@@Terrelli9 They sometimes still sell their "discontinued" scents online. For the Brown Sugar and Fig, I'd pop in there here with fall and winter coming up to see if they might have it as that sounds like it would fit in with those seasons. Just...one word of advice. Don't sign up for any sale updates unless you're truly holding back for a good one, or else browsing the site gets addictive 😂. I finally had to unsubscribe myself from their emails as I realized I was spending an unhealthy amount of time on there. They send an email nearly every day, so it gets hard to ignore them.
I chuckled when you said your kitchen aid is going on 9 years without issue. You'll get a good long life out of that! I inherited one from my dad's mom (which she made my parent's wedding cake with). She bought it in the 1950s and it still runs like brand new to this day!
The moment she showed it, I admittedly felt a visceral hate hit me, XD! I forgot how much I hated that commercial as it just made zero sense to me and was annoying, lol! But also, in the age of everyone no longer having cable, nice to be reminded of a time where we all watched the same things...because we had no other choice.
This entire video was a very "forbidden snacks" viewing experience, especially that meringue-looking sugar scrub. Also, insulating the candle jars to slow cooling is a fantastic tip for those of us who live in colder climes, so thanks for mentioning that!
She has had the mixer for almost a decade, and she still hasn't internalized that it can be opened to make things easier... Sounds like something I would do! :d
Yea, the kitchen aid mixer thing can turn into many things, they have a buttload of attachments to make it into a lot of things. It has mixer, bread dough hook, and things to make many different types of mixtures and I forgot what else. But it's deffinetly a must if you're a big baker, cook, soap maker and a lot more. And its a quality product lasts almost forever, so if you buy it, it's a little expensive and attachments are sometimes pricey but it will last forever lol. I still have the one my great grandma had many many years ago. And the design hasn't changed too much over the years either which is cool.
@@amandarogerson9132 for real! My grandma still uses her that she bought in the 70s, always blow my mind when she bust that thing out and it still works wonders while my mom's new mixer(not from KitchenAid) lasted just over a year before the motor burned out lmao
You have no idea how much I needed a new, Katie-being-Katie video today. I've had a horrible day, faced with eviction (hopefully things are okay now), I really needed a reason to smile! (Side note, you always have the best clothes, dang!)
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. I know firsthand just how stressful an eviction can be so you’re heavy on my heart today. Don’t forget to do a little something just for you! 💗
I love the Katie-being-Katie videos! I was watching an old video where she was saying someone described her videos as quirky, and I thought, no, it's just Katie being Katie! Good luck with all the things you are dealing with.
My kitchen aid mixer was my mother’s first one that she got when I was born. So it’s 30 years old and I own it now and it works like it’s brand new and we are both heavy bakers! You take care of it and kitchen aid will last a lifetime!
@@tuvelat7302 i found this too lol I bought a new one for my mum cos hers is literally 35 years old, and it only lasted a year. She still uses the old one and it worked like new lmao
You can't beat (lol) quality products..YES they may be an bit of a hit initially..but pound for pound (or Dollar for Dollar) they are worth it as they do the job AND last :)
I inherently my kitchenaid mixer recently from my deceased grandmother, it makes me happy to know it’s something that will last forever and always remind me of her ❤️
I will never forget laying in the hospital in hard labor and that dang berries and cream commercial came on and I just started laughing as hard as I could
In my opinion hairnets are generally a good idea for anyone one who is making something by hand. It doesn't matter if its a gift or for sale. I've had to fight to keep my own hair out of a white stocking I knitted for my cousin's little girl.
Yes, I love the scent of coffee. I have gotten back into drinking coffee and I got a coffee scented body wash. I love the scent, especially if it's got a caramel scent mixed in. I need to get my hands on a caramel macchiato type candle or something like that. I need to make every corner of my house smell like a coffeeshop.
My favourite moment is when the editing cut near the end made me think she just chucked the final products over her shoulders and moved on to remind us to have fun.
Sis, with those glam and gorgeous eyelashes, you can work that hairnet! I've had my cobalt blue Artisan KitchenAid mixer for over 20 years, used regularly, and she's still going strong. Seriously worth it if anybody is on the fence about making the investment to buy one. You will definitely get your money's worth out of it.
My kitchenaid mixer is a hand-me-down from my great grandma and I watched every generation use it for years before getting their own! Those things are built to last
Most people gets birthday gift. Oh this will be fun let's try it so I can have candles and bath scrub. Katie gets a birthday gift. Oh let's make gifts for others. Of course she does. We all need to be more like Katie. Hats off to Katie. Happy Birthday Duchess
I live by WSP and used to go in person to buy my scents. I'd spend hours just sniffing scents in the showroom! Quality items & great value! Glad they sent you fun stuff! Happy birthday!
