Today I'm unboxing one of the Buds Gun Shop Carcano Moschetto Modello 91/24 T.S. rifles that have been so popular as of late. These are new imports coming out of Italy. Apparently they were used by the Italian Carabinieri which are like a national police force. One of the particularly interesting aspects of these rifles is that they are conversions from M1891 long rifles. After the fascists gained control of Italy during the interwar years they began a program of converting some of the old long rifles to the more practical T.S. carbine. This individual example began its life at the Terni Arsenal in 1915 as a long rifle. It probably saw service in The Great War and in 1927 it was converted to the 91/24 configuration. The overall condition was as good as I could have expected. The bore isn't too bad with a light shine. Everything seems to be in working order. The cleaning rod was bent but I'm just glad there was one included. For the price I'd say I'm very pleased with my purchase. This is a nice addition to my growing Carcano collection.
