've got the generator I want to buy....and you are using an interlock switch at your main panel, also as I intend to do. Same with the 30A male "inlet" connector at the house, etc. So seeing you are one step ahead of me with all these pieces, let me ask this ( for this setup to work).---> 1.) Is the generator ground and neutral "bonded" together...or is it a "floating neutral". You need to "unbond" the neutral if you don't want the GFCI to kick you off when you use it as a house generator (no problem when used as a job-site generator).. Which leads me to the 2nd question. 2.) You can get away with a bonded neutral at the generator.... IF..... there is NO GFCI protection of the 4 prong 30A (120/240V) connection as the power source. The generator ad says it has GFCI, but maybe they mean it has ground fault protection only for the four 120V outlets...instead of ALL the outlets to include the 30A outlet. Do you know?.....Harbor Freight customer service was terrible and couldn't be trusted with an answer