Ugh you're so lucky, a whole bunch of coffee fragrances. I love the smell of coffee. Between my coffee maker getting used everyday and the coffee body wash I own, the scent of coffee always follows me but I really need to get my hands on a nice coffee candle and bar soap...
Katie why are you such an absolute joy, LOL. I love watching you so much, it really lifts my mood no matter what is going on. I hope you have a wonderful day :) Also happy birthday!
When I was in massage school and learned about essential oils we learned how they can elicit memories and other things. We did a fun thing where we would smell one without knowing what it was and wrote down what we thought it smelled like or a memory. I was amazing to see all the different things that came up for people!
Honey is a humectant, so when it's used in a lotion, it draws water to the skin, helping to moisturize it. It is also helpful to add to a clay mask to slow the drying. I add honey powder to my homemade clay mask mix so that I can just add water or hydrosol, no digging up honey or getting a spoon dirty.
You should do a café collection of soaps....do two or three drink scented soaps & a few baked goods scented soaps and sell them on your site. You could sell them separate or as a bundle, maybe for the holidays 😊 I would buy them!
I am still baffled about scents being linked to emotions and hazy memories and just a whaft of a smell can make you cry for almost no reason :-) I adore your reactions you act like a kid on christmas, its so nice :D
Hi Katie! Thank you so much for this gift of a video, I love seeing you be goofy and talk about your life. I watch every video and I’ve missed this as you are trying to figure out the youtube algorithm. I hope youtube favours you, because I think you are excellent!
This video and channel make me so hasppy. I had a dream I got to meet Katie and suggested a soap scent to her, and I woke up feeling so happy. ;3; That coffee candle sounds amazing. So amazing.
You should do a fancy drink collection, hear me out: cappuccino layered soap with a mica stencil like the coffee art you see on tictoc, maybe an in the pot swirl? A chai latte with a cinnamon stick sticking out the top and apricot seeds mixed in. A passion tea with clear ice cubes and maybe a lime or lemon wedge? A Boba inspired taro root tea with the boba pearls at the bottom. I think you could do at least 4 drink soaps easily. Or add a flannel/cozy blanket inspired one too. Call it a cup of cozy collection.
Ok actually useful wick tips I saw someone using wooden chopstick from restaurants still attached together and they slipped the wick in between the two chopstick to keep their wick straight and it seemed to be working pretty good
I swear, more than half the fun of these videos is the sheer enjoyment you're getting out of the process. (Also, a special boutique coffee-themed set would make an awesome four-soap video, just saying.)
Oooh Katie I love when you do kit testing it helps me so much to know what to buy and what not to buy and also side note I'm loving all these videos... you are doing the most and I love it
How fun!!! And both kits look amazing! And, speaking of looking amazing, your shirt is so cute 😁 It looks like something Mariah Elizabeth would design! I know it is past, but I hope your birthday was full of love and joy. ❤
You're legiterally making me want to go buy the fragrance oils because of how expressively you smelled them, and I don't even make body care products! 😂
Thanks to the pandi, I have had zero money to get my scrubs, soaps, and girly things (not a lot for me, I am pretty low maintenance) and man, almost a full year of being totally out of fun self care stuff, and yummy candle smells, you realize just how much the small little things do make a difference. The dollar tree subs just are not the same, and broke me out in some cases. But as soon as I can it will be a candle, scrub, skin care, hand made soap extravaganza!!!!!
I’ve just started making soap and because my 8 year old daughter wants to do it with me we’ve gone with melt and pour. But I’ve gotten so many ideas from watching you! We just did a root beer float soap and we can’t wait to unmold it.
I don't think I could ever make that sugar scrub because I'd have to really stop myself from accidentally eating some of it. It looks so delicious, haha.
Aw man it was my birthday recently(sept 4th) and my friend convinced me to FINALLY buy the Jack Sparrow soap you made haha so your outro at the end just reminded me of how nice it was to treat myself hehe. I loove your videos and they inspire me to get so super creative!:D Thanks for everything Katie!
I so appreciate you taking the time to give us a rundown of the fragrances, I'm about to order some candle making supplies, and this came at the perfect time. 💖
Unrelated but a made soap for the first time today and thanks to your soap school it went well🤗🤗the soap got to medium trace after i added colloidal oatmeal and fragrance oil but i was still able to get it into the mold. Thank you katie for being a great teacher🤗🤗
Such a fun video! Thank you for sharing a variety of different things. I love your soaping videos for relaxation and positive vibes in my day. You're such a gift! 😊
